### "Leading Mapping Software"

April 24, 2019

5.0

Great experience but it can be daunting in the beginning.

Pros

Once you master ArcGIS you'll be surprise with all the things you can do. I love how many settings it has. It can be daunting but by the end of the day you can make maps perfect for presentations, school or government level. It is a behemoth of a program that can make just about any kind of map.

Cons

ArcGIS has a very high learning curve and it can be incredible daunting for someone starting on it by themselves (ie working at home). I found that the best way to learn was with others, especially in person. There are simply so many settings, windows, layer toggles, etc that it can be overwhelming to tackle by yourself. I've also found that it's hard program to "play with". You need data to work with that must be compatible with the program, it's hard to come with things to from "scratch". That's why learning it through a company or a college class (or online) is the best IMO. It's near impossible to self-teach it.

### "Why choose ArcGis?"

January 18, 2019

4.0

Pros

With this software you can use endless tools that can materialize the objective that you propose in your mind.

Cons

Version 10.2 is heavier than the previous ones and you need a good equipment, which does not tend to heat up, so you can easily run this program.

### "Arc Gis allowed the organization to which I belong, to give value to the geographical data we posses"

May 30, 2018

5.0

Because the geodatabase works in a DBMS mechanism (Database Management System), it greatly facilitated multi-user editing so that the same data could be accessed at the same time. In addition, It was possible to store data of vector type, raster, CAD, tables, digital terrain models and networks, without the introduction of erroneous and / or incongruent data, as well as applying default values and domains to the fields of the entities according to the subtype to which they belong.

Pros

First of all Esri, has a long experience accumulated over 40 years in the market, allowing you to establish a solid and provide solutions to its users. It is worth mentioning the wide range of online data available to ARCGIS online.

Cons

At this point, I must refer to the constant updating of the software, which rebounds into costs for users and sometimes limits its funcionality.

### "Participate in a software development project with the use of arcgis"

May 15, 2018

5.0

For a client, an application was developed that allowed the use of the map to point customers and with this information it could be analyzed and be able to make strategic decisions, through the maps you can know quantities of specific customers in a certain area, if they are clients. that have the same characteristics, typify them by themes, etc.

Pros

Arcgis is a very powerful mapping tool, through it we can create an entire infrastructure for the management of maps, pointing objects within them, manipulate and / or customize them, you can perform data analysis of the present information in the maps. If you want to go further and create an application that feeds or uses the map, it is possible to do this through the SDK, with which you can manipulate the information and process the data for its use, for example dotting clients, dotting oil wells, etc, any object that is useful for the end user, There is an online version, which presents several benefits for the creation of maps as well as sharing the same.

Cons

The version that is installed on the servers requires an infrastructure that is robust and large enough to support the processing of the same. It requires acquiring some technical skills to be able to administer the platform

### "Excellent Tool for Sharing and Exploring Geospatial Data "

March 9, 2021

5.0

ArcGIS is an powerful tool to have in my tool belt for mapping and geospatial data analysis. I have found the training resources and support available to be very valuable.

Pros

What I like most about ArcGIS is the range of function and the online support available through the ESRI website. There is a vast range of training videos and classes available with a subscription, and most include data for hands-on practice.

Cons

What I like least about ArcGIS is that there can be a steep learning curve to using the software. Not all of the commands are intuitive, however there are excellent resources available on the ESRI website.

### "Main environment consultant software"

February 27, 2018

4.0

We work every day with the software and we found out that to prepare Araya's Mayor Office Land Use for the municipality it's very important tool, because we can arrange several types of use of the land and propose new types of uses for an established areas.

Pros

I like most is the ability of this software to connect to database servers that allows to have actualized information of an studio area. We can focus objectives by preparing entities and giving them attributes to make advance calculations about population or services. All this information is displayed in the final layout to be exported as a map, in a pdf format or an image. It covers every part of a project.

Cons

I like least is the requirements of the software to run in the computer and the RAM memory it needs to use. In addition, the price of the software isn't affordable to a small business like us. Some times the computer that uses ArcGIS, can't operate with any other software, limiting the capability of the office.

### "ArcGIS for map making and analysis"

April 23, 2019

5.0

Solves any and all data-driven map making problems.

Pros

This is the best map making software there is. It is powerful and able to handle A LOT of data. There are endless ways to manipulate data and the tools available at your fingertips are seemingly never-ending, there is always something to learn to make it better.

Cons

There is a steep learning curve associated with this software. Also, while making the maps in GIS is best, its formatting and map producing (as in those you'd print and use) are not done well and the maps must be brought into other software to make the maps presentable.

### "ArcGis Pro Review"

November 16, 2022

5.0

As a part of my college project in GIS, I used the ArcGis tool and explored a lot of features. I had done my final year project with the help of this tool. The ArcGis tool made my work easy by processing at pixel level by a single click.

Pros

Easy to use and understand even for a new userEasy to understand variety of options as detailed information is provided for every option in every tool in the form of I-buttonIt does 64-bit processingIt also provides the corresponding python code so that we can use that code and develop required programsThe tools are segregated in a clear and easily understood manner.Easy shapefile and layer files creation.

Cons

No easy and user-friendly interface to manage all the files.High cost for license, \[If you need it for les than 30 days free trail is available, else you have to purchase it.\]Lot of unnecessary files will be saved at time of exporting. The size of the output folder will be too large

### "Creates custom professional looking maps"

July 28, 2019

5.0

ArcGIS is the best software to use for mapping. It's easy to learn for general mapping and also works great as an educational tool.

Pros

It is very easy to learn how to use ArcGIS with a little practice. There are a lot of options in making your map and many basemaps to choose from. ArcGIS online also provides a large database of mapable data in case you need it. Lots of analysis tools and the online community is great.

