Overall my experience has been positive. Jackrabbit is expensive, but they seem to offer the most features for a complex dance school. One way or another we can find what we need through Jackrabbit

Pros

What I like most about this software is the customer service. This is a robust and complex system that has evolved spectacularly over the 10+ years that I have used it. There are many features that can be confusing at first. But the customer service team is always ready to help and in a way that makes it easy to understand and replicate on my own later.

Cons

One thing that is missing is a retail feature for online sales. They have implemented a retail feature that can be done in person. But I would love to be able to sell our uniforms on our website through Jackrabbit. I would also love to see the email/communications features made more robust. It would be nice to know who is opening our emails and who is not.

Jackrabbit was more refined for dance studio management than the other two options.

After 15 years as the sole office personnel in a small non profit that grew somehow from 3 personnel to over 45 I had to be dragged kicking and screaming to change. First, the updated Website. Ok, I can do that. Oh. You want a CART? To be able to register ON LINE? Wait...that means taking CREDIT CARDS? Are you mad? People have been writing checks for 20 years quite happily thank you. Oh...you LIKE signing your kids up in the middle of the night which is when you can get to it? You think everyone is like that? Pshh. Kids these days. Ok, FINE. Sparing you the details of my angst and how much research I did, after changing over everything for a big company that LOOKED like it would suit us...but didn't as a last ditch effort before utter despair, my boss's sister recommended JackRabbit. I made someone else do the transition, I couldn't bear doing it twice. My problems were not lack of computer skills, my problems were that we have developed a very boutique style business and every system to handle every diverse aspect of what we do, I built from the ground up. My data base could roll over, sit up and just about any trick. Getting JR to do all that wasn't possible BUT it is ALMOST flexible enough to do everything I need which is awesome. There are still things I could do faster the old way BUT....here is what I love about JR. They listen. ALL our businesses are totally different in the minutia but we ALL need clients, we need them to register, pay and service them. JR makes all that possible and for as many formats as possible. They are constantly adding things we ask for. I love that and it makes the pain of not being able to push a button and have all the forms I want the way I want them, bearable. I've learned to start bending around JR instead of the other way and it is a natural progression because the software is so flexible and user friendly. Change sucks. No one likes it but if you are going to do it, do it with a company that is servicing at least 75% or more of your needs, is big enough to have the resources for R&D and small enough to be agile to implement that R&D.

Pros

VERY user friendly. I'm very computer literate so it was a snap learning it but teaching it to folks NOT so literate, is easy. The BEST customer service from any company I've ever dealt with. Hands down. Constant updates, improvements and we the customers are listened to and the software changes and additions are created according to greatest need. Some of the best help documentation I've seen too. The training they offer both live and virtual is excellent.

Cons

There are features I wish it would have, like mass record updates or some more flexibility with report design but I feel like we will get those eventually. Nothing can cover every situation so just make sure if something essential is missing that you need that you have the JR folks talk you through it.

Pros

One centralized location to manage most aspects of the business, whether at the office or at home. This product makes owning and managing a dance studio much easier. It is also a great service for our patrons.

Cons

There are a lot of possibilities and you have to be careful to check everything. It can sometimes be a bit persnickety and for people who are not computer savvy, it is not always intuitive.

I did evaluate other products, but now can't remember which ones. after having conversations with other studio owners, Jackrabbit seemed the best fit for us.

Although some parts of the website seem a little outdated, the jackrabbit staff listens very closely to their clients and provide some awesome features that have been asked for by the community.

Pros

Jackrabbit has a ton of features and a dedicated staff that's always trying to make improvements.

Cons

I REALLY wish there was a way to automate more emails. For example, birthday emails. It would help so much if jackrabbit could automatically input a dancer or parents name from short text such as '%parent' or '!parent'.

### "Helps our Studio Run More Efficiently"

Pros

helped us moved from antiquated paper file system with in-person registration requirement to online registration, enrollment, and payments. I love how I am able to automate tuition posting and epayments. I spend much less time reconciling payments and chasing non-payers. In addition, we moved from paper time keeping binder to the Staff Portal, which has made paying our instructors so much easier.

Cons

We would really like the ability to offer selected merchandise (Store) items for purchase through the Parent Portal. In addition, the way waitlisted and trial classes are done creates some confusion and, in the case of trial classes, sometimes billing errors. I wish the family would be able to enroll in a trial class, select the date, and the fee (if any) would be billed to their account (also with ability to limit to only 1 trial) - currently they are enrolled into the actual class and only sometimes it is denoted as trial, they are not automatically charged the trial fee and when tuition runs they are billed tuition if not caught and dropped from class.

