### "VSphere"

September 12, 2022

5.0

You have installed your ESXI hosts, you have installed your vCenter on a Windows machine in your environment. It's time for you to connect to these environments! First of all, you have connected and configured monitors to your ESXI hosts, but if you have noticed, what you can do is limited on these screens. You definitely need vSphere Client software.

Pros

Increases application uptime and simplifies daily operations Enhances and complements your existing storage environment

Cons

better improvements can be made. System that may explode when you do not set enough swap space during installation

### "vSphere"

5.0

Easy to use and very helpful to create a virtual machine if you have a template and it will be ready within 5 minutes. It reduces the network and disk I/O failure.

Pros

With the help of vSphere VMware ESXi, we can create and run virtual machines immediately. We don't need to take care of dedicated physical hardware and maintain it by itself.

Cons

I didn't face any issues yet with the vSphere ESXi component.

### "vSphere One of the best virtualization tools"

October 22, 2022

5.0

Very happy, virtualization of servers is very important in the 2022 ICT world. vSphere works great, we use it for all of our customers and integrate it with DR tools

Pros

The way of use, very easy, stable solution, support of several types of hardware (and software, marktpleader, integration with DR solutions.

Cons

The price for using a version with several features you want can be expensive for the SMB companies but it works great! So it's the hogher price double worth!

### "Great software to manage virtual machines"

August 22, 2024

5.0

Is great to manage virtual environment, in our case we manage servers and is great to have an easy access and control most of the stuff.

Pros

The easy way to manage virtual machines

Cons

Sometimes it got freeze and affects your activities

Reason for choosing vSphere

We didn't compare with others, we used VirtualBox just for computers, not for servers, but we read from reviews and from old school colleges.

### "vSphere"

December 16, 2021

5.0

We went virtual in 2007 using vSphere and have never looked back. vSphere is the backbone of our datacenter environments and has allowed us to provide resources for application owners as well as integrate with products like VMWare Site Recovery Manager, so we can protect our data across multiple datacenters. It is a fantastic product.

Pros

When managed via vCenter, distributing virtual machines amongst distributed resources is about the most powerful aspect of this product. It allows administrators to maximize value from hardware purchases and create internal redundancies and high availability.

Cons

vSphere 7 introduced a new strategy in the use of the host boot disk to the point that certain types of boot disks were burning out and causing host servers to crash. VMWare now forcing customers to buy new hardware for existing hosts in order to avoid downtime.

### "Struggle to survive?"

April 9, 2021

4.0

It is a great software, even masterpiece in some aspects. But it feels as it requires too much resources and money to be justified in the most of cases. Most of consumers aren't going need it especially as there are free alternatives. Still one should carefully consider whether it is time for say Kubernetes or the company's requirements demands something bigger and more sophisticated.

Pros

It still a well-known and - which is more important - widely adopted solution tightly coupled with other VMWare products. it is very easy to hire required specialist or get help. In 2019 VSphere did a huge step forward embracing Kubernetes as a first-class citizen. Implies very strict and much safier application (vm/containers - depends on the poin of view and scenario) separation. Para-virtualization sometimes delivers on it's promise to speed up containers.

Cons

It is just way too huge without real benefits. Yes, it is offers a better separation of your components as every vm acts like separate computer. Yes, it is capable to run containers. Metrics are there, too and they are quite good. But. Do you really need it? There is much tinier alternatives . Kubernetes or Docker Swarm (can't recommend that one though) while being the solutions of a different class may still be enough for a vast major of scenarios. On top of that, vSphere is costly not in terms of licensing, it also requires a quite different hardware.

### "Vmware vSphere is still our #1 Virtualization Software of choice"

February 10, 2022

4.0

This is our go to choice of virtualization software. I think that is probably more a case of being "used to it" than its functionality over Hyper V. The tides are changing, and Vmware is going to have to keep up with the pricing and support that Microsoft offers.

Pros

Excellent application support. Scalability Cost of licensing.

Cons

Terrible support for licensing and licensing renewals in our region.

Reason for choosing vSphere

We are used to vSphere - have certified engineers and software support internally.

### "I would choose no other virtualization platform"

October 16, 2018

5.0

As an administrator for VMware-related hypervisors and products, I would choose no other hypervisor or virtualization platform to run in my datacenter.

