Pros: Does everything you need it to do - easy ordering, eprescribing. Good interface across the clinic (front desk, MAs).

Cons: Closing out notes drives me a little crazy. It will flag iteams as incomplete but they are actually done already. Click the same buttons several times and eventually it accepts your `change.¿

I am a user of this software and it is easy to use once you are aware where things are located.

Pros: The internal fax that was included in the software. It made it very easy and accessible to fax documents and records in Allscripts EHR. It wasted less paper by allowing us to fax things (ie; lab orders, diagnostic test orders, referrals) to other facilities rather than print it out and manually fax it from a fax/copy machine.

Cons: There was no shortcut to find documentation. I would have to search through documents by dates to find different messages or things that were scanned in. Once I was able to find what I was searching for then it was easy to locate the document again.

Overall: I was able to get referrals and orders sent to other facilities a lot quicker and easier.

Comments: Allscripts does not care about their clients, quality of service or patients. All they care is their vallet. Very sad.

Pros: After 10 years of using Allscripts EHR I don't think that I see any pros Their sales representatives are very quick to send you a proposal for contract

Cons: Very poor customer service, Patient portal is difficult to use: we have received multiple complains from patients. Allscripts charges and overcharges everything; they blackmale customers with long contracts with no services delivered on their behalf. Their sale department is unethical.

Comments: Allscripts is the EHR I would most likely recommend to a physician or office manager

Pros: I have demoed and or used most of the top performing EMR/EHR software programs and find that I had the most ease with Allscripts due to the functionality and ease of use. I have worked directly with office managers and physicians for the last 4 years of my professional career and find that Allscripts while a bit pricier is generally the more preferred system compared to other EMRS.

Cons: The biggest con with Allscripts is debatably more a con of the industry than the software itself. The vast number of companies now offering electronic health record solutions has completely saturated the market and it makes it tougher for even the more quality software programs stand out.

Pros: It's hard to think of any "pros" for this EHR. The one thing I did like about it in the three years I used it was that it had a feature where you could "hide" a task and have it reemerge at a particular date. So if I wanted to send a message to my nurse to call a patient in 2 weeks, it would "hide" it for two weeks and then show up in her inbox instead of staying in her inbox that whole time.

Cons: So many. While writing a note you are in one screen. To get to the rest of the chart you have to close that screen, go out of the note, go into the chart, go into the section you want the information, open up the lab/imaging/consult/letter etc..., review it, then close, and go back into the note. Very much non user friendly. This was definitely designed by computer programmers without physician input.

Slow, slow, slow. Interface could be more user friendly.

Pros: Medication and pharmacy database very complete. Design is ok but sometimes requires too many clicks to get where you want to go.

Cons: Number one complaint is the system being slow. Some days are worse than others. Also it is not very intuitive how to get from point A to point B sometimes.

Pros: I don't have a single word to say anything good about it. May be the people from India who are on support team with this company are the best. Most of the time they fix the problems.

Cons: It's not physician friendly at all; freezes up all most every day, horrible customer service; and particularly if someone is closing the practice; whether you are retiring or moving out of the state, you still have obey the termination date and either you pay upfront fees to the date of termination and or keep your license active and keep paying monthly fees for no reason. I regret that I hooked up with this company. You pay a big amount when sign the contract and you pay even more when you terminate the contract.

Pros: This software makes inter-provider communication easy. The custom order feature provides increased efficiency. Pharmacy renewal requests are seamless.

Cons: Unfortunately, this software makes it difficult to track laboratory results across time which is less than optimal in the medical profession. Take notes is far from simple as the program requires multiple clicks in and out of text boxes to create notes. Finally, the custom patient and provider lists are cumbersome to create and manage.

Comments: Terrible customer support. When call for customer support, always have to wait for them to call back. Price gouching, charging extra for everything. Charge extra for what supposed to be part of meaningful use. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN.

Pros: Can create template on the fly, good electronic prescribing, interface with labs. However, every complex system.

Cons: very slow, freeze frequently, error messages. Poor customer support. Every time there is update, we have issues afterwards. I have been using the system for 2 years and it's still creating lots of extra work.

