### "Good product but need more free resources to learn from"

December 13, 2022

5.0

Pros

Anylogic is an incredibly useful tool for modeling and simulation. It provides a comprehensive platform for creating and analyzing complex systems, allowing users to visualize and understand the dynamics of their models. With its intuitive graphical user interface, Anylogic makes it easy to create and edit models, and its powerful simulation engine allows users to run simulations quickly and accurately. It also provides a wide range of analysis tools, allowing users to gain valuable insights into their models and make informed decisions. All in all, Anylogic is a very useful tool for anyone looking to create and analyze complex systems.

Cons

however, there is a lack of resources available to learn how to use it. There are some tutorials and guides available, but they are limited and do not provide comprehensive coverage of the software. This can make it difficult for those who are new to Anylogic to get up and running quickly. Fortunately, there are a few online communities and forums that can provide assistance and guidance to those who are just starting out.

### "My review "

May 27, 2024

4.0

In general, I am satisfied, as anylogic meets all my needs and I have not yet had to use additional software. This is the main thing for me. I would also be happy if the lessons and training material were more interactive. A good example here is the Matlab tutorials on their official website. They are broken down by topic and first you are given the theory, and then you are given tasks to reinforce it

Pros

Simple interface, wide capabilities, and functionality.

Cons

Sometimes it's not entirely clear what exactly went wrong, and then you have to go back a few steps to figure it out. Hints don't always help. It also takes a lot of time to learn. I'm not very good at programming and sometimes it's hard to understand java.

I needed to create a broader equine model, not just a production warehouse model. It turned out that not many programs on the market offer interaction with GIS maps. AnyLogic was the perfect fit for me because of its combination of features

### "My experience with Anylogic."

November 26, 2018

5.0

Overall experience with Anylogic is very good. I use it to model business systems and processes to collecting statistic or optimization.

Pros

\- Integrate all types of simulation modelling in one tool. For example you can create multi-agent model, where agent's behaviour contains inner system dynamic model. At same every agent can act in dynamical changing world, where environment based on discrete event modelling. - You can easy add your own program code lines to handle any event, that happens during modelling. For example you can send message on screen or send message to interact with other agent during events, such as arrive to destination point, take place in queue, leave queue, start processing on a device. - You can create your own blocks and use them to build models like with standard block. - You can create beautiful animated 3D presentation of your model. - There are a lot of free tutorials, video lectures, examples, books that can help you start build complicated beautiful models. There is well done documentation with good tips and advises. - You can every time ask support any question you want and they answer you in short.

Cons

\- New versions of Anylogic comes very often, sometimes its annoying to reinstall it. You can skip one update, but there can be some problems. - I notice that when you update Anylogic, your old models can stop working in new version of Anylogic, you had to fix syntax errors in models code. At same time modes, that you create in new version of Anylogic probably will not open in old version of Anylogic. Looks like developers not care about backward comparability when preparing updates. It can be real problems if Anylogic version is different on your home PC and on your PC at work. I hope developers will take my opinion in consideration and provide backward compatibility for next updates.

### "Anylogic Simulation Software Review"

February 11, 2019

4.0

Overall it is a great piece of software, but you need knowledge of java and a good problem solving mind. It is incredibly powerful and flexible, but I would say can be beaten in specific applications where simulation software is built for just one or two purposes.

Pros

Anylogic has great Flexibility, runs on java and a huge amount of functionality. It can present models in 2D or 3D with a decent library of graphs and outputs by default. It is very suitable for many different applications, and if you want, can essentially model anything you can think of (if you program it yourself). I've mostly used it in manufacturing, and its been able to do everything I've wanted it to do in the end. It's not always as easy as other software, but that's a trade off between functionality and usability.

Cons

It can be tricky to start with certainly, and there are some elements that are much easier to do in other simulation software packages. That said, you can usually find a way of doing it in anylogic, although this takes longer and is trickier. It's not always easy to find the problem when something goes wrong. The software is essentially wrapped up Java, but this means it's not as easy to debug as a sheet of code. Code is fragmented between elements, which takes some getting used to. The UI is also very slow and unresponsive (even on powerful machines), there's a lot that could be improved here.