Pros

As a hypervisor, vSphere is and has been the best in class. They are always the first to come out with essential features (vMotion, vSwitch, etc.) and these features become daily used and reliable. I've administered hundreds of VMs over my career and have had little issue from vSphere as a hypervisor. Their feature set is phenomenal, and support is very good as well. Licensing can get costly, but there are several versions to fit your needs. What's perhaps more impresive is that as a platform, vSphere can be built into other VMware components (vCenter, SRM, vRealize, etc.) which keeps growing. Entering vSphere opens your datacenter up to a entrire world of virtualization products, and most third-party products that integrate with virtualization start with vSphere.

Cons

It is easy to get up and running, but it can also get complex depending on what you want to do. It can also get costly if you cannot get discounts and need full feature set.

### "vSphere de VMware : Une Solution Incontournable pour la Virtualisation"

November 15, 2023

5.0

### "Big changes on new Vsphere 6.7"

August 22, 2019

5.0

Have been on the technology field for over a decade by now working with a lot of different virtualization technologies, by far this is one of the most reliable and easy to use out there. Have seem some weird issues with another virtualization technologies but vsphere always had a lot of redundancy to prevent the production going down once you have configured it correctly.

Pros

\- Stylish new look. - Better performance than previous versions. - Lots of support for security bridges not supported on previous version and hardware compatibility with new products and software.

Cons

\- User interface is annoying sometimes. Mostly this is one of the huge concerns for me on this new version, If i want to see the running task there are a lot of widget on the screen and need to zoom out the view to see some of the running task, or the alerts, then zoom in to read it correctly and zoom it out to see them again, is a little annoying for me but well it works... For anything else is pretty good.

### "Data center virtualization from the industry leader"

July 29, 2021

5.0

We are 90+ percent virtualized on vSphere, and like many others, it is a game changer and huge money saver. With vSphere using vCenter, we manage our entire virtualized enterprise in a single pane of glass. We use it to provision compute and storage resources, monitor performance, get alerts, and manage VM DR.

Pros

vSphere lets us virtualize nearly any Windows and Linux operating system we want, with a few exceptions such as AIX and Solaris, and manage virtualized resources across our enterprise spanning multiple data centers. It has multiple plugins for the storage we use (Dell EMC VxFlex, VMAX, etc). It is very widely adopted, so help is easy to find on the web.

Cons

I don't have any significant complaint about the software itself, but VMWare support isn't as good as it should be, especially given its size. Since VMWare is integrated with lots of different OS's and storage, there seems to be a lot of finger pointing when we engage support, and it's hard to finally get to a competent support engineer. I will concede that when we call support, it is nearly always a complex issue.

### "They're the market leader for a reason, but so many features means complicated UX"

November 14, 2018

4.0

Pros

Every feature an hypervisor can offer - widest feature set and ecosystem to deliver the most comprehensive solution. They scale very well across all parameters: Cluster size, datastore size, VM count, fault tolerance at scale Etc. Their VSAN is great for ROBO deployments, as you get a single pane of glass for all layers (compute, network, storage) HA / DRS / VSMC are all excellent tools for improving availability of the applications that drive the business.

Cons

Every feature means a complicated GUI, with way too many nobs to turn for a small deployment. They VSAN scales poorly in terms of ROI, as more often than not you need the All-Flash VSAN, which after 2-3 copies of the data yields low capacity at double or triple the cost of the (already expensive) Flash Media. Replication is nice but again limited in scale, works great in getting data off the ROBOs to the main datacenter but not scalable enough as a DR solution

### "Best cloud computing and virtualization software"

October 20, 2020

5.0

I am in Job profile as VMware adminstrator from.lst 8 years and I have implemented many clients solutions using VMware virtualization, it not only provides robust infrastructure but also High availability of infrastructure hosted over VMware. Features like HA, DRS, Virtual Switch makes its best available virtualization solution available.

Pros

1.) User friendly web interface, easy options to browse and work on. 2.) Deployment is easy as well as all components are contained within vsphere appliance like PSC, VAMI, Database. 3.) Robust and can be easily integrated with third party applications and plugins like NetApp, EMC etc. 4.)Update manager is also integrated which cn be used to upgrade associated ESXi hosts, and components. 5.) Appliance updates are available over VAMI, thus no need to deploy patches seperately.

Cons

I like the flash version of web interface which was removed in recent version, other that that I believe it's perfect.

### "The Dream Environment for Managing your Virtual Network"

January 9, 2019

5.0

Prior to transferring to my current school, my previous college used vSphere to help prep its team for the Pacific Rim Collegiate Cybersecurity Defense Competition (PRCCDC), and using it in that environment really demonstrates the power of the tool for virtualization of entire networks. Absolutely stunning tool in terms of features.

