### "If you run a VMWare environment, this is a must."

April 10, 2018

5.0

Pros

To centrally manage your VMWare cluster there is no better way in my opinion. This give you all your options only a few mouse clicks away.

Cons

I've never really found a downside to this software. It does everything I need it to, and has never really let me down.

### "Industry Standard Virtualization"

January 9, 2019

5.0

Handle expansive virtual environment with hundreds of virtual machines

Pros

The industry standard in handling virtual machines and infrastructure, tons of features, super powerful

Cons

Features come at cost and if you don't qualify for gov/higher ed/non-profit pricing, it can be steep

### "The best virtualization platform"

September 7, 2018

4.0

The best virtual server platform around.

Pros

VMWare has been around since the beginning, and continues to be the leader. Very stable, and great feature set.

Cons

Over the years the products have gotten more complicated, the names of products are always changing and confusing.

May 15, 2018

5.0

Pros

Overall, the vsphere environment is very easy to install, manage and maintain. With high availability, it truly is a very reliable solution

Cons

### "Our absolute standard for VM deployment and management"

September 18, 2021

5.0

Overall it's great! Customer service is not the best in the business though.

Pros

VMware is robust and powerful allowing us to create highly customized deployments of virtual environments for our clients. It requires a fair bit of learning to understand it's functionality (and not break anything), but once you master the basics, it's very easy to use.

Cons

vSphere used to have a fat client to use for management, and later versions have since switched to a web app. I like the flexibility of the web app, but it can be a bit slow and cumbersome to use. I'd prefer to have a fat client I could use on my primary workstation.

### "One of the best Server Managers, user friendly, easy to use for engineers"

December 5, 2019

4.0

It is really good to use it without a specific course, the interface is very user friendly, feels like you are changing or using your own machine and not a group of servers/VMs. THe possibility to take snapshots and revert easily for an specific image in just two clicks is amazing. I dont have an idea about the prices, but they seem to be high .

Pros

Facility to use and functionalities ( Easy snapshots, restore images, web visual page for administation)

Cons

For the snapshots it is missing one way to know what is current status of the image running. Despite we have the "you are here" indicating that the current image is the one indicated, we dont have a way to know that data was modified on the snapshot. We could have some kind of indication that the image is loaded but we have some sort of data modification on top of it, or not.

### "Solid system for on premise server virtualization"

March 15, 2021

5.0

I have had great success with vSphere and will continue to use this product in the years to come.

Pros

What I like most is the rock solid and consistent performance. this system is very reliable and I have had minimal downtime over the past 6 to 7 years with esxi and vsphere. The management capabilities as well as the monitoring are above and beyond.

Cons

It can be quite a bear to set up, network, and there is a learning curve in the beginning. However, once everything is set up and designed correctly it will perform great with very little intervention.

Reason for choosing vSphere

I became more comfortable with vSphere and the way it sets up versus the Microsoft hypervisor

### "VMware vSphere - The best option for IT people"

April 4, 2019

4.0

Pretty good.

Pros

Virtualization is something that every IT resource must know, VMware provides you the ability to virtualize all your resources, create network adapters from scratch, and connect them all across. Is pretty easy to use, but of course you need to have some IT background because the program uses a lot of terminology related to the Infrastructure side.

Cons

The bad thing is that to host this system, you need to allocate a lot of resources for this tool to work properly. If you have a lot of virtual machines running, the performance of each will be impacted directly if you are not hosting the VMware into a very good infra.

5.0

Pros

I have been user for years, i like the speed of the virtual machine and the complete tools for manage the server.

Cons

I think the most difficult part its make a virtual machine from a real linux enviroment, i suggest a tool to migrate the full disk.

### "Overall"

December 14, 2021

5.0

Pros

Since it does not have a fancy interface, it works very stable and fast, thus providing more resource allocation for virtual machines.

Cons

The price of the application is very high, it is a little difficult to understand the initial setup stage.

### "Game Changer"

February 22, 2019

4.0

The ability to create, move and manipulate Virtual Machines is a game changer. We were able to take multiple physical servers offline and migrate them to the VM environment. Without vSphere, we would have never made such a rapid migration from physical to virtual.

Pros

vSphere gives you the ability to connect to your VMs via the old school Thick Client or the more powerful web client. So you can access the VM Architecture from any computer in your organization.

Cons

It can be a bit of a bear if things arent working. There are so many Internet articles on different issues you may be having. You dont want to "try things" on a production server. Support is a bit on the expensive side.

