### "Rock solid virtualization hypervisor"

November 16, 2017

4.0

Pros

Easy to manage and excellent ecosystem of tightly integrated complimentary products as well as VARs who can support and enhance our usage. Licensing is straightforward and with the ROBO licensing we are able to run vSphere in all of our remote office without a huge price tag.

Cons

The web-based management portal is noticeably slower than the older traditional client and while I understand the desire on VMware's part to not have to support and maintain another piece of software, I am disappointed by the speed of the current offering.

### "vmware vsphere is the leader of this market"

August 29, 2019

5.0

I'm using it from years, both esx and esxi version and i'm satisfied. I've to say without particural case vsphere is a must have on any baremetal server.

Pros

it's a leader and after a decade of development it's almost perfect. Finally has a great web console so administrator could use it also from Linux workstation . Software support and great performance and functionality like snapshot or thin volume make it a must-have on every bare-metal server

Cons

Sometimes some functionality are not easy to find so menu could be rethinked to avoid too clicks to build basic tasks.

### "So far this is quite functional"

July 12, 2018

5.0

Virtualization and a more stable environment than we had previously. A lot more resources and the ability to allocate more if necessary to environments that previously were capped out.

Pros

Complete integration of multiple physical units. Plenty of warnings and tools to prevent corruption of assets. vMotion is amazing in how quickly it can move production level servers from 1 machine to another seamlessly and without interruption during the day when lots of people are using that specific server. Lots of options for deployment and management of virtual environments.

Cons

Interface is obscure. Hard to find it is what you are looking for at times. Seems that a lot of the selection features are locked once you go live and can't be adjusted for future needs for example RAM values. Data stores can be precarious and volatile if you don't have them properly formatted on the first try.

### "vSphere reviewed by Infrastructure Specialist"

January 8, 2022

4.0

Pros

This is a wonderful infrastructure tool and I loved to use it for virtualizing cloud infrastructure also it works well with vCenter

Cons

The foot print can be reduced more so it can take lesser space and compatibility with hardware specially with new hardware and compatibility with NVMe needs to be built early for entry level SAN storages

### "Setup VMs and administrer with the the web client - No app needed. "

December 21, 2017

4.0

Simple server management and organisation.

Pros

Setup VMs and administrer with the the web client - No app needed. Allow you to setup and run multiple server instances both Windows and Linux on a single server. Adjust memory and disks with a few click. Organise and group multiple servers based on the different teams. Setup test servers for developers at the click of button. View server utilisations and load with simple graphs and tools. Move VMS from one physical server to another.

Cons

Can be slow to load when multiple VMS are added. Relatively expensive, although considering the functionality it gives using one bit of hardware for multiple server instances this can be accepted. If the physical server fails, all servers stop working. (Although if you have multiple servers the servers can move automatically when configured correctly with the right paid option).

### "Virtualization made easy"

May 1, 2023

5.0

Virtualization of computers in a centralized setup. Being able to manage multiple servers from basically one server computer

Pros

It is very easy to spin out a VM when needed. Having a good backup makes a big difference when having to restore a VM to a previous version. Easy to manage VM's .When support is needed, they are extremely good about it and very helpful to teach what happened and how to avoid it in the future

Cons

We believe vSphere has the tools so far to manage a business from a virtual stand point. We haven't come across a situation where we wish the software had a specific tool or feature to make something go easy.

### "Best Virtualization Software Available"

December 3, 2019

5.0

We have been using VMware vSphere for many years and have been on many different versions. VMware is by far the most flexible solution available and provides all features and management capabilities needed.

Pros

Very powerful and feature rich. The user interface is setup well and easy to navigate. Single pane of glass for overall status of hosts and VMs.

Cons

Price point. Licensing costs can be high based on features needed. If you only need the very basic features there is a free version available.

### "Virtualization software suite for data centers"

February 10, 2019

5.0

We are using 8 ESXi Servers hosting vSphere product suite for providing us hybrid cloud environment. We use this setup to host around 300 Virtual Machines.

