The support is stellar. The product is versatile and so powerful. I got rid of a duplicate software because DonorSnap was an overall better product that did more. Pros DonorSnap is very powerful and flexible software. You can search for almost anything in most fields. You can set up any custom query you can think of. It does so many things well, and they are always adding features and improving things. Additionally, it is very well supported. If you don't know how to do something: 1) there's a contextual help link right to the help database OR 2) you can check out the recorded webinars for how to do a thing OR 3) there are responsive and supportive helpdesk staff who respond to questions very quickly. Cons I think that the webforms would benefit from conditional logic, as sometimes we have to make several webforms instead of just one. There are also several places where information needs to be changed when you change certain things. That can be frustrating and confusing, but it is part of making it the most powerful and customizable it can be. There is so much to learn that you feel you will never know it all, but there is plenty of help when you run into this! It's wonderful to be able to create and customize (and save) reports you use on a monthly basis. It's easy to pull a mailing list, renewal list with email, etc. Pros The interface is so easily customizable, you don't have records cluttered with fields you don't need or use. The online trainings (most accessible 24/7) are wonderful, and the resources and guides are very helpful. Best of all - the DonorSnap support team is VERY FAST and responsive - I can't tell you how much that means to a time-strapped staff person. If I get stuck, it's often resolved the same day. Cons Writing a query for a report is sometimes frustrating, as is navigating to the correct place to change or add a field. It is most likely because my time is limited and I tend to push ahead instead of stopping and searching properly in the "help" function. The software continues to improve and offer new features while providing a significant library of resources for all functions. We are looking forward to expanding our use of DonorSnap for member communications and for volunteer management. Pros Although not specifically designed for tracking memberships in our non-profit organization, DonorSnap is easily customizable to accommodate this function. It is straightforward to use and the user-defined fields provide all the fields needed to manage and track our membership donations. DonorSnap allows us to easily send renewal notices and reminders to more than 450 members, with custom cover letters. Reports are easy to run and customize, including producing mailing labels for our newsletter. Having the ability to set up a personalized dashboard and select specific fields for the various screens is important and easy to do. Probably one of the best features is the support that is provided. The online resources available, including webinars and detailed step-by-step instruction guides, are excellent. There are always new training webinars being offered on DonorSnap features. The support from customer service is also excellent with quick responses and follow-up if needed. Conversion and support team were very helpful and prompt in responding to issues. Pros Very inexpensive but can do all the basic functionalities for advancement day to day operations. Batch entry is so easy once you understand how it works. Query, reporting and exporting custom reports is very user friendly. As with all other systems, a software is only capable to it’s fullest potential if you understand how the various modules within the system work together. Training and support is crucial and their customer support is hands-on one of the best.! Cons The standard reports work for the most part but I wish it gives us much more flexibility. It also limits selection of fields based on active fields/codes which means that you’ll have to basically leave all codes - old and new - for the report to work accurately. This means for example that if you inactivate a Campaign code from 2 or 3 years ago, you are not able to run revenue from those codes unless you reactivate them. This is a nightmare for admins from a table code management point. The design of the standard reports need to be improved as well to look presentable especially when executives ask for last minute reporting and you know how often that happens. Although it's tricky to use the more complex options the email customer support is very responsive. It would be better if you have phone customer support. Pros I love the ease of using the software, accessing records in the database, and creating reports. We use DonorSnap to send membership drives, annual appeals, and everything works seamlessly. Cons When I go into "Donation History" the default is to only list the last ten donations. I wish it would just list all of them so I have the full picture. Every time I log in I need to remember to update that to "show 100." Otherwise I'm writing notes thanking people for their decade of history, when I should be thanking them for over twenty years. December 19, 2017 5.0 Pros This database does everything we need it to and more. We're a smaller non-profit with 1500 donors. The database makes searching for information and pulling reports simple while providing all the details we need. The BEST part of DonorSnap