I think it is the most versatile simulation package. A better online resource or community to help others would make it perfect. I used the ABM tools only. Still plenty to learn. I am quire interested in the SD and ABM hybrid modeling. Pros A fantastic tool to solve complex problems. I really like the web support (videos and examples). Cons Not easy to learn. Very steep learning curve. Great software, and great resources available for assistance! Would highly recommend to anyone! Pros Very user friendly. I had learned simulation on a different software, but did not fully understand it's capabilities until working on a senior design project in AnyLogic. The ease of use is incredible compared to others. Furthermore, the resources available just in the software itself helped me build a model almost effortlessly. Cons I have not found any cons in the software yet! One improvement is that trying to teach myself through available YouTube videos could be a better experience. There are not enough YouTube example videos available for this product yet. Though there are multiple free pdfs available on the AnyLogic website, people now prefer videos. I have gotten very good feedback on their use in classrooms. Pros The software has a variety of models available for users in AnyLogic Cloud - these models can be used judiciously to improve students' understanding of complex topics in less time. Also, the Help is not strong for SD modeling! Low spead Hard to export to excel or text. please make it easier, or if there is a way, so please put lots of examples in your help!!!! the links in SD modeling cant be edit!!! learn things for editing the links in SD like VENSIM do simply! It was fun but at times frustrating. I may try AnyLogic for applications at work. Pros It was fun to buidling model structures using the differenet libraries: road traffic; agent; pedestrian; and systems dynamics. Cons Defining the behaviour of models was time consuming and full of erros: mainly becuase I have limited java (or any) programming expereince. I could not get cars to behave realistically using the road traffic library for a toll system simulation. I think it would have been better to use the process modelling library. Pros In the little contact I have had with AnyLogic it is already clear that it surpasses the other existing simulation software, mainly because of how complete it is being multi-method, being able to meet the multiple needs of a company. In my case specifically it would be to work with simulation for the project schedule and the gains that it can bring to large projects is impressive. Cons The interface with java is not so easy for those who do not understand so much about object-oriented programming, but clearly it is a branch where it is worth investing in knowledge. February 6, 2018 2.0 Pros It is really good at simulating road congestion. It is also useful if you want to do your modeling in a java environment. Cons It was difficult to use. It required a lot of customization to do manufacturing simulation in this software. Material handling and warehouse simulations were especially difficult. The libraries come very handy when developing supply chain simulations. Cons The graphs and visuals are very old. No complaints appart from weak error signalisaiton software. Pros I like the simplicity of being able to simulate traffic. It only took me a few hours to learn how to use the program. Cons The error messages are often not clear, as I did not know what was wrong most of the time.