Cons

It can't handle a lot of data very well and often freezes when there is too much on the map. This slows down processing. Also has some bugs sometimes when things won't work and will work at others.

### "Important software for all types of spatial analysis"

April 12, 2020

4.0

It's an important piece of software with a steep learning curve, but limitless benefit if you're looking to do some heavy spatial analysis.

Pros

Its ubiquity means there's a ton of support out there; the fact that it's expensive makes customer service more likely to respond to your specific request or question. It does all the things you'd like geospatial software to do, including and especially spatial statistics. Also it's portable to the accessible online program, which is great for collaboration.

Cons

It's expensive--that there's a free alternative makes it harder to justify the purchase just for better professional customer support. It also crashes frequently, which makes the case for saving often...but if you forget....

### "The market leader among GIS tools"

May 8, 2019

4.0

As a Civil Engineer, ArcGIS has always been part of my breif career stint. I always use the tool in my preliminary investigation and in the collection pf spatial information necessary for design of various Engineering structures.

Pros

ArcGIS is a very user friendly software when it comes to Geospatial analysis and mapping. I highly recommend this GIS tool to educational institutions and learners because it offers a very smooth learning expirience largely due to its easy to the eye user interface and self explanatory features. Free trials and tutorials are also easily available which is a key component of the learning process. Be sure to engage an expert in GIS who are easily available due to the popularity of ArcGIS.

Cons

ArcGIS is very slow in booting and processing depending on the capabilities of the computer one is using. It is also extremely easy for someone to lose unsaved data due to the fact that ARcGIS does not automatically save work done on a project.

### "Excellent for mapping and georreferencing"

May 17, 2018

5.0

I really recommend arcgis, it is a really complete geographic information system, which can be expensive and difficult at first, but using it can be really rewarding.

Pros

I've used arcgis for georreferencing during a project in which we constructed several logistics bases for supplying spare parts to oil and gas drills, and it was really easy to use because of it's accessible and user friendly workspace. We created a base map and the needed variables for a very dynamic map, and the best part was that updating it took almost no time.

Cons

Using arcgis at first can ve really overwhelming as it is not easy, you need to spend a lot of time learning it but since there are lots of tutorials online it is not that big of an issue.

### "Most Powerful and Complete Mapping Tool"

July 15, 2021

5.0

I first used ArcGIS during an internship at the Department of National Parks and Wild Life where I was a Research Assistant. We used ArcGIS to create maps from GPS points the Wild Life Police Officers obtained during routine Wildlife Monitoring routines. ArcGIS made this kind of work very easy even though I had to be trained for me to be able to use it. Then I used ArcGIS for my dissertation project. I used it to create a map for my study area, form grid lines and formulate and select sampling points. ArcGIS made my research look professional and presentable

Pros

Esri's ArcGIS has the best features, options and functionality when it comes to scaling, geoprocessing, and topology. Its cartographic capabilities when it comes to printing maps is also very good. I also love the fact that now ArcGIS has introduced ArcGIS online for web maps and mobile phone apps

Cons

ArcGIS is quite expensive especially for individual use. The only best way to get value for money is to buy as an organization.

### "Pipelines security with ArcGIS"

March 22, 2018

5.0

Excellent tool for oil industry.

Pros

I work in the oil industry and we depend a lot of the condition of the pipelines, so with ArcGIS with can constantly the valves and condition and know where are the problems to solve them immediately and with the best security condition to our workers, with use shapefiles with many attributes to check the pipelines on the field.

Cons

I have nothing bad to say about it because ArcGIS is powerful, you can use for so many things and all the process are making in the way that the user wants.

### "Learning for school: complex but well made"

March 8, 2022

4.0

Pros

Software is well made, with user-friendly controls. Lots of '?' buttons that give simple explanations of what tools mean. The ArcGIS website (ERSI) also gives good information to help troubleshoot and solve issues. Lots of capabilities - you have lots of options with this program. Model options are another great way to use this program and visualize the tools you are using for your map.

Cons

Definitely takes classes to learn the capabilities of the software. Very complex, but that's the nature of mapping.

### "Software works well, costly and difficult to administer"

April 8, 2019

4.0

At the end of the day, it serves the needs we need to produce our work product for clients.

Pros

This has up to date maps and data that we need to service our clients needs. We are able to download and create visually appealing graphics.

Cons

My main complaint is the user interface as an administrator with purchasing and transferring licenses. It's not intuitive, we have to manage internally whereas other software we are able to login to an online portal and easily administrate licenses. It's also quite costly for us as a small business, and the file sizes are huge.

It's a very powerful tool with so many features in it one can even imagine. It has it's applications in almost any field and worth every penny invested for.

Pros

It is the best way to manage and and analyse the data with so many functions and features available for any location. With latest updates, it has now most advanced statistical tools. It can handle a large amount of Vector data very efficiently. Can be used as Web Maps.

Cons

It is costly as compared to other similar products but very powerful one. Takes more space. Needs a lot of training as the software is too complex.

Good. Customer service is excellent and they take the time to walk you through new things. I enjoy the program and the ability to be efficient in the field.

Pros

I like the ability to see the locations of all sites currently working on and that as a manager you are able to plan the best route to get the most work down in the most efficient amount of time.

Cons

It is a learning curve, a lot of training and remembering step by step procedures to get the product you were looking for. Lots of patience while learning at the beginning. Updates sometimes had to adjust to.

5.0

Pros

I like the ability to format and being able to change the symbology. And generally feel that they make a very good looking maps compared to other, non-premium GIS software.

Cons

The price tag Esri offers for the ArcGIS suite is a bit high for what it offers. And I am not a huge fan of their licensing options and to its extensions (adds up)