Pros: Like the fact that it auto generates orders, requires a complete chart before it can be submitted. Like that I can see patients from all offices.

Cons: Cannot flip around in the chart (assessments to care plan) without completing the previous section. Do not like that it does not calculate travel time correctly. Do not like that fact that the branch cannot be selected on the visit. Do not like the fact that some of the sections contain assessments that are not specific to hospice.

Pros: You can connect with payerpath via the allscripts, you can also run multiple ERA at one time to maximize production

Cons: too many manual era postings, the options to prevent things from automatically posting a great but should be more defined

I used it for two years and so called updates caused so many problems the company I worked for had to offer classes on how to use it all over again.

Comments: I am very glad that we changed to EPIC.

Pros: Laboratory results, problem lists, and medication lists were easy to print. It was easy to send notes to coworkers.

Cons: There can be three or four places to enter the ordered screens (like colonoscopies) and only one will show up on the dashboard. The program crashes a lot.

Comments: We have been unhappy, but our Liason Sally Borel came to the rescue and set up meetings to answer our concerns and has kept in close contact with me. She is a big, big improvement over the Allscript liaison that we had before, Maureen. she never returned any phone calls or emails.

Pros: Careplan charting Support Team Sally Borel our Liason Fact that a clinician does not need to be hooked to WiFi to use Med profile more user friendly, still needs tweaking to be able to give to a patient

Cons: Not cloud based Need to sync in order to see documentation Need a server You charge by the license and not by the census Can not use the software on any device HHA care plan not user friendly

Cons: Constant "upgrades" that didn't do anything to improve productivity, only made it more difficult to complete my daily work. Customer support was terrible. Biggest drawback, now in hindsight, is how incredibly expensive it is. We started with them early when there weren't many options. I'd keep hearing from other docs how much they were paying for their EMR's and be thinking "no way, they must not have what we've got". Turns out, I was the one being had. I now spend less than half of what Allscripts charged me, and get office management and billing support as well. I have trouble understanding how they are still in business with their model.

Overall: Major headaches and a ton of ridiculous bills for no service.

Our expenses for a small medical practice were out of control with Allscripts.

Pros: There is nothing that I liked about the company. I pay the bills for our company and every month I had no idea what I was paying for.

Cons: There is a long term cost for literally everything you want to do or change. Their contracts are so lawyered up they are impossible to get out of. We just terminated our service and we have struggled through with them since 2008. They were our first EHR company. They have now sent me my billing information through 2026. I left a voicemail Monday which as of yesterday afternoon had not been returned. I sent an additional email yesterday in regards to the bill which has not been answered. I also left my cell number since I would be out of the office and so far no word from anyone to discuss our bill. My practice is closing and opening up under a new name and tax ID. Not sure how to handle their bills for the next 9 years.

Comments: The support I have received on technical issues is by far the worst I have ever experienced. Our issues are possibly stretched out over days to weeks. I submit our cases for support and most of the time I do not hear anything back that someone is looking at our case for days - sometimes I hear back the next day. We ask for guidance on server refreshes and they send us an out of date manual if we hear back. I have expressed our deep concerns when we experience down times due to lack of direction from the vendor. We had a down test environment for over 4 weeks and we had to reach out to another contact to get the issues resolved. I begged for documentation on what the fix was, and I have never heard back. We need to perform another refresh and are guaranteed to run into the same issues again. This is unacceptable as a company to offer this level of support to a paying customer. The company also only connects to your environment through SecureLink, a gateway that is usually non conforming to any sized organization's IT Security policies and preferences. They will not work with you on this issue either. I have not had a good experience with this company at the last 2 organizations I have worked that used Allscripts. This is my single point of contention in my job duties.

Pros: The product offers an ease of use for our end users.

Cons: Everything. The customer support is horrendous. The company's connectivity.

Pros: Easy to use and works with Dragon software. I like the macros templates that can be generated - saves typing

Pros: Easy lay out and easy to use. it has all the aspects of EHR like eRx, faxing, internal communications.

