### "The solution for your 3D modeling and design needs."

August 26, 2023

4.0

KeyCreator is of great assistance to those in manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, and industrial design. Personally, it has helped me in industrial design.

Pros

The feature I liked is the direct modeling approach, which allows creators to directly modify 3D models without being limited by parametric history. It also offers the ability to create solid models and 2D drawings, enabling the creation of complex geometries.

Cons

I believe that in terms of customization and automation, there should be further improvements. The ability to create macros and scripts is not very advanced and could benefit from a renovation.

### "User Friendly"

January 24, 2023

5.0

Pros

Easy to use and very helpful with the massive amounts of older files we had that needed to still be opened that no other software could do. Example, .ptn and .prt

Cons

Some of the files that we open from customers that use AutoCad have issues bringing in all of their information. This could possibly be something on our end that we don't have set up right though.

### "Unknown Software"

July 10, 2019

5.0

File translations give us a huge advantage over competing businesses. Building the model is similar to working in the shop with milling, welding which makes it very intuitive for those of us that work in both designing, machining, welding and building machines.

Pros

We get models from Europe that I have no idea how they were created. With KeyCreator I can always open them and work with whatever type or vintage they are. If there is any problem with the model I can have it sent as a STEP or IGES and work it out. Having used this software for a long time I like the Classic Interface using the F keys. A person memorizes the sequence of keys and it is like playing the piano. For example, 6 6 4 1 1 to move entities to another level. 4 1 1 1 to move an entity. I still use the custom control bar with icons but the F keys are very fast for common repetitive tasks.

Cons

I would like to see a very basic version that our maintenance techs could use to sketch up welded frames ducting and simple machined parts. They may only use it once a month but a simple version for a few hundred dollars would help them out. They would have the option to upgrade when they start using it more.

### "KeyCreator"

November 5, 2019

5.0

We use KeyCreator to help us in modeling for simulation; it helps us translate and simplify models.

Pros

KeyCreator is very versatile. If you need your model to be flexible, it can model in both 3D and wireframe.

Cons

There really isn't much I can say that is bad about this product. Larger models may have a tendency to process slowly is about it.

Reason for choosing KeyCreator

It's versatility and ability to easily use wireframe geometry.

### "Pretty good, but difficult to interface with industry standard Solidworks"

July 3, 2019

4.0

I have used KeyCreator for 10 years so I have loved it, but the difficulty working with Solidworks files is almost an insurmountable problem at the moment.

Pros

The price is good compared to Solidworks. The interface is relatively easy to use. The customer service response time is sometimes good, and other times very difficult.

Cons

The biggest problem KeyCreator has is that the industry standard in 3D modeling has gone to Solidworks which means that Kubotek needs to be able to interface with it. That appears to be a challenge. Most of my customers use Solidworks so it becomes a challenge to interface with them. Also, it is really easy to have files become messed up (meaning extra lines, faces warped, etc.) and not so easy to fix.

### "KeyCreator 2D user"

June 27, 2019

4.0

KeyCreator is a legacy software where I work. We have since added a currently very popular modeling software. KeyCreator will likely become unnecessary for us at some point and will be discontinued here.

Pros

2D sketching is relatively easy. There are options available that save time, such as tangent lines to circles options.

Cons

The software seems glichy at times. I often experience odd issues, such as drawings disappearing when toggling between model and drawing views. They can usually be retrieved by highlighting the area. Another example is inconsistent snaps then dimensioning. Sometimes an additional line is required so the software recognizes where to snap, even though there is already a snap location there.

### "Complete Control and Fast!"

October 5, 2018

5.0

I have used KeyCreator to design parts, prints, and assemblies for just about any idustry you can think of, as well as for a fast calculator, a translation software, and have been able to exploit just about every aspect of the capabilities of this software. I love KeyCreator!!!

Pros

Complete control! This software doesn't take anything for granted. If you want to do something you tell the software exactly what you want to do and that is exactly the results you get. KeyCreator makes no assumptions! NO mating constraints required. Place a part and move it instantly, you dont have to search through an endless feature list, to find a specific sketch to modify. If I want to edit something I just edit it! Simple, Fast, Easy!

Cons

Even when a new feature is introduced, if the bugs aren't worked out there is always some work around that you can figure out! So even the bad things about this software are a testament to how good it is!

### "Keycreator Review"

June 26, 2019

3.0

Being a 20+ user of Keycreator and know the software Inside out and it is a great tool for read and review files from our suppliers / customers. It also a great tool to make quick sketch or 3d reprensentation but Don't expect this tool to be a very robust solution for handling more complicate task of managing files. I think it fits well in small organization that are looking for a good bang for the buck solution

Pros

Keycreator is cheaper than ost MCAD software on the market. Easy to install and use one you are use to it you can import and work with almost any CAD file format and use the geometries as they were created in Keycreator.

Cons

Keycreator is far from being perfect. The interface is a bit outdated and many of the latest new features are not really well implemented as if there is a lack of cohesion. Layout mode is not the greatest and is not robust or reliable enought for most use (drawing updates create akward results). Defeaturing is one great feature of Keycreator but it is not working all the time.

### "KeyCreator"

June 26, 2019

We have been using CadKey/KeyCreator for over 12 years now and have been able to grow our business.

Pros

Easy to use, very little file maintenance required. It has a good translator package for importing files.

Cons

3D Solids package is not as user friendly as other software packages I have used.

Reason for choosing KeyCreator

Mostly because of familiarity to the product with all our users and we were able to open our legacy files without any issues.