Pros

VMware products in general are known for being the best of the best when it comes to virtualization, and vSphere is no exception. The benefits of an easy to manage virtual network are numerous, you save on space, energy, and overall costs. vSphere definitely focuses on ease of management; need to patch all your servers? Takes a fraction of the time that SSHing into each one individually would. Need to shut everything down, or boot everything up? The processes are streamlined for you. Want to deploy a new one? The process, if you don't want to clone an existing one, takes minutes.

Cons

It has a very steep learning curve, mostly due to the learning curve involved in virtualization itself. You must be very experienced in virtualization in order to successfully use vSphere to its full potential... Or, at all, potentially. If you can't setup a virtual server and hit it from outside your network using VMware Workstation, you won't be able to use vSphere successfully.

### "Easy & Simplistic to use, yet full of features that make management of virtual machines easy"

March 13, 2018

5.0

Pros

Ease of access to manage virtual machines. vSphere allows for you to easily manage your entire Virtual Infrastructure, from the Data Storage used to house the VMs to the creation and management of the Virtual Machines themselves. Clone, Deploy, and Configure multiple VMs within minutes... You can stand up an entire infrastructure composed of virtual machines within a short time (depending on available resources) using vSphere

Cons

There can be a slight learning curve for anyone who has not managed a virtual environment. VMware vSphere has numerous functions, features, and capabilities and it can at times seem overwhelming; however, VMware provides great articles and knowledge bases to help even the most novice administrator become a vSphere power user.

### "Redundant Personal Business Cloud with less Overhead"

September 12, 2019

5.0

Overall the experience has been positive and we can't imagine going back to the days of physical servers for each of our server resources. The scale ability, portability, and redundancy are simply unmatched.

Pros

When it comes to servers, hardware is expensive and often not completely utilized. With VMware vSphere, we were able to virtualize our entire development and production environment paired with three medium sized servers. This gave us scalability we never had. Our servers are pooled and share the pool resources allowing us to expand our environment to up to 35 servers running across the three servers. With vSphere we are able to have failover in the event one of the servers go down utilizing the vmotion feature without a single virtual server being interrupted. It allows us to do 90% more maintenance without a single disruption.

Cons

The depth of knowledge to use the advanced features and scripting is intense. There are hundreds of individual features and settings that are very difficult to understand without the proper knowledge or training. Once you figure it out you won't go back.

Reason for choosing vSphere

Robust feature set and prior knowledge of the VMware environment

### "the leading virtualization platform on the market since more than a decade. A must "

March 9, 2018

5.0

state of the art datacenter automation, virtualization, infrastructure management

Pros

vsphere is the private-cloud datacenter operating system of choice, market leader, full packed of features and with an impressive ecosystem of third party products which integrate fully with it. Since more than a decade, vsphere has brought virtualization into almost every shop on earth and changed the way the IT departments administer their infrastructure, making it way more flexible, easier, faster and smarter.

Cons

i have a hard time when thinking about something I dislike in vSphere. I think that the product can be pricey, depending on the licensing level chosen, and this is maybe the aspect I dislike the most, even if I honestly believe that it is worth its money.

### "I can say "It is a Great tool for Virtualization""

March 2, 2019

4.0

Pros

VMware vSphere is a simple tool with advanced features for virtualization. I have used this tool for my studies, research works, and security purposes. It provides a great connection between the base operating system and the virtual machine and the configurations are also easy. Using this tool, I was able to run several virtual machines at once and it was very important for my research work. Actually, I need to say that without having VMware vSphere I could not make it. Integrating with the remote clouds also an advanced feature which is provided. I was able to make my OS images fast and effectively thanks to vSphere. As I mentioned before I use VMware for testing or do something which can be harmful to our base operating system. It can protect our OS from being corrupted. I still use this software and I love it.

Cons

The only thing that I distract from vSphere is when I need to run several VMs at once my machine is getting very slow or stuck. Sometimes virtual machines can be corrupted. Hence we need to keep backups always. Except from these things, I love it.

### "Best Hypervisor out there"

August 29, 2018

5.0

It's super easy to setup and get started, it's something that should be done in every single company I've seen in my life. Sadly, not all companies use VMs to my personal surprise. Only if they could understand how easy it is to transform your business environment with ease using VMware tools. Premium versions offer real value, so if you need more than 4-5 servers and a rock solid production environment you should invest in vSphere.

Pros

The console, the features, the true power of a hypervisor. I use ESXi/vShpere in every chance I get. It's super-light and very easy to manage, understand. Many benefits, it's a no-brainer!

Cons

Nothing serious, maybe it's lack of integration tools and features like copy-paste and file transfer. But really, that's something small and not needed when it comes to server use.