We originally built our own data base system in the 90's and although it was specific to our company, it was difficult to maintain and upgrade. Jackrabbit is easy to use and the learning curve for new employees is minimal. This is our 43rd year in business and we started with index cards and phone chains. I'm spoiled by the information that I can access immediately with Jackrabbit. I constantly use the reports, both financial and client based, that I can find which helps me to oversee the health of my business.

Pros

The best features are the ease of clients to register their students for classes and events with minimum confusion. We also love the transparency of the Parent Portal - parents can easily see the charges that were posted and their balances.

Cons

The only feature that I find constraining is the necessity to use a 3rd party processor that is allowed by JackRabbit. We found a processor who could provide us with better discounting and pricing, but unfortunately, are unable to contract them.

Jackrabbit has given me the power to spend my time doing other things. It’s so easy to use and I love it!

Pros

I love how easy it is to find information in Jackrabbit! We run lots of reports on what classes are filled, what isn’t making, etc. and it is always easy to filter and not be overwhelmed by the information we don’t need.

Cons

The parent portal and app is a pain. Parents who want to enroll in several things have to do them all individually, the app creator isn’t always responsive or easy to work with, the app it’s self is slow a lot of the times, and it can be hard to get to where you want to go. Love the idea of it, but I get lots of complaints on the parents end about it.

Overall, we did switch from a program we really liked to JackRabbit. The data collecting, reports, and more robust registration is what sold us on the program. These areas are really great. I do think there is room for improvement in other areas to make it more user friendly for admin.

Pros

The biggest thing that drew us in to JackRabbit was the reporting, dashboard data and online registration form. We like how detailed all these areas are so we can collect data and analyze how our business is doing.

Cons

— Set up was not the easiest. Another con would be that you can’t easily charge a registration fee at the top of each season. We would love when someone registers they also get a registration fee charged and must pay. — seasons have to be closed manually vs inputting an end date. — you can add class recommendations for students. Like clicking classes you suggest for a student. — pre-requisite requirements or required class. With pointe class our dancers also must be enrolled in a ballet class. It would be nice if the system wouldn’t allow a registrant to add pointe without ballet.

### "Best Decision We Could Have Made!"

We made the switch to Jackrabbit in May of 2020. I use this product both from the office/business side and the parent side and I am thoroughly enjoying working with both sides! From the business side, it was very easy to set up and Jackrabbit walked me through and always answered my questions. Their customer service team is top notch! The software functionality is amazing! From the parent side, it’s very user friendly! We just had our rec level registration yesterday and it could not have been any easier for the parents! In fact, one emailed me to say “I just wanted to let you know this is the fourth studio we’ve been to and your sign up process was by far the best!!” That alone speaks volumes! I also love how parents can store up to 3 cards on file for payment. This software is far LESS than what we were paying before and it is light years ahead!

Pros

We are a larger studio and Jackrabbit helps save me time In many ways! One example, When parents have a failed payment, they receive an email automatically letting them know. I have noticed great success with parents logging in to update expired cards AND make payment without me calling them! I can also view A/R at a quick glance from my dashboard, and click to see who has balances, AND email them in mass. Time saver! If I post a fee with an incorrect amount I can easily edit the transaction instead of deleting it and starting over. I can apply credits to transactions in mass which saves me at least an hour/month! During registration, there is a dashboard that shows me everything coming in so I can easily keep tabs on the process, review registrations, etc. The Parent Portal is mobile friendly so parents can easily do things on the go! It’s very easy to navigate! Taking attendance appears to be quick and painless in the Staff Portal, though we have not gotten to use that yet as classes have not started. We also utilize the time card feature which got us away from paper. We utilize the store for front desk purchases and that has been saving incredible time and paper as well. Customer service team could NOT be any better! There is also an extensive help section where I can locate answers.

Cons

They are continually making improvements! One thing I would like to see is tuition payments processing automatically. (It is coming soon.) That is the single item our old system had over Jackrabbit. But there are so many other advantages to Jackrabbit and it’s very fast to process payments so not a huge deal. Their are so many reports it’s been a learning curve to figure out my favorites. On the flip side - there is literally a report for anything!

It's been pretty great!

Pros

What I love most is that it is so easy for me to get my questions answered. The videos are very clear, but if I am still confused with something I can jump on a call or chat within 24 hours and it helps me to keep my business running smoothly!

