### "Vmware Vsphere "

April 24, 2021

4.0

It's cost-effective - pay as use concept if no need stop your services and get free from billings Space Effective - physical to virtual conversation helps you to save your infra space which is not possible in case of physical deployment Why Vsphere - it a product of a leading virtualization vendor.

Pros

Vsphere - Vcenter is the platform where you can create configure and customize the virtual machines as per the customer requirement Vsphere allows you to synchronize with multiple host/nodes, which helps you run the features of high availability smart server deployment. Vsphere has various products which help every smaller multinational organization to manage their cloud infrastructures. Vpshere allows you the features which highly recommended and essential to smoothly run any organization. Vsphere is the product of Vmware and the vendor is running in the top list of virtualization providers Features of Vsphere High Availability - Providing the high SLA Distributor resource scheduler - smart deployment of servers Distributor power management - save you cost Fault Tolerance - Zero downtime Wow that you rarely get with any other virtualization platform.

Cons

Vsphere should be licensed purchased it's not allowed you to run the infra after 30 days of trial. There are various packages available for their products, so small-level organizations are supposed to run all features they have to pay the cost of the required product. Should require stronger connectivity to access your Vsphere smoothly.

### "vSphere was just what was needed to P2V our old legacy kit"

August 8, 2024

5.0

A really solid and reliable product that I have been using and deploying for many years. I found it be totally dependable with easy to use GUI's, plenty of online docs and a very good support and technical service.

Pros

I found vSphere to be the complete package suppling a bare metal hypervisor, a management appliance (vCenter) and many greats tools that allowed my to P2V many monolithic servers.

Cons

There is a substantial cost involved as ESXi and vCenter licences are needed. These have increased following takeover from Broadcom. There are open source options available but without the support wrapper that VMWare provides.

Reason for choosing vSphere

As this time we needed a solid support wrapper as many of our production services were being migrated to virtual machines using vSphere products.

### "VMware vSphere a complete package for all your on-prem & cloud compute requirements"

August 27, 2026

5.0

Overall my experience was very positive with both the software products, the online portal and also the VMware team that supports the BT contacts.

Pros

VMware vSphere is a complete bundle of virtualisation and management tools which I found easy to install and manage. Within the business we use vSphere for on-premises and cloud compute creating virtual machines for our applications to run on.

Cons

There is sometimes a degree of complication with splitting out the products as they very closely tied together.

### "The Gold Standard; - At least until clients are completely priced out"

April 15, 2026

3.0

Vsphere overall remains in my opinion the industry leader in enterprise virtualisation, and absolutely still sets the standard that others are mesaured against. Weighed heavily against that though is the crushing price model that have forced the majority of smaller and medium sized businesses (and even some larger enterprise corporations) into choosing less mature solutions and competitors; so much so that it almost completely removes Vsphere and it's associated suite from the runnings, if not immediately then at least long enough for administrators to figure out a plan to migrate away. As a result these competitors are receiving more funding and seem to be catching up much faster than previous years (Hyper-V, Nutanix, Openshift, etc)

Pros

A solid industry standard platform that provides reliable virtualisation at scale. As the industry leader it excels at consolidating workloads, VM availability and providing excellent host and VM control for live/production environments. Features like vMotion, HA and DRS and critical and non-negotiable for maintaining resources without disruption and providing a seemless experience for end users and hosted applications. keeping downtime minimal and providing reliable infrastructure management and uptime helps VMWare and Vsphere sit comfortably at the head of the table, especially when discussing on-premise (non cloud) virtualisation options.

Cons

The biggest issue with Vsphere, by far, is the remodelling of their pricing and licensing structure. Since Broadcom purchased the vendor, they have narrowed their desired client-base to a fraction of their existing market, meaning that many small and medium enterprises are left in a very difficult situation, having to choose between switching to less mature technologies, or choosing to maintain their current stack at significantly hiked price margins. The recent shift away from perpetual licensing and towards core-based subscriptions has created a much more volatile and inflexible cost case for the vast majority of customers, and the constant restructuring of varying editions and packages makes it much more confusing when navigating renewals and the associated uncertainties.

### "VMWare vSphere has been a leader but Broadcom may be its downfall. "

April 27, 2026

4.0

I have been administrating the VMWare vSphere platform since it was first released. The product has done very well over the years, but lately cracks have forms and us along with most companies are looking for alternatives.

Pros

VMWare vSphere has been the backbone of the hypervisor infrastructure for almost two decades. Because of this, they currently have the best integrations with all vendors.

Cons

Since Broadcom’s acquisition of VMWare vSphere, costs have completely gotten out of control, we are no longer able to correctly budget for the product, there have been major disruptions with resellers, and the product feels dated.