### "Behind the Times"

July 3, 2019

2.0

I was trained in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, ProE/Creo. My first job in engineering has been as a mold designer. When I first started all we had was KeyCreator for the first 7 years. Finally after upgrading to SoldWorks I am realizing how much time we could have been saving upgrading to SolidWorks years ago (like I wanted to do btw).

Pros

It has some unique niche features that would be helpful in mainstream CAD packages, but it doesn't keep a model history. I can't imagine how many hours I've wasted over the years rebuilding part models for simple changes that SolidWorks can do.

Cons

No model history whatsoever. Slow and very laggy - most of the models would jitter around because the software couldn't handle the file size. For instance I was putting hundreds of holes in a mold plate and it took hours just to get the holes in there. It isn't great if you are designing multiple iterations of parts because the models aren't linked, so you have to make hundreds of manual changes.

### "Easy to use"

June 27, 2019

5.0

I have been using KeyCreator, and before that it's predecessor, CadKey for almost 30 years and I like the fact that when they release new versions of the software, I can keep my old icons so I don't need to relearn symbols or locations like some software I have used in the past.

Pros

This software comes with translators that allow you to import from all of the major CAD programs that are on the market. Once you learn the essentials, drawing in 3D is easy to do.

Cons

Printing photo realistic models needs a separate module, it would be nice if it was included in the base software.

### "KeyCreator - Most User Friendly but not commonly used"

July 29, 2019

4.0

There are some outstanding features of KeyCreator like being user-friendly and creation of quick drawings. It is a great program for a start but you will have to learn some others too since KeyCreator is not common enough in business life.

Pros

I have been using KeyCreator since my university education. I strongly believe that it is the most user-friendly CAD program. It is a great program to start working on these types of programs. And one of the most important feature is the ability of doing simple 2D drafting. It enable you to draw a quick concept sketch.

Cons

From my point of view, the main issue is that it is not the first option in the business life. There are some other programs which are more commonly used although they are not user friendly as KeyCreator. I have never seen in a job posting that ability of using KeyCreator is needed.

### "Strong Drafting from your model"

July 17, 2019

5.0

Pros

The software is complete in that you can easily create solid models and detail them in layout mode while keeping the association back to the model for most instances. This makes revisions easier to handle especially when setting the job up as a template and having your model and documentation associated to each other in one file.

Cons

I would like to have section views from an instance keep the association. I would also like to have a dialog box stay open if I right click.

### "EFFICIENT."

February 1, 2019

5.0

I HAVE BEEN USING THE CADKEY/KEYCREATOR PRODUCT FOR YEARS. I HOPE I NEVER WILL BE FORCED TO USE SOLIDWORKS.

Pros

\*3D & 2D IN ONE PACKAGE. MY MODELS ARE NOT ASSOCIATED TO MY 2D - THE WAY IT SHOULD BE. \*GREAT TRANSLATORS. \*GREAT 3D TOOL. I HAVE NEVER RAN IN TO SOMETHING I COULDN'T DO. NO RESTRAINTS. EASY TO EDIT. \*EASE OF FILE MANAGEMENT.

Cons

KEYCREATOR 2019 IS UNSTABLE ON MY COMPUTER. IT WILL OFTEN TIMES CRASH WHEN SAVING, OR WHEN I "CLICK" ON ITEMS TOO FAST. KEYCREATOR 6.5.2 IS STILL THE MOST STABLE VERSION - THAT IS WHY I STILL KEEP THAT VERSION ON MY COMPUTER. I HAVE ASKED SUPPORT FOR HELP WITH THIS ISSUE MANY TIMES, AND THEY CAN'T SEEM TO HELP ME, WHICH IS DISAPPOINTING.

### " Long term user "

July 10, 2019

5.0

Have been a user since the early days of CadKey. Has just kept getting better. Does exactly what they claim and customer service is excellent and not ‘big company’.

Pros

Simplicity, ease of use, reliability. I also like the fact there are many ways to approach a design task. I tried Solidworks but always felt restricted in my designing. With KeyCreator I always feel I am in control rather than the software controlling me.

Cons

Few cons, adjusting display colours can be a bit tedious.

### "KeyCreator is better than other Software"

July 9, 2019

4.0

Pros

No Design Tree like other software out on the market today, which I believe makes is easier to solid model. I use both SW and KeyCreator, by far I like KeyCreator more.

Cons

Most of the time when compressing or flattening a solid part it likes to leave little lines on the flattened shape, which can make it a pain when using the geometry for software like Espirt that uses 2d drawing for programing.

I've been a user for about 30 years and have used every version. With a few exceptions each version has been a great tool for me. Never understood the benefits of a Parametric (history based) software. I like the direct approach for what I design.

Pros

Fast Easy to navigate and understand Easy to edit geometry (no history tree) Multiple ways to accomplish tasks Customization of the interface Dynahandles for dynamic changes to geometry Good support and teaching tools Great Translators

Cons

Could have better graphics for High res monitors Icons appear outdated Locks up too often Lack of a CAM software Price compared to what's available today

### "Seemingly unlimited potential to be an added income stream to our business "

February 6, 2019

5.0

The jury is still out regarding our decision to stick with the program but overall our experience has been a positive start.

Pros

The best value I've found thus far in learning to work with this software is the built-in translation feature allowing me to seamlessly integrate imported 3D scanned data enabling us to create period correct architectural replacement fixtures for historically significant restoration projects. The ongoing training modules are very clear and helpful reducing the overall learning curve for the average user like myself. I admit I am still developing my fluentness having used it for a short time, but I can see the integration of the capabililties into our current scontract services has allready set us apart from our local competetors.

Cons

It is a little intimidating to try and successfully use understand such a limitless software program the functions and applications I have had to commit a considerable amount of time on training webinars and included tutorials in order to achieve a moderate literacy level with this program.
