I create models solving problems in healthcare, primarily focused on healthcare policy questions. Pros Many features, scalable, many libraries, and great learning resources and online community. AnyLogic can simulate projects across many industries, and those with advanced programming skills will find this software very adaptable to a variety of problems. Even those of us with intermediate coding skills can tackle challenging problems with credible results. The company is very responsive to questions, and allows their software to be used in research and publication - important for graduate students. The system requirements are not onerous, at least for most models you can build with PLE. Cons A user will need to invest time into learning this software - and you will need to learn some Java. Fortunately, there are many online resources freely available. I highly recommend this software because some of its features are unique and also because the development is going really fast adding new features and industry 4.0 libraries. Pros The GUI is pleasant and easy-to-use. The fact that it permits multi-method modelling represents one of the biggest key features of this software. The graphic representations of the model is also another strenght considering that most of the stuff presented in the model are associable with a graphic 2D/3D representation. Cons Some features are really difficult to implement. The output analysis of multi-replications run is not executed automatically, and I consider this one of the basics for a simulation software. The most important ability of the software is that this is a multi-method software which is very applicable for social science studies, since these studies face almost complicated systems as well as some problems and limitations with data and the combination of SD and ABM would be a very useful tool. Another important point is related the available tools in the software which increase the ability of modelers to consider more details in their models. Last but not least important point concerns the example models which are great guides. April 5, 2018 5.0 Good tools for the work of my master and PhD students. Pros The easiness to use and build different types of simulation models including System Dynamics! The sofware is user-friendly and there are several examples off the shelf to do many of the simulation model that we are interested in developing. The fact that we have several methods in the same tool allows for a good communication between those methods leading to even hybrid models. Cons The price of the professional version is a bit high at least from a university point of view. It would be nice to have all those capabilities also for research projects. Being a student, I cant afford to get professional version as it is too expensive. I would like that the price be a little lower. I would want the help directory of Anylogic to get better - specially with the various functions. Pros I can create so many different sorts of models. You get learning edition for free with alot of features. Cons It has nothing on internet for problems that we might face. There are many restrictions on it. It is straightforward to use only if you have knowledge about the meaning of the different features available for every type of simulation.