Cons

There are so many great features that it can be a little complex. My biggest challenge is that it isn't doable for my adult classes that are drop ins and I can't adjust the registration format to better it the needs of my school. I would love to have a separate registration for my adult classes and a way to do drop-ins.

Overall, JR provides great software that has really allowed us to streamline things at our studio. I have been to an in person training (Stellar), watched videos & used the help desk many times and can not say enough about how amazing their customer service is!

Pros

I love how easy JR is to learn & use. I love what it adds to our studio & streamlines for our dance families. Their customer service is TOP NOTCH! Always super helpful, even if I’m chatting with them about something I chatted with them multiple times! Very responsive. Not to mention the amount of help information/videos available online.

Cons

I need to revisit the costume functions. When I tried to use them several years ago I ended up frustrated & just stopped using them. There are a few payment options that we use, and to my knowledge, JR is unable to recognize them. So while I can post monthly, I do have to manually change amounts for our families that pay quarterly.

### "We love Jackrabbit!"

Our collections improved immensely once we started using Jackrabbit. This is probably the most important value for our company. The other features (billing/invoicing, online registration, connection to the website, staff hours, etc.) have also contributed to streamlining our day to day operations.

Pros

We have 2 studio locations, with some customers who attend class at both locations. Jackrabbit allows our staff at either location to look up and handle transactions for any customer. We love how easy customers can enroll in classes and make their payments from their family portal. We love the "Batch" system, in which we are able to process multiple transactions each month. Jackrabbit data feeds into our website, which is another way to attract new customers. And, we absolutely depend on the RECITAL feature to help us prepare our show order and avoid so many "quick changes" - this has helped our shows run so smoothly over the years!

Cons

There are a few small small things that we discover from time to time that would be helpful....and so we love the ability to send in an "IDEA" to customer service, and to see if other studios have submit a similar idea. It's especially rewarding when Jackrabbit incorporates these ideas, which is very often. Jackrabbit is always evolving and improving....and we apprecitate it so much.

I learn the most with the live chat agents. I'm thankful for that feature. We have something odd happening every once and a while where "JTech" posts things and I cannot track which employee actually posted a charge or did something in the portal. I spoke with a live agent and she didn't understand why that was happening either.

Pros

After using DanceManager on a desktop without cloud capabilities since the 1990s, Jackrabbit is a breath of fresh air.

Cons

I want portal messages from customers as a notification or a tab on my executive dashboard. It is annoying to go to the sent emails in reports every day to check. (I know we receive emails but my email address sends all Jackrabbit automatic emails to spam because it would overwhelm my inbox.) We also were frustrated in the beginning because we bought a card reader through SafeSave and it was not Mac compatible and we are stuck with it. We are using our Chase credit card processor for in person purchases, SafeSave for online purchases (or in-person requesting to use card on file), and Square when at performances/competitions. We desperately need something to read cards and update the customer's account simultaneously. (Rather than us charging the card and entering that they paid)

I am so happy that I acquired the Jackrabbit software for my dance studio. Enrollment, taking payments, tracking staff payroll, attendance and so many other features, have saved me valuable time. My office staff can now handle things much more confidently without me which means I can put my attention to my students. My studio is more profitable, my records more accurate and very importantly, I can access this information from any computer or my phone!

Pros

Changing software is always difficult and usually intimidating. The most important feature is good customer support! From the very beginning, the support team has made me feel at ease and confident. When I have a question, there are several ways to get an answer in Jackrabbit. I appreciate being able to get help in depth and sometimes very quickly. This also gives me confidence to keep applying more of the features to my business.

Cons

The discounts that I offer seem to pose a problem for JR. I have had differing opinions from support members as to how to handle this. I still have to put more manual hours in posting tuition than I would like. I also wish that the Costume Management feature was a bit more friendly. The absolute worst thing about JR is that their "per student fee" includes students from a family that are no longer current students. I wish they would let me put all past students in a lead file and not just the whole family.

Pros

JR Customer Service and training representatives are soooo helpful. The chat function within the database is crucial to getting answers, strategies RIGHT away. When the chat function is open, you are never waiting more than 90 seconds for a rep. If the rep needs to work on a solution they will always provide you with a response within 24hrs. It's incredible service compared to other software.

