Despite being on the other side of the globe I could discuss my problems at times that fit me with the head of development. Cons The User Interface is not up to standard; it's a typical turn of the century (or earlier) Windows interface, and it could definitely do with an face lift. The price is too high as well. Both applications' codes may be found online, and a user can easily audit and customise the software because of this. As a result, your personal data will not be stored on a public cloud controlled by anyone else. Cons The complexity stems from an earlier period of the software when developers crammed as many features as possible into their products in an effort to appeal to the broadest possible audience. Things I don't really need will always be present, but removing them from the user interface is complicated. Pros My company used (and currently using) Feng Office to manage employee tasks, emails, etc.. Feng Office is the perfect choice for business owners as it is pretty easy to use, have a lot of features and it is built perfectly. Cons Some little bugs and a pretty complicated documentation, however, it is still a good choice for business owners to manage their teams.. For our small research group, we found it may be unnecessary to employ such a powerful corporate system for business information integration.. Pros FengOffice has an open-source Community Edition available for anyone to use and a Professional Edition. The source code for both are available. This means it is easy to audit the software and modify it for user needs. The suite can be self-hosted which ensures that your private data stays off an anonymous cloud server owned by someone else. Feng Office offers a good GTD workflow for managing email flows and has a very clear, intuitive interface. Users can easily categorize the urgency of tasks and assign them to different team members. The information organizing features are also quite good. Feng Office allows users to categorize data, including email, in multiple virtual folders (which they call "dimensions"). Users can activate numerous "dimensions" to find suitable ways to categorize their data. Cons The Feng Office website does not indicate when the latest revisions have been released so users have no clear idea on whether Feng Office is actively developed. Also, have been unable to find recent tutorials on the use of Feng Office. All of the tutorials are from 3 years ago or more. Reasons for choosing Feng Office Our small team wanted a tool to manage progress on several projects. Feng Office fit the bill. We're still checking to see if it will work for us. (I really wish Jira did this). Cons Runs slow, especially on the calendar page. Does NOT support PHP versions above 5.6. (And as PHP 5.6 is now end-of-life, so this is forcing me to find a replacement). In order to update the calendar, I have to refresh the browser tab, then navigate back to the calendar. Cons It's a bit elaborate; it comes from an age of software that tried to be all things to all people by cramming in features. There will inevitably be things you don't need, but it's hard to make those things disappear from the UI.