Cons: If you want support for your equipment, you have to purchase all hardware and software through them at 3 times the cost. We were trying to upgrade and their estimate included "education and training" for 3 years. When I asked to have it either removed or brought down to 1 year since we won't need it, they refused because it's what they think is best for us. Their monthly maintenance fees are very high and any updates I can't do myself, I have to pay extra to them. We were looking to switch to cloud based version but their fee is so high which didn't work for us either. In other words, once they got you and you are stuck with them, anything you want to do will cost you a fortune.

Pros: You can take breaks between patients while the EMR goes down quite frequently. The patients don't like it though when they start a riot in your waiting room. Because the software and cloud are terribly made and break down a lot you do get to talk to the folks in India a lot...that's where the IT is based from. Since they aren't able to help you and just say things like "this is a global problem we are aware. " That's really nifty but I have 15 patients waiting for me. This hasn't really turned out to be a PRO.... to be honest there really are no PROs.

Cons: high price to get out of contract. Shady company with a very bad product. This will be the worst business decision you ever make. You simply cannot get out of contract. In my opinion would never ever do business with this company.

Comments: Please , do not think about Do not ruin your life , your patients and your sanity over it. Inspite it is very expensive but changing software is not easy.

Pros: EHR with horrible customer support I do not like anything about it. May be email intergration . They return the call same day but useless

Cons: 8 months ago, we are getting multiple errors during the day, that paralyzed the computer and we have to restart the computer again that may take up to 10-15 minutes and sometimes more. Imagine this can happen 10-20 times per day which lead us to finish charting at midnight every day. Very frustrating We are contacting our attorney

Comments: The turnover within the company makes it difficult to establish a relationship with anyone if there is an issue. Routine failures in connectivity and lack of timely support create severe difficulty with work flow and patient care.

Pros: I have been using it for 7 years so familiarity is about the only saving grace at this point. It is a certified ehr vendor.

Cons: see review title. Follow My health portal was unusable. Third party vendors for additional add ons available for additional fees. I have been told that I will need to pay them for access to my patient records should I desire to switch to another vendor or retire.

Comments: Not happy with the Allscripts System. Have been with company 16 years, started with Tiger then Allscripts Myway, now Allscripts Pro. Unable to get problems resolved in a timely manner. Problems understanding the customer service, overall language barrow. Ask when to call in (Have you check the Allscripts Port for the answer first before call customer service) We are a busy 4 physicians office and don't have time to search for the answer to our problems) We need an answer so we can continue on with our daily duties.

Pros: Displays nicely, user friendly for the most part, easy to navigate, Doctors like having the dragon.

Cons: Problems with e-Prescribe, allowing the physician to free text diagnosis, doesn't show social security numbers (which would be very helpful for the referral clerks), If correction needs to be made in PM the corrections do not cross over to EHR, so you have to go in and do an addendum

Comments: It is so ancient. Not sure how they can say they are one of the best or leading in EHR?? Complete lie! Has any of the faculty or developers of this company ever seen any other EHR?? I'm guessing not. Maybe they should see some other EHRs or have experienced providers help them! You also get nickel and dimed on everything even when you pay majors dollars to have the program and have to continue to pay for services, monthly fees, and for every upgrade and added the feature. Their customer support is horrible because half the people don't know what they are doing.

Pros: Nothing. Well I guess I'm supposed to pretend that I like something to move forward, but I honestly cannot!

Cons: Everything from the layout, templates, workflow, e-scribing, how only one person can be in the note and you have to steal it or take it over in order to do your part. I can't even create a note on someone I saw last week because another provider had two charts open on this patient that needed to be finished. AND...I can't even view any of these open notes either even when I am following up on this patient and need to see some things. You have to enter each prescription and send separately. The search buttons for diagnosis, procedures, test, education is horrible. You need to be able to find one thing with multiple names medical and layman, most commonly used. The nurses should be able to put in their vitals and go into medication, history, social, family, etc.....at the same time I getting into the HPI, exam, diagnoses and plan. I should be able to see the entire note, every section, on one page so I don't have to do a tone of clicking to try and see everything. I want to see the entire note. I should also be able to see problem list, medications, and other things off to one side. If someone is trying to open a section I am in it just needs to let them know by saying "so and so is in this section right now do you really need to take it over as it wouldn't save anything." This was helpful with the last EMR I had at my last job as I could even ask the person it said was on if they could get out of the section if I needed them too. When you have a template, you should be able to select something, but still alter it. For eg. if you choose one of the already made master list options you can't even put anything before or after or in between the sentence. Even when entering days or weeks to some of these sections you should be able to free text and even put 2-3 weeks or whatever you need to put in there. It should be very easy to make templates and edit things. Have any of these developers ever went into a medical office to even see how busy and complicated it is. It needs so much work. It is SOO old school!! I seriously am so frustrated, I can't even understand how this business is still successful?? I'm honestly going to spread the word on this program as it is the worst investment ever. Also when running reports it doesn't capture everything. Also isn't very helpful for meaningful use.