### "I like that it allows us to optimize or resources and overall cost savings in IT"

March 7, 2018

4.0

Having been trained in VMware as my first introduction to the virtualization of servers and utilization of resources; I like what vShere provides. It reduces and simplifies our IT infrastructure and it allows us improvements in the accessibility and connectivity of our computer applications. The components included makes the solution really reliable such as ESXi hypervisor for help in which is responsible for help in setting up multiple VMs and DRS that divides and balances computing capacity for VMs across collections of hardware resources.

Cons

Please ensure that you are familiar with VMWare suite of products and get help from current users of this product. Know that this is an investment and as such the solution comes at a price but the total cost of ownership is well worth the initial investment. And the cost is based on the amount of host and processors.be careful of the additional services provided as they can become pricey.

February 16, 2019

### "VMWare VSphere Server Virtualization and Management"

May 31, 2019

4.0

I generally enjoy using the application. It makes updating and re-starting servers much easier than using remote desktop and being able to resize servers as business conditions change is much easier than using physical hardware.

Pros

VSphere makes managing servers generally quick and easy from a single interface

Cons

The online portal does not seem as robust as the earlier technician client application. Because it requires the use of Adobe Flash, every time I go to sue it I have to turn on Flash and refresh the portal. Sometimes the portal will not load and I have to exit and try again. It is just tedious and more cumbersome than the older application.

### "Why vmware"

October 19, 2020

4.0

Overall excellent software and does the job. Flexible software if excellent capabilities although not particularly cheap software you will have to pay quite a bit even though they have bundles

Pros

I have been working for about 8 years with this software, the uniqueness of vmware is the stability, very stable software with almost no glitches. It is very easy to implement things to add virtual machines etc.

Cons

The initial settings require the installation of a VMware specialist. If you want to install advanced options like vmotion you will need to arrange quite powerful and compatible hardware so that there is no decrease in performance

### "Very useful in large scale environments"

June 6, 2019

### "Reliable High Performance Virtualization "

May 31, 2019

5.0

Pros

The high availability and distributed resource scheduler ensure our systems are always online and performing well. The vSphere hypervisor is very stable, secure and easy to update. VMotion is amazing and allows workloads to be moved easily for updates and hardware maintance.

Cons

Licensing costs are high but are competitive with other platforms when you ensure you have the same functionality and features. The web based management does rely on Flash and this is becoming more difficult to work with as browser support varies. This may have been addressed in versions newer than 6.5.

### "VMware vSphere - Robust and very reliable"

April 20, 2019

4.0

Pros

It's easy to manage all servers from a single UI. I like how I can create one template from which I can easily create new VMs. It's a nice feature I find very useful. vSphere is extremely reliable. I've never experienced any downtime ever since I've been using it. The sandboxing feature is another thing I really find very useful.

Cons

Licensing can get expensive really quick. There's some learning curve required since it's complex and has lots of features that takes time to master. I also think the UI looks dated and in need of some refresh.

### "This is a powerful tool to virtualize datacenter"

May 22, 2018

3.0

Our servers are on this platform, it allows us to control resources and migrate data to other servers without stopping the service. We have some servers in this platform as a contingency if we have any failure of one of the servers we started the contingency,

Pros

It allows you to virtualize both Linux and Windows, you have a portal where you can see all the virtualizations, with ESxi you can have the same virtualized server with other virtual machines as a guest operating system which can be Windows or Linux

Cons

When we use the web client, the refresh times to access data are way to slow. When we try to support VMware remotely using the client, my experience is that it is slower and slower The Web client seems to have many things that are not useful

### "With this software platform, I am able to configure, manage, deploy and maintain any VM with ease."

December 14, 2017

5.0

Pros

Use of the web client or windows client is simple and clear. Some one with very little experience can create a VM or deploy an OVA in a short space of time. Even doing a VM migration using the wizard ensures that it feels like all you are doing is clicking next, next and next. There are copious amounts of documentation or videos to guide you along the way and if you require and help the customer support is very good.

Cons

The licensing for this software tends to add up to quite allot over the course of a year. So you have to make sure that you budget accordingly.

### "Vmware's on-premises virtualization platform"

July 10, 2020

4.0

We are using it to mainly host our business-critical SAP HANA VMs which require maximum up-time.

Pros

It is a very stable hypervisor with a plethora of features like high availability and V-motion. It also supports a wide variety of operating systems.

Cons

Software license is very expensive and user interface can be complex and difficult to navigate for new users.