VM Host Affinity Rules

Cons

I don't have much about vSphere. But now We can't download the vmware and vcenter path file in Broadcom portal.

vSphere is a robust solution for virtualization offering features such as vMotion for live migration of virtual machines, although costly, ease of use and scalability are just a few reasons why vSphere is worth the price.

Pros

vSphere is an established platform and has a strong track record in virtualization and cloud computing.

Cons

Licensing and implementation can be on the more expensive side for smaller businesses.

### "VMware is the best solution to virtualization"

November 28, 2024

5.0

VMware is the very stable and very easy to management, really the price is expensive but the features and services are the best option in the market of virtualization.

Pros

\-VMotion service to migrate virtual machines in real time is amazing. -The stability of the system working with clusters is the best option the in the market. -A lot compatibility with physical storages -Amazing management to discover datastores created in the physical storages. -The security updates to fix vulnerabilities are published very quick. -The dashboard to management our clusters is very easy to see and very light to load a lot of data in the dashboards. -The upgrades improve the VMware environment with new capabilities in storages and new OS published.

Cons

\-Since January 2025 the prices increased in a 600% in the licenses, in others subsidiaries the prices increased around 1000%. -Now the prices are very expensive.

### "Vmware - The Virtualization Standard"

December 5, 2018

4.0

VMWare... If you are virtualization, you've heard of VMware. The free options were a great way to get started, do some basic virtualization for those "silly" services that require a dedicated, standalone machine. Shrink 5 physical servers into one in no time. Then you want more big servers to do more. So you buy into VMware (at substantial expense), licenses lapse, or are difficult to renew (yes this happened, because the VARs couldn't process it right... nice huh? VMware was even involved and couldn't get it quite right). Soon you'll be all-in with VMware, modifying your hardware to meet current version requirements, nickle and diming your datacenter to keep costs low, when security budgets are the focus. You'll find yourself needing to do an upgrade to the VSphere, but not wanting downtime to do it, so you have to buy up to move it to another server in realtime, just to do updates. It gets a little silly. But, let's face it, nothing else comes close. I want VMware to have competition, but nothing else even touches it. HyperV? No. Anything else? Yeaup, there's a few opensource options, but it just cannot compete. VMware vSphere, when you need to virtualize something more than an old video game, it's pretty much where you have to be.

Pros

VMware is what you NEED in Virtualization. It has differing feature sets (licensed), based upon your needs. It has an easy barrier of entry for those just getting their feet wet, and has powerful features that are nearly unmatched. If you have servers, if you have a datacenter, if you are in charge of "Stand Alone" applications, you are likely dealing with VMware, and there is a good reason for that. VMware works, and it works well.

Cons

Not that VMware is not without flaws. The software works, but for some of us semi-whitebox server builders, we are forced to stay close to the hardware qualified lists. Or pay a premium for a pre-built machine that we pay even more in "maintenance." VMwares license tiers make it challenging to reach the more expensive, an often necessary options. VMware's partnerships with VARs are more important that with you as the customer. Expect to be treated that way, as VARs gobble up a large amount of costs, as quotes runaway from you. Just be prepared, VMware solutions do not come cheap. It's the best, and VMware knows it.

### "vSphere"

August 23, 2022

5.0

Easy to use and very helpful to create a virtual machine if you have a template and it will be ready within 5 minutes. It reduces the network and disk I/O failure.

Pros

With the help of vSphere VMware ESXi, we can create and run virtual machines immediately. We don't need to take care of dedicated physical hardware and maintain it by itself.

Cons

I didn't face any issues yet with the vSphere ESXi component.

### "Vmware vSphere is still our #1 Virtualization Software of choice"

February 10, 2022

4.0

This is our go to choice of virtualization software. I think that is probably more a case of being "used to it" than its functionality over Hyper V. The tides are changing, and Vmware is going to have to keep up with the pricing and support that Microsoft offers.

Pros

Excellent application support. Scalability Cost of licensing.

Cons

Terrible support for licensing and licensing renewals in our region.

Reason for choosing vSphere

We are used to vSphere - have certified engineers and software support internally.

### "I would choose no other virtualization platform"

October 16, 2018

5.0

As an administrator for VMware-related hypervisors and products, I would choose no other hypervisor or virtualization platform to run in my datacenter.

Pros

As a hypervisor, vSphere is and has been the best in class. They are always the first to come out with essential features (vMotion, vSwitch, etc.) and these features become daily used and reliable. I've administered hundreds of VMs over my career and have had little issue from vSphere as a hypervisor. Their feature set is phenomenal, and support is very good as well. Licensing can get costly, but there are several versions to fit your needs. What's perhaps more impresive is that as a platform, vSphere can be built into other VMware components (vCenter, SRM, vRealize, etc.) which keeps growing. Entering vSphere opens your datacenter up to a entrire world of virtualization products, and most third-party products that integrate with virtualization start with vSphere.