The possibility of combining the three main methods for modelling systems. The customer service, the way AnyLogic forces you to go trough various calls just to get a price for the license is horrendous. Just for that, I would be willing to recommend the software, please modofy your sales plan.

### "Anylogic Simulation Software Review "

November 12, 2020

5.0

Anylogic got introduced to me by my lecturer \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] (Industrial Engineering, University of Pretoria). I naturally saw it from the lens of an entrepreneur, which showed great potential. So I decided to learn the software well enough to start a freelance simulation modeling gig. I however ran into a wall with the licensing as Anylogic is, at the moment, too expensive for me. Aside from that Anylogic is a software I would recommend to anyone wishing to get into simulation modeling either professionally or as a hobby. I am still in talks with Anylogics South Africa partener Blue Stallion Technologies for a possible patnership.

Pros

The software is easy to learn, especially for someone with an engineering or statistics background. This is so because of a large amount of learning materials made available for free by the Anylogic team, such as the Anylogic in 3 days pdf copies and youtube video clips. The software is also easy to use in solving real-world complex problems. I to some extent feel Anylogic is too simple for how powerful it is, but I guess that is one of the things that justify its cost. Anylogic functions seamlessly with other programs such as excel and maps. A big plus. Besides that the process of learning to use the software introduces the user to Java in a controlled unintimidating setting, hence adding one more skill for those who are excited by such.

Cons

I like everything in the software except the pricing. But thats more of a "me problem"...

### "Most cost effective simulation software with great trial version"

November 30, 2021

5.0

The anylogic software helped me to simulate the process of concrete transfer from batching plant to the pouring point and provided me with great insights related to productivity, output and efficiency of the whole process.

Pros

The visual representation and layout of the software are clear, easy and intuitive to understand. The personal learning edition is a great offering for students and other learners who want to learn and try the software prior to purchase. The learning curve of the software is slightly high and official resources like learn simulation in three days, the big book of simulation and youtube videos are sufficient for anyone to master this software.

Cons

The software is a bit difficult to learn for newcomers to simulation. But the presence of ample helping material solves the problem.

### "Anylogic Anytime! "

February 17, 2019

5.0

Pros

I have been using Anylogic for the past 6 months now everyday and I can say that once you open it up, it is such a great and useful program. Working in the engineering / simulation department, being able to use Anylogic makes work so much easier and dare I even say it, "fun". It can be used for such a variety of things and so many different ways to program it to make it useful in many multi-functional capacities. Once the basic learning curve is established, it is a breeze to use and there are so many layers to it that it makes simulation great! Very clean layout, always new updates and bug fixes. I recommend to all!

Cons

The cost can be a varying weight factor in the decision to use anylogic versus other softwares but given the multitude of functionalities, it really is a no brainer. There have been a few bugs in the latest update, but the customer service has been great to help me through these issues.

Can’t complain. Very glad I have exposure to it.

Pros

Within my research we will be making use of Agent-based modelling and System Dynamics. The fact that we can do both within AnyLogic is a massive bonus. I also like the fact that there are som many resources available to learn and develop my modelling skills on the online platform.

Cons

The graphics of the application can be a bit more visually pleasing. This is such a small thing to comment about, but yes, I think there is some room for improvement when it comes to the look of AnyLogic.

### "Using Experience of Agent-based Modelling for Fire Evacuation"

April 29, 2024

5.0

I am happy with the modelling experience with AnyLogic, as it is friendly and easy for beginners to start playing with their own models. However, some of the specific setting related problems are not included in the manual or websites, which are not easy to fix.

Pros

I can directly download the online case of fire evacaution model and make some personal modifications. It really helps me to learn some basic functions, which are necessary for the beginners to start with. Besides, as the case supplies a feasible application which is close to my own case application with multiple scenarios, I can extract some of the key functions and apply to my own model without learning from the beginning. This is very helpful to save time for the beginners and I can quickly have a play with my own model but with some personalized settings.