Pros

Vsphere is a great suite of products for your data center virtualization needs. It has tonnes of features. It runs on ESXi server and comes with products that include ESXi, vSphere Client and vCenter. The vSphere client comes handy to directly access and administer ESXi servers.

Cons

The initial configuration can be a little overwhelming if you don't have enough experience with the product.

### "Best Customer Support"

September 7, 2018

5.0

Pros

If you are looking for a central solution to consolidate your data center and all servers look no more. This is the best tool you can buy to do so, you can save money because you will use less hardware by virtualizing all your servers, you can adjust settings, or server specs on the fly, you can run hundreds of servers from the same console and you can manage all of them from the same. Wanting to do maintenance but dont know if that patch/update or upgrade will break the server, dont worry, you can take a screenshot and test it before you apply the fix to the server. The best part of this is their support, you can call them or submit a ticket and their team of experts will call back and help you. Really recommend this product to anyone wanting to consolidate servers and save money on hardware

Cons

No complaints about this product, as long as you know how to browse and use the product

### "Best Virtualization platform available in the market"

November 13, 2019

5.0

Very powerful and efficient for server virtualization. With the latest 6.7 version we don't need that vsphere application any more. Earlier we needed that application to be installed on our local pc to manage vsphere environment. But with the latest web UI it's much easier and have more functions.

Pros

Easy to setup and use. Almost supported for every server hardware and storage's available in the market.

Cons

Only downside is the availability of training in some countries are hard to find. Even if you find training programs it can be expensive for the training and exam both.

### "We Run Our Business On vSphere"

November 22, 2018

5.0

I'm in management now but I started in an entry level postion as an Engineer, I been using vSphere since day one. It's a very easy concept to grasp, so if you have your premsissions set right you can trust your infrustuture to any tier of the sysadmin family.

Pros

It's a beautiful piece of so software that allows you to get the most out of your existing hardware and squeeze as much RIO as you can out of your recourses. It's easy to setup and manage and is Cloud Ready if you are just starting up.

Cons

It's pricey and takes some wits to navigate their licensing maze.

### "Using VMware to Virtualize Your Systems"

May 7, 2019

5.0

For years, I have been designing and managing systems using VMware products. Clients are very happy with their systems.

Pros

Much, much better utilization of physical server resources. VMware hosts are MUCH better at resources sharing than anything Microsoft has ever produced. Take 4 systems, say email, DB, file & print, and authentication/AD, and put those all on 1 MS server. Or... take that same box, install VMware ESXi, and install 4 separate MS servers on top of that, each doing only 1 of those 4 tasks. You will get much better performance in the later configuration. Think about that: By adding an underlying OS (ESXi), and then putting 3 additional OSs (the other 3 MS servers) on top of that, you'll get better performance. And, of course, zero downtime for any physical maintenance in a multi host environment.

Cons

Still not a big fan of the web interface for managing the vCenter and hosts.

### "VMware is the leader in the virtualized space"

January 26, 2020

5.0

Pros

It is the most prevalent virtualization technology in the industry so features are widespread and documentation, assistance from the community can be had very easily. Wide breadth of support for many hardware platforms & interoperability with a large number of software vendors. Cloud offerings with Amazon, Google.

Cons

VMware licensing is expensive. Like many other software companies, they've moved from a perpetual license to a subscription which makes the cost even harder to justify.

### "VMware is very solid."

December 8, 2017

5.0

Runs my client's servers on a daily basis.

Pros

Very reliable. The premier hypervisor in the world. I've never had a serious problem running it. Price seems pretty reasonable for small businesses.

Cons

The reseller program; a couple years ago they instituted a fee for resellers which pushed out a lot of small resellers like me. I kind of resent them for that. Customer support is expensive and hard to get if you're not paying a lot for it, but since it's so reliable, you don't need it often.

### "Hypervirtualization for the poweruser!"

July 21, 2019

4.0

Pros

vSphere allowed me to help distribute my resources rather than being tied down to one host operating system. With so many features on restricting usage, allocating resources and managing each individual VM I don't know what I'd be doing without it.