Comments: Awful! The server is constantly down. The customer service takes 3-4 hours to resolve complaints. The representative they assigned to help us because of our constant issues does not return texts or phone calls. There are constant errors once inside the software (that is once in a blue moon when you could actually sign in). The fees continue at monumental cost once the software is paid off. Comments: All scripts takes advantage of doctors by getting them on 5 year contract and not giving the support to get the work done. Sending invoices which are not related and not having the professionalism to say sorry and correct the mistake. Fragmented service ie sending to different departments then taking care of the issue. I would be surprised if this EMR will make in in next 10 years. Those who have it review your contracts and find options.

Pros: It is Electronic Medical Record

Cons: It will a short term EMR as you will get a new one or retire prematurely due to frustation of dealing with it

Comments: We are a small three doctor practice. Signed with Allscripts in 2013 as Bon Secours Hospital was contracting with them and offering to subsidize portion of cost. Three years of struggling with customer support issues ranging in downed system to billing disputes. Our bookkeeper hired in Jan 2016 contacted Allscripts in January & was told account was in good standing only to receive a notice in April 2016 that we owed "reopened invoices" in the amount of dollars. We continued to pay current invoices and disputed the amount until they provided us with an audited AR history of our account. They responded by putting our account on hold preventing us from doing business. We agreed to pay the disputed amount out of necessity in order to continue to see patients and generate income. They refused to provide us with an audited AR history of our account to review the charges only providing data in an excel spreadsheet. Additionally, one of our partners is leaving the practice due to life threatening health issues. Allscripts is refusing to let us out of the 2 years remaining on her license.

Cons: They are too big and too impersonal. Impossible to reach out to someone higher up in the company if you are having issues with any department whether it be accounting or contracts. We are still in shock that they had/have the capability to prevent us from conducting business due to legitimate dispute even though we continued to pay them. They can and will prevent access to your records unless you comply with them.

Comments: I am a Home Health RN and have experience with Inpatient oncology and ER prior. I have worked with both all scripts and epic. Both work well in the inpatient setting but I prefer all scripts in the home health setting. Allscripts has a better chronological tracking of notes and overall picture of the patient. Epic has you hopping around trying to compare previous visits/nursing notes. It is difficult as the pt condition is more complex.

Comments: This system has been a challenge from day one. We have had numerous problems with it and have not found customer services and/or tech support to be helpful in resolving issues. We have been charged for services that were not functional... a complete frustration.

Recommendations to other buyers: I would not recommend this system. We have used it for a number of years and have been very dissatisfied.

Comments: Allscripts touts connectivity as a strength. Of all the EHRs with which we connect, Allscripts takes the longest and at the highest cost. Hub technology from eClinicalWorks gets a interface up in two weeks at one tenth of the cost of an Allscripts point to point interface. It appears Allscripts views interfaces as a cash cow for them.

Cons: Connectivity Difficulty creating and maintaining lab order catalog.

Recommendations to other buyers: Buy eClinicalWorks.

Pros: It has many options. It can do lots of things. All of the pieces fit together and work nicely.

Cons: It's not customized for my specialty. It's all very generic. I wish there were pictures for ENT staging, etc.

Cons: It does not seem intuitive and requires the user to go through many screens to accomplish documentation of a visit or assessment.

Pros: I can accomplish the job. There is not much more I can comment on as I have used this EMR. I have used EPIC, Help 2, iCentra and others in the past too.