is their incredible customer support team. They've never taken more than a few minutes to respond to email questions with clear and concise answers. They answer in a way that not only gives you what you need, but teaches you how to find it next time. This team is really on top of their game. Our organization also just launched the new partnership DonorSnap has with goEmerchant for our online giving and feedback from our donors has been very positive. Nice to have it all in one system. Cons This software is not flashy or polished. Then again it doesn't have a premium price tag. Once you learn the software though you'll find it has everything most people need to successfully manage an organizations donors/volunteers/etc. I think there are a few functions that would be great to add, but honestly, when I've asked the support team - 2/3 of the time they are already working on that next new feature! For example - one area that is lacking is regional donor search features. We have donors all across the country and when I go visit a certain area it would be great to search for all donors within 50 miles of a certain zip code for example. The price is reasonable for a small organization. Pros We needed a database for member management. Previously we had used an Excel spreadsheet, then moved to SalesForce, but that was overkill for our purpose. The features in DonorSnap along with the monthly price was reasonable for our uses. The online help as well as the support are very helpful. Cons Having to integrate with only GoEmerchant is limiting. Everything works, but it would be nice to allow other payment processors. We don't have the ability to swipe credit cards for payments at an event. We had spreadsheets prior to installing DonorSnap. There has been somewhat of a learning curve, but once you master what you want to get out of the system, it works. Pros In my opinion, DonorSnap is a robust product that provides excellent functionality. For our small organization it meets all our needs. This system will do much more than I'm capable or implementing or have the time to build and implement. There's more engine under the hood than most people will ever really need. But that to me is the beauty of it. It's there if you want or need it. It's solid. It works. Support is Excellent. Very responsive. They know the system. I'm very impressed with their support. They also have a wide range of training videos and live webinars to help you. Cons Comparing DonorSnap to other similar products, it is not flashy. If you're looking for flash, DonorSnap may not be what you want. If you like lots of colorful graphs, DonorSnap probably isn't for you. If you want a product that, at least for us, provides a broad array of options to track donor information and you don't care about a fancy front end, then DonorSnap may be what you're looking for. It was also pretty easy to run reports, for my board. Cons Data Miner Platinum. I think one should be able to find the same data from the Contacts screen, so you can see results immediately for what you're asking for, not have to input all the parameters, and just hope that the output is what you're looking for. Things that should be fairly simple, like printing mailing labels, is also overly complicated. We can quickly and easily generate reports of all types - no limits on customizable reports. I can allow donors and alumni to update their own contact info. I can easily mass enter gifts and do mass uploads as well. It is a great system. Pros I have worked with bigger and much more expensive databases at past jobs, and I always ran into problems that were unsolvable within the system - reports I needed that it couldn't generate, no ability to mass upload things, or something along those lines. Donorsnap has thought of EVERYTHING. And for such a minimal monthly price. I was recently at a fundraising professionals meeting, and someone in the forum asked what databases everyone used. A few people sheepishly said what they used, but both added "although I wouldn't recommend it. It's a pain." I was the only person in the room who proudly said "Well, I am using Donorsnap, which is really affordable and can do everything I need. I would highly recommend it to anyone." And a bunch of people jotted it down. Its hard to be happy with your donor database, but for the first time, I am. Their customer service is also great, and responds quickly to any questions. They have tons of video tutorials for every page, so you can learn how to do things when you need to handle a new process you haven't done before. Cons Like all software, there is a learning curve. You have to figure out how to do the things you want to do - reports, imports, eforms, etc. One time, I had to import hundreds of gifts made on another platform, and get them to match up to the right donor records already in our database. It was quite the conversation with customer service as I learned how to do this, and it wasn't something I hope to have to do often. But it was possible to do it, without manually entering each gift! This is especially important because all the work I do for my organization is voluntary. Pros I organize donor files for a small, entirely volunteer-run land trust. Prior to DonorSnap, our "database" was a horribly designed excel file that made organizing and tracking data and determining metrics an absolute nightmare. It was also incredibly frustrating to try