Cons

Support for older hardware is a bit of a miss, but I completely understand it. I'm pretty sure VMware doesn't want to support old 4th gen Intel servers, they're old and full of issues. It'd be simpler to just upgrade your hardware. Another thing is the UI on ESXi / vSphere vs. the UI on vCenter, VMware should try to modernize the ESXi user interface. It feels a bit clunky, although still easy to navigate. So, overall nothing to complain about. Just, small little things that don't effect performance, but more or less usability.

### "There is no other app like this!"

June 22, 2019

5.0

It is a product I would recommend as a virtual machine administrator.

Pros

If you want to use a virtual machine, this is the only product you should use without exception. Compared to its competitors, who do the same job, it is far ahead in the corporate sense. It performs virtual machine management in the simplest and hassle-free way. I recommend this product if you are a corporate company and want uninterruptedness.

Cons

Vmware holds this category in one hand and is quite high

Reason for choosing vSphere

Best functionality

### "The best choice when it comes to creating a virtual infrastructure."

December 4, 2020

5.0

Been running all of our workloads on vSphere for the past 17 years. We could not function as an IT organization without it.

Pros

VMware created the category of Virtual Infrastructure. Whether you are virtualizing your applications, servers, containers or network, VMware has a solution that meets the most demanding mission critical needs.

Cons

Very costly, it is the gold standard, but comes at heavy price compared to its competitors. It does however deliver.

Reason for choosing vSphere

Most dependable and scalable solution.

### "Great visualizer, install it as primary OS on a robust server and make it manage all your VMs"

March 15, 2018

5.0

Great VM manager, like it better than Citrix

Pros

If you must have many VM get a server with at least 8 cores and 32gb ram and make it the center off all your servers, you can make it boot into few servers at the same time, so you need a test server, a NAS, and some asterisk SIP solution, you can have all running on the same hardware, awesome

Cons

Expensive, if you have a work with use of VM will be awesome, for personal use is expensive but still great if you cant afford or manage it.

### "Good product for virtualizations, no matter what OS you need to deploy."

June 12, 2018

4.0

\-One of the best environments to manage virtual machines.

Pros

\-Stability for server environments, most of my client's resources are working with vSphere without issues. The most important thing to do is don´t forget best practices tips for the first deployment. -New interface with HTML5 it´s for me the best upgrade from the last years, no more issues trying to manage environments from Linux or MAC. -HA options and configuration works with single clicks, making easier for none IT guys. -Optimize budget for hardware and energy expenses, making easy upgrades and migrations.

Cons

\-Need an experienced partner to deploy it on business with more than 100 servers. This is important for newer users because partner services are very expensive, making professional services more than a half of the budget. -Old users need to adapt his knowledge to the new interface without the appropriate documentation. -The user guide is not very useful for new users, need more details and explain those tips that are not available on the web interface. -The mobile app is the worst feature on VMware, a year ago was the last time I tried to do something there. Until they get his effort on his apps don't spend any time on this.

### "Great management tool for VMs"

November 12, 2018

5.0

Pros

This tool (especially the HTML5 version) has come a long ways and works very quickly. It works on any browser on any device and still lets you remote into the VMs and do any of the different maintenance tasks you would need to do. You don't have to install the very large thick client any more or go to the flash management site either.

Cons

It could be a tiny bit faster at loading the screen when you click on a VM to see it's details or if you want to make changes.

### "Very robust software and compatible with almost platform"

January 10, 2020

5.0

Our experience is excellent almost all the critical servers run over vmWare vSphere and we can sleep fine knowing that it will not fail.

Pros

The support from the community is one of the best things to work with vmWare. Almost all the companies are compatible or run over vmWare vSphere. The stability that the platform have is one of the capabilities you must consider because get a failure is very rare

Cons

The price is expensive and if you need to other functions or manage your environment is other package that you have to buy separately

Reason for choosing vSphere

vmWare is the company with most experience in virtualization and one of the leaders in the industry