Cons: The system closes at 9 PM - our customers may still be checking in late and we are abruptly interrupted and cannot check them into the system. Too much clicking - many functions do not work or fill in. Many templates do not allow for flexibility with constant billing problems when used. The system goes down fairly consistently on Saturdays from Friday night functions

Recommendations to other buyers: Have more customer service and follow the Revere Health mission statement and allow patients to check in at 9 PM, since door close at 9 PM and many times patients are still waiting to Check in.

Pros: The product is very robust. There are many good features with the product. It is a stable product. We've not experienced any major issues or problems when upgrading to newer versions. Product is fairly user friendly.

Cons: At this time I would have to say it is support. Not all of the support is lacking, it depends on the module in which you are needing support. Support seems to be broken down by teams. One of the teams seems to be weaker than the rest. I currently have a support call that has been open since November. I've tried several different avenues of getting this problem resolved but still have not had success. There seems to be no easy way to get to management to report these issues either. I think perhaps it may be growing pains. I've worked with Allscripts since 2007. It didn't used to be this way. It seems as though since their phone system has become more automated and support has expanded to include staff outside of the country the quality is lacking.

Recommendations to other buyers: The product is good. Make sure to review all the areas that are important to you. Make sure to have a candid conversation about support.

Pros: Quick response time for IT help. The IT staff are very friendly, just difficult to understand sometimes. I like how the EMR looks when it is printed out.

Cons: It is difficult to understand the language or accent of some of the IT help. Also my staff can not sych from home sometimes and we have been told recently that Allscripts does not work with VPN or remote access. This is and important feature that is needed for a home health company. I also wish that entering medications and ending them were easier. If we have a patient that gets admitted to the hospital for a few days, we have to end each med and then add them back in when they come back home. The way Allscripts medication feature is set up is not worker friendly. Nurses would love to give you input on how to make this feature much easier.

Recommendations to other buyers: Choosing a vendor that allows you to sych and works with VPN or remote access is important for a home health company. Improving the medication entry and discharging of medications. Allowing agencies to edit and create their own personal templates and questions.

Pros: I can't think of a single thing I like "best" about this EHR.

Cons: The AllScripts EHR we are using is terrible to say the least. Nothing populates to anything else in a meaningful way. If I give insulin, it should populate to the diabetic flowsheet. But I have to double chart everything. It isn't capable of connecting to our telemetry, so again, another entry. The physical assessment is ridiculously laborious to chart. It takes nearly 20-30 minutes just to open my patients chart. As I move from room to room to chart at the bedside (per directive), the log in and out time is very long. Once charting, there are far too many descriptors that mean nearly the same thing. The list of possible findings is so long that it takes forever to look through and it's not in any particular order that I can see (such as alphabetical descriptors so it's easier to find what I'm looking for). It forces you through some things line by line, while completely skipping others so I have to manually go back. For example - on the skin assessment, I am line by line forced through everything each time. But on the cardiac section, it skips right over the telemetry parameter if the patient's assessment was WDL. If I've added a tele parameter I probably want to use it. There are so many columns across the page it's mind numbing to look at and often leads to people inserting data in the wrong column. If a parameter is accidentally clicked but is quickly realized not to be the one I meant to click, there is no way to delete it, this leading to yet another grayed out but space taking place. If there has been no data entered in a parameter, we should be able to delete or have an undo action option. In short, we are health care providers, not IT professionals. I should never be spending more time charting about the care I am providing than actually providing care. And the worst part is that with all the endless clicking of boxes, I chart less meaningful things than I did paper charting! I have yet to find one person who likes our system.

Recommendations to other buyers: Take notes of those areas you are having trouble with. Poll co-workers to see if they have areas of appreciation or frustration.

Comments: We replaced our old EMR with Allscripts MyWay and upgraded to Allscripts Professional. The Allscripts product changed the dynamics of our office in several ways. First, there's our staffing. We still had a quite a bit of paper and scanning, due to the lack of functionality from our old EMR. Also, once we switched to MyWay, a lot of manual labor was eliminated. We were able to cut down on hours of staff needed, and also reassign staff to quality and other measures that helped drive patient volume and patient satisfaction. Allscripts' support is always one call away. It was a big change for us and took some time to get use to it, but Allscripts was with us every step of the way. I would recommend them to anyone medical practice looking to upgrade their EMR or converting from paper charts.