to use that file to create mail-merge documents for mailings. As a result, we also kept paper trails of donations way longer than necessary because the filing system was so poor. Using DonorSnap, I was able to discard literally thousands of unnecessary documents we had been keeping for years, and I was able to keep donor histories in one place where it had previously been kept in more than one file. I can also pull up metrics within seconds, where previously it was more time-consuming and inaccurate. The DonorSnap system also makes staying in touch w/ our donors via mail-merge and emails substantially easier, and the acknowledgement tracking is irreplaceable. I can't believe we ever managed files another way. Cons Because there are SO many features, sometimes it takes me longer than I would prefer to get some things accomplished in the system. But, the help features are very extensive and I can almost always figure it out by watching the videos or reading the step-by-step guides. I would say my biggest annoyance is the label feature - I hate that the only option is to make a PDF of the labels, because it means I always waste almost entire sheets of labels because they are often not filled. I would much prefer an option to create a word file of labels (similar to all the other documents you can create in DonorSnap), so that I may copy and paste info around the template in order to print on partial label sheets I have lying around. Pros We like the flexibility and complexity of DonorSnap which enables us to customize our donor's information, keep track of volunteer hours and the reporting/analytics are so helpful. Our donors are able to easily make donations and complete forms through what we set up in DonorSnap. We also love the customer service DonorSnap offers. They are quick to respond, helpful and very knowledgeable. Cons It would be great to have a bit more customization and feature availability for the email system to send email campaigns without having to use a separate email platform for those features. Everything was a cost to edit when I knew I could execute the edit if administration access were provided. Also, the customer support simply wasn't available. It had taken over a month for someone to reply with a solution with our previous DB. DS helps our productivity and allows us to become intimate with the system, changing how and when we need. Pros Many features are impactful for our organization and help us advance our productivity. The mass upload feature is time saving, the ability to create and edit thank you letters is convenient, the multitude of canned reports at an executive level or being able to customize and create one with more granular detail is a key function we specifically sought out in our research of databases. The dashboard view helps us see the details in a summary of the data in our database - very useful! Customer support is top notch, truly. As a new user, I had any questions. Each ticket I opened was answered promptly, within 30-60 minutes and always resolved my user error. Training in detailed easy to access files and pre-recorded videos are free and available with a simple key word search. Lastly, the implementation/conversion was seamless. I did put some work into organizing and labeling/customizing, but the DB couldn't be more intuitive. We are ecstatic about DonorSnap and have zero regrets transitioning with them. Cons The tickler function could use more fields to allow for more detail, bit I'm grabbing for straws trying to find something that could use improvement. I receive all of the support I need, almost always within 24 hours or even faster. Overall, this database functions the way I want it to and is completely customizable. Pros DonorSnap offers a unique and comprehensive approach to a donor database which allows the user to glean data from the database themselves or using tools they have provided. I like how they give the user options and not constraints. Moving our data from another platform was easy and secure as DonorSnap worked with us individually and provided top-notch technical support. As we have used this product for over 5 years, their customer support continues to be un-paralleled. If I contact them with an idea, they are quick to try to make it happen for us. Cons I love having the ability to download the data and use excel for my own analysis. DonorSnap allows me to do this and in addition to this, DonorSnap also provides reporting, sorting, and great tools for analysis. Before this, I used software which didn't allow these options. There is great support when needed. the webinars are all very helpful and the information available is terrific. It is a very user friendly program. Pros The program was very easy to learn. Must easier to use and learn from previous program. The information available is valuable without a whole lot of difficulty getting to a report. Cons The only thing I can say that I like least is that thank you letters are entered are entered by the administrator and I as a user can not modify them. She has to make the changes in the template. I did not know anything about databases when I started. Donorsnap was relatively easy to learn and I was able to effectively use it after only a couple of weeks on the job. I have had many questions since I started using Donorsnap and the help team has been super responsive and helpful in answering my questions and solving