Cons

It is easy to get up and running, but it can also get complex depending on what you want to do. It can also get costly if you cannot get discounts and need full feature set.

### "Best cloud computing and virtualization software"

October 20, 2020

I am in Job profile as VMware adminstrator from.lst 8 years and I have implemented many clients solutions using VMware virtualization, it not only provides robust infrastructure but also High availability of infrastructure hosted over VMware. Features like HA, DRS, Virtual Switch makes its best available virtualization solution available.

Pros

1.) User friendly web interface, easy options to browse and work on. 2.) Deployment is easy as well as all components are contained within vsphere appliance like PSC, VAMI, Database. 3.) Robust and can be easily integrated with third party applications and plugins like NetApp, EMC etc. 4.)Update manager is also integrated which cn be used to upgrade associated ESXi hosts, and components. 5.) Appliance updates are available over VAMI, thus no need to deploy patches seperately.

Cons

I like the flash version of web interface which was removed in recent version, other that that I believe it's perfect.

### "My Efficient Virtual Space "

April 15, 2021

5.0

Here is very great and thankful experience using Vmware Vsphere , My lot of work are going to Smooth and Well organised My client issues solved by my team very amazingly and fast i think it’s very best and effective software for business and company so definitely i recommend this over any other software

Pros

VSphere is best and most efficient platform for manging virtual machine we can easily share the physically stored machine in the data centre to our client through the Vsphere , we can access and quickly resolve the issues of client using vsphere More well oraganizly

Cons

It’s most costly software but it provides lot of features but if you want to give suppose 20000 vms so you need to get the packages according your criteria, because each of version contains various no of vm’s such like vsphere 6.0 contain 10000 to 20000 , vsphere 7.0 contain 20000 to 30000 such like that so we need to pay accordingly our requirement so i think the price can differ and anyone can afford it for small businesses

### "Virtualization = VMware"

September 30, 2020

4.0

We no longer have to worry about buying new physical servers. We have 2 HPE blades chassis and 2 HPE Synergy across 4 location. VM migration between data centers is very helpful. hardware is being utilized at almost 85% and overall cost is certainly reduced.

Pros

I have been using VMware for almost 12 years, day to day operations had never been so easy. easy implementation and administration. we converted 95% of our server to virtual machines. My favorites features are online migration, high availability and DRS .

Cons

I didn't and still don't like the web interface, the old Windows application prior to version 5.5 was perfect and very effective. now with the new flash based interface is dissapointing. there is another HTML5 version but it lacks some features. i am hoping that they come up with a new version these days knowing that Flash plugins will no be longer supported.

Reason for choosing vSphere

There was nothing to compare at the beginning. Hyper V lacked most of the features and it was really poor. i can't say that now because I didn't have the chance to try the latest Hyper V but I was told that it got much better. However, I am not willing to change.

### "Extremely expensive but still worth it for legacy applications"

March 9, 2019

5.0

vSphere revolutionized the datacenter and is still running strong after almost 30 years. Without it we might still be stuck in the stone ages without virtualization or cloud!

Pros

vSphere has been around for a while and is trusted for it's stability and reliability. If your applications are not built to fail, if you treat yours apps like pets vs cattle, you probably want to pay for VMware vSphere. Depending on your use case, vSphere may be the only game in town. For instance, if you want to do some complicated GPU sharding, only VMware has worked with Nvidia to offer this. Certainly feature wise, this is the most robust hypervisor on the market. They also have a large ecosystem, community, and excellent support.

Cons

The pricing is quite high and they try to justify this by including more and more management software, SDN, SDS in the overall vCloud offering. However it's still quite expensive and difficult to rationalize in smaller companies with challenging budgets. On the flip side, they have so many offerings now and have create a variety of total solutions which can fit any number of use cases.

### "Virtualization taken to the next level"

November 18, 2018

4.0

My overall experience of VMware vSphere is great, It is the most secure, efficinet and stable virtulization software in the market.

Pros

VMware vSphere is one of the best secure and efficient virtualization software. I found following Pros for the VMware vSphere. 1. Configure and create VMs with ease. 2. You can easily clone existing VM and create a mirror VM is no time. 3. Very intuitive Web and local vSphere client. 4. Always attentive support team. 5. Easily monitor the status of your VMs. Overall best in class virtualization software and way ahead of its competition.

Cons

Found very minimal issues with VMware vSphere. 1. The web client is slow and can be improved. 2. A user must have virtualization knowledge to use this software. 3. For the free version, the physical CPU core limit should be increased from 2 physical cores to at least 8 physical cores. 4. Bit overpriced.