Comments: We were using Myway and had a "free" upgrade to pro. It has been a nightmare. The company support has been lacking. We were supposed to go live this morning and now they say we are not ready, even though they were trying to force us to go earlier, and now we have done all the prep and lightened our schedules. This is going to cost our company thousands and thousands of dollars for our "free" upgrade. I wouldn't recommend Allscripts EHR.

Comments: Allscripts PRO is not "sexy". It is, however, fully customizable. I am fairly computer literate, and was up and running smoothly within 2 weeks. I was also able to create templates with relative ease through the clinical customization module. In fact, cloning template to template, with minor additions and subtractions, makes the process run more smoothly. The patient portal is nice. The billing end is probably one of the best in the industry, with A++ reports. I have had PRO since the beginning. Support definitely needs a tweak, but having one staff member (not an MD) immersed in the EHR will help tremendously. I am helping a friend implement the system now, and am taking a one by one approach for two reasons - everyone learns on a different curve, and needs different levels of attention; and each person who becomes proficient with the EMR will be a source for the next one learning it. Originally, the implementation took 2 weeks. I spent 6 hours with the guy, then asked questions as I went along. I had him spend most of his time with the nurses and front office. Within 6 months, there was a clear difference in the office. We got down to 1.1 FTEs, and no paper!!

Comments: Our Internal Medicine practice has used Allscripts Pro EHR since 2004. Having gone through many upgrades and increasing costs through out every turn of the way. You will be charged additional maintenance fees for every interface you add. You have to download and upgrade everything mannually yourself. Support for Allscripts is lacking, getting anyone to call you back in a timely manner is impossible. We attested to Meaningful Use in 2011 and are still being trailed by an audit because there was not branding on any of the reports generated from the system. I have placed many calls to try to get a letter on Allscripts letter head that proves that we actually were using the Allscripts Pro version 9.2 when attestation was done in October of 2011. It has been 5 days and 10 phone calls later and I cannot get anyone to call me back. Allscripts big selling point in 2010 and after was their capability to attest to Meaningful Use but, they have no support for you once you have attested using their product that can prove their product was used and what version was used at the time of attestation. I am very frustrated with this company but being in the middle of attestation for Meaningful Use I feel I have to hang in there with this product until after 2015 when we will have completed all attestation that will be rewarded monetarily.

Comments: I am one of three obstetrician/gynecologists in a multidisciplinary group with cardiologists and a rheumatologist. I have previously used IC charting with success and I consider myself comfortable with computer technology. Over the course of two weeks, Allscripts was implemented. We were trained on patient visit input briefly while seeing patients in the office. Once the training staff left, we were on our own. We have had very little support. The system itself is difficult to use and you constantly feel as if you are missing patient information. In order to pull up a result you have to scroll through every lab ever ordered, every image ever scanned in, and every note put in. The scroll function frequently jumps to the next view so you are never sure you actually reviewed the entire document. Radiology reports and labs do not show up in the patient's note unless you manually enter the results/report. The obstetric add on (mom-docs) does not communicate with allscripts and all labs/ultrasounds/communications have to be entered manually. Once entered they are easily altered if you accidentally hit the scroll wheel on your mouse, so you never feel confident of your patient information. In order to review a lab or send a prescription there is a minimum of three clicks you have to press confirming unnecessary information such as diagnosis and linked visit. The lab/prescription is not attached to the note so the clicks seem unnecessary. At the end of the day you are worried you missed something like Rh status, an abnormal lab or that your note may or may not have been saved and may or may not be in the correct patients chart. We have now had this system for six months and these issues have not been addressed.