Cons

The differenct version are not compatible. For example, if I build a model based on version 8.3, I cannot replicate on version 8.7, which really causes difficulties and time to modify the model from the old version to be feasible in the new version. Besides, some of the errors cannot be easily fixed as there are not enough supports for self-learning version. Though it does have some forums, but some problems are too specific to have exact answers. I would like to have some more in-face conversation for problem-fixing.

### "Powerful Simulation Software"

August 2, 2019

5.0

Pros

AnyLogic is a simulation software that allows the user to combine multiple simulation methods inside one simulation. This is incredibly powerful and results in simulations that are complex, but accurately reflect reality. Their team regularly releases new features and listens to its user base to increase functionality where it is most useful.

Cons

The material handling library still needs to be more extensive than it currently is.

### "Versatile and Effective Modelling Tool"

March 16, 2019

5.0

Pros

HSSMI has used AnyLogic to build proof of concept models for multiple automotive sector companies (including JLR, Ford and Bentley). We have used the extant libraries extensively, as well as developing custom blocks and libraries for specific manufacturing cells such as gantry cranes. Anylogic has been easy to use and the outputs have been exceptional both in terms of statistical accuracy and visualisation. We have also been used OptQuest within our exported simulations and bench marked the optimisation speed against other standard simulation tools - Anylogic has prevailed every time! We couldn't be happier with the tools features and also AnyLogic's support, I would like to specifically mention the new materials handling library and AnyLogic cloud, which have helped us to deliver our models more effectively with 'out of the box' 3D visualisations of production systems and faster optimisations respectively. Thank you AnyLogic for really innovating and building a simulation and predictive analytics tool that is at the bleeding edge of technology.

Cons

There is underlying Java learning curve that is required for modellers to build custom blocks and libraries. However, anyone with objective orientated programming background should be able to pick this up with ease. Even myself coming from a functional programming background was able to learn how to use the tool relatively quickly.

### "Need full flexibility and scalability: go AnyLogic"

June 28, 2016

5.0

AnyLogic is an amazing piece of software but it comes like an iceberg: 90% is hidden under water. Getting started is easy but then the learning curve gets quite steep. It massively helps to know OOP because it sits on an Eclipse Java shell. However, this allows you to do \*anything\*. Need to add this specific behavior? No problem. Want to use this Java package? Go for it. I have been using it for 8+ years now in a huge variety of projects, from implementing massive simulations into Fortune500 companies to producing small on-the-fly models during meetings. Once you get the hang, it is a lot of fun to have this power under your fingers. AnyLogic really is the only software out there that can combine agents, discrete-event processes and system dynamics, a feature that is massively underestimated yet. However, with the rise of Analytics and Big Data, it becomes ever more important to model close to reality.

Pros

Once you understand the core basics (OOP, Java, experimentation...), an immense bag of features and possibilities opens up. The support subscription is quite good value for money as well.

Cons

The online community lives on a LinkedIn forum, this should move to a dedicated place or StackOverflow.

### "The only one of its kind"

January 31, 2012

4.0

The best in its class of multi-method tools and as good as any other tool when compared on a single feature basis. The customer support is amazing.

Pros

AnyLogic is the only tool supporting all the different simulation techniques and even allowing you to combine them into hybrid models. The ability to expand the drag-drop modeling environment at any time with Java code is really cool. And the ability to export the model as a java applet that will play in any browser is also very cool -- now you can deliver your models to users who don't have sim software installed and would NEVER have it installed -- but they can still run the experiments you design. Customer support like you've never imagined! "Hey, my model doesn't work very well" is an acceptable request! They'll work on it, make it better, do things you never thought of, and send it back. All for free and as many times as you like!"

Cons

The feature set is amazing -- in fact, so rich to be a little daunting. This makes the learning curve longer than most tools, not really steeper, aka harder, its just that there's a lot to learn. The documentation is a little dense and the grammar is stiff and formal. I wish there were a simpler, "how to build models the easy way" book as opposed to all this formality.