Cons

Let me get out my programming wishlist... 1. customize the staff portal attendance options, need more than just 'late', 'left-early', 'observed' and why only when they are absent, why isn't there options or even a notes field when they are in attendance? 2. closed dates vs. cancelled classes, there is no way to reflect a single cancelled class without marking the whole class as absent, that messes up the attendance reporting calculation, c'mon now, this one has been asked for for years in the idea portal! 3. google calender, apple calendar, etc. integration - this seems like a no brainer 4. there are no customized or ANY form fields in emails or text messages - why not? again a no brainer 5. private lesson module - it doesn't exists 6. needs to have integration with other cloudbase software, email marketing as an example

Customer Service is usually great! Everyone is friendly and help as much as the software will allow!

Pros

That all our student data is in one spot. I love the Recital Module for Dance Concert show planning and show program printing. I like that you can have classes and events.

Cons

I feel like as aesthetics have been improving little by little, ease of use has not. It's really difficult to get certain reports that would be helpful from the new grids. Costume management is helpful to a point, events are a plus but a bit clunky when trying to set up/use/train someone on them. People are still hoping for more payment options (with multiple people paying). That texting requires another party and fee.

We have benefitted immensely by using Jackrabbit over the past several years. From online registration and payments to the staff and parent portals, they have really allowed us to serve our clients better while dramatically reducing the workload for our staff.

Pros

Online registration and payment collection is the reason we started using Jackrabbit originally. This continues to be the number one asset of the Jackrabbit software in our business. We have grown to use and rely on the staff portal for tracking staff hours which has been very useful. We started using Jackrabbit for attendance during COVID and have continued to do so to track attendance for illnesses and makeup classes, which again has been great.

Cons

A change that really needs to be made is the ability to send individual dancers to the lead file and leave their younger sibling(s) active. Jackrabbit fees are base on active students, but students that quit or graduate are still counted as active if they have a sibling still dancing. This is totally unfair and hasn't been addressed in all the year's I have used the syllabus. I also don't like the fact that their is no way to split the billing of fees to two parents. The software needs to reflect the changes that we have in society with multiple families and parents that need to split the costs of dancers. Last, the recital component could use an update for more detail and better reporting.

There were only a few software products on the market and we felt that Jackrabbit suited our needs better, had a more clear and clean look. We also had the feeling (and we were right), that the support they offered would continue to grow and meet our needs as we grew with the software.

We've been a Jackrabbit studio since 2011. We have enjoyed growing with the company and taking advantage of their features to help grow our studio year-after-year. They constantly work to improve their software listening to their clients to incorporate their ideas into new features.

Pros

We most enjoy the online parent portal and automatic payment options. It makes collecting fees easy and seamless for our staff and families. Their online registration process through the parent portal is also clean and easy for our families.

Cons

Credit card processing fees through their third-party payment processor are high. We would also enjoy a more comprehensive and inclusive lead collection and tracking feature in the software.

It helped us go from barely managing one studio, to efficiently managing 3 simultaneously.

Pros

What I like most about Jackrabbit is how it allows you one database for your enrollment and registration.

Cons

What I don't like is how communication gets lost frequently when we email our clients. Spam filters often filter out emails sent from JR. We also have frequent issues with the registration page being difficult for first time customers.

Pros

First off, the staff is so prompt and helpful. I do love the screen shares that they can email and start via chat so if there are issues, I can visually locate them. Cons

I think parent-end (parent portal) we get a lot of questions on "How do I know that is due?" "Why this fee is listed from this date" "How do I know what this is for?" I know on the mobile end there is a details button to tell what the charge is for but on desktop, it is not visually accessible or recognized. We have changed our posting to 30 days before so Jackrabbit will show us when the fee is past 30 days old so we know they are overdue but parents will tell us "well that was posted 1/1/2022 - I already paid for January" then we will have to tell them that is when we posted it and that the details of the transaction is for February tuition.

So far so good.

Pros

We love the parent portal. It makes it so easy for parents to check their fees and transactions. We love that we can email blast everyone at once and create lead files for students who haven’t returned or want to be kept for future. We love that it’s accessible no matter where you are because it’s an online platform.

Cons

I wish you could archive students rather than families. We have plenty of students who don’t dance with us anymore but their sibling does, we don’t want to delete them as we don’t want to have to re-enter them if they choose to return but also don’t want to keep paying for them to be a student in the system. Which leads me to my biggest con of all- we don’t love that the price of jackrabbit is based on the amount of students you have. Other softwares are a flat rate monthly and are cheaper. Every summer I debate switching. Would also love to be able to create different groups of people to send emails to (competitive, recreational)

I prefer the invoicing process in jackrabbit