Comments: We use the Enterprise version (11.) in a large multispecilty practice. We used paper charts before this. This EHR is a Jack of all trades, but master of none. The user interface is antiquainted (the Pro version appears more develped in this regard) and oftentimes requires multiple clicks to get to basic information. It is hardly intuitive to someone like me who is very computer literate. The med list is hard to read and contains way too many details on the summary page. The note tools accept all forms of input, which is a postive, but the editing tools particularly for structured notes is absimal because of many bugs. Editing becomes a real chore and source of dissatisfaction. Input of laboratory data is not flexible in the sense that one cannot make manual entries or make custom feilds without significant tech support, which is lacking. Some of the order entry tools do not work correctly (standing orders to be specific), a known bug for a long time, but still no resolution. Problem oriented documentation is incomplete as there is poor connectivity between problem lists and an assessment of it (although, it does connect the dots for coding and for linking meds and labs to problems, just not easy to get too). Our in-house support staff are experiencing significant lags in updates and fixs for this product. To the extent that we can send scripts electronically and document changes in medication dosing, that part works well and should since that is where Allscripts excels. Its too bad that the rest of the product is so buggy and neglected. In short, I would not recommend the Enterprise version of this product. The ratings page for this site should probabaly make a distinction between the 3 products offered by Allscripts since they are not all the same.

Comments: I am with the writer who stated that Allscript (myway version) is only user friendly to the PCP. The notes are horrible and items populate into sections that u did not choose. The pt history does not come over to the progress note. So there is no credit give to this unless you type. I am soooo very behind due to it has slowed me down soooo much. The transcriptions gave more information about the office visit than this EMR. I find the information is inaccurate and we have to add too much. The tech support is a joke. They sent someone out here three times to figure out why our scanner was not connecting to the computer. They rewired things spent days and one day I sighned onto the desinated computer for scanning. Just as Allscripts personal had done and guess what? A pop up box came up and stated, you need to refresh your scanner. I went there, hit refresh and it worked! Really, no one saw that before now one week later. This whole system is awful. Training. That is not good either.

Comments: I am a member of multi specialty group with more than 100 physicians that started using Allscript at 2010. Reading the reviews of my colleagues who gave more than 2 star to any function of Allscript, I am very curious to contact them to make sure that they are using the same software. In summary:1- Allscript is designed for dealing with very low complex problems that there is no need to type any impression/plan and carry over any part it for the future note. Example : impression: cough, Plan : Benadryl. If you are planning to prepare a more complex note than this, forget about Allscript. 2- Forget about customer service. I am getting the same impression as my colleagues that the company put all of their resources in sale and nothing in customer service and development. 3-At worst I am worried about the legal liabilities. when preparing a note in many occasions statements and impression from notes from other colleagues appears in my final note which is very concerning.

Comments: My four member internal medicine group has been on Allscripts EHR since October 2011. We love the system and have completed meaningful use. However, anyone considering this system should be aware that the support system is abysmal. My guess is that most of Allscripts resources have gone into the sales and implementation of the product and not enough resources into the tech support. We are having technical issues with various parts of the system "going down" for days to weeks at a time and have been unable to have a timely resolution of our problems. If you are considering this system, I would suggest that you look into this area.

Comments: I work for NBMC (North Bend Medical Center) in Coos Bay region, OR. We just implemented Allscripts. In short, it¿s been a horrible experience. They outsourced the training to a bunch of recent college grads that knew nothing of medicine or the practicality of an EHR when it comes to patient care. Basically, the training was not substantial because it did not prepare our multispecialty group for the transition. I would estimate our lost production cost in the 100's of thousands. The advertised support is absent from Allscripts EHR. You sign the contract and they disappear. This system still has incomplete data downloads for your referrals, medications, labs, templates, and the CPT/ICD-9 coder does not calculate your work correctly, often under billing.

Pros: Easy to use and teach
very adaptable to a user with respect to ros/PE/short lists

Cons: can be clunky to use and run reports out of
sometime not intuitive on how to use (see labs set up and catalogs). Teaching, videos, ongoing help with understanding the product with new releases and when new services are offered

Overall: I think this is good product that is adaptable to vareity of ways providers think about patient care. I know it is a struggle to adapt to every different way that providers provide care. Need to focus on support and undertanding the issue and not tryin to run down a checklist, need to have better assistance with updates and new features on the product to make sure all clients are using the product to its fullest.

Pros: It has a lot of functionality, a lot can be done and documentation can be followed and found easily.

Cons: It is hard to customize templates and work with output manager. Some of the way to handle entering results could be made easier. It lacks the medical use side. I think that maybe actual users should be part of the design since we understand the actual use of the program. Documenting should be made easier and ways to fix within the system should be eaxsier as well.

Overall: It is over all a great product it just needs some user-friendliness.

Pros: Easy to use, does not take a lot of training for providers. Good tech support.

Cons: Harder modules are more difficult to master, such as the Output Manager, clinical customization module, reporting module, mapping of LOINC codes in lab catalog, creating custom reports.

Overall: More user friendly documentation on how to use features in PDF form as opposed to webinars or web videos. I would love to see a library of "how to" documents on all the various modules for customizing and building templates, etc. The things the "super users" need to know in order to customize the EHR as well as train other employees.

Pros: It is a fairly easy product to use once you get through training and figure it out. Makes our life easier when it works properly.

Cons: Sometimes when things go wrong it takes a while to get someone to work your support. I have a couple of support tickets open currently that have been open for several months.

Overall: I would recommend the product to other users, but warn them of some of the support issues. We've only had one instance of an urgent ticket that took what we deemed too long to solve.

Pros: It works to keep medical records in one place.

Cons: Reporting and OB Records are useless. You cannot easily retrieve meaningful reports. I have been working with support for 6 months to just try and retrieve certain lab and radiology reports. It is not user friendly for multiple practices. Support is terrible even if you get someone you can understand which is rare due to the language barrier. It is not easy to document using information from a previous visit. There are always bugs and I am tired of hearing "that case is with development". I am tired of training support on the system. They should be training me. Output manager is too complicated. Currently my function access does not perform as it should. Too many bugs in this system.

Overall: I would not recommend this system to a new clinic at this time. I wish I could switch to another system.

Comments: First you need to distinguish between Allscipts PRO and Enterprise. Pro is for practices under 50 physicians and is based on a modern, flexible backbone. We have had PRO installed and running since 2005 and find it to be flexible, powerful and easy to interface. Standard templates are usually not sufficient in any software and we have spent time developing ones that fit the physicians practice. It is also stable and upgrades are timely and usually bring new and better features. Our service and support has generally been above average but sometimes we have to go up the chain of command to get what we need, when we need it.

Comments: I have been using Allscripts EHR in my cardiology practice since 2000. We are currently on version 8.2 with an update to version 9.3 scheduled in 2 weeks. Four providers are currently on the system. It is soon to be expanded to the remainder of a merged practice, with a total of 21 providers, who will then be on the EHR. It has been a very stable product and is quite easy to use for documenting visits. I am able to complete documenting a visit and am able to generate referral letters on most patients before they leave the office. Electronic prescribing is very easy. We have exam and history templates to cover most of the common types of visits for both new and established patients. We have templates for reporting tests, generating letters to patients, and referring providers. These can be developed in the office without needing support from Allscripts. I do not have experience with the meaningful use tools yet, and need some training before I will feel comfortable with the reporting capabilities. We are able to train new staff to use the EHR quite rapidly. Customer support, when needed, has been satisfactory.

Comments: We have had Allscripts since October 2010; our practice has 3 physicians, one of them practices Nephrology and the other Endocrinology in addition to Internal Medicine. Our experience with Allscripts has been really terrible, from implementation to maintenance. The software is appealing, but not customized despite all claims. Then when you customize some of its components like the reason for visit, you lose all templates after the first system upgrade. What¿s worse is that many duplicate "reason for visit elements" do not work; meaning you click but no words appear. The shortlists of the A&P remain however. Customer support needs work although promised to be 24/7 by the salesman; they cannot fix any problem, they keep asking for more money because fixing some elements of their program apparently are not covered in the contract. I warn everybody to read the contract very carefully and see the actual customized templates before committing; do not take the word "we can do this and that" for granted. Unfortunately we are stuck with this system for now and have learned to type... and we did not opt for anything cheap; we paid at least $75,000 by now, and we keep getting bills outside the regular maintenance. I have to say that Allscripts ePrescribing is fairly well set, but the connectivity with the laboratory and with our previous practice management system is still not working right. We got the incentive for the first year of use, but we probably wont for the next years because the reports run by the system are incomplete, like showing that a BP or HbA1C check are overdue, when they were actually done within the past week! Also, the screen view does not print accurately, like the pulse oximeter readings are not captured in the print version of a note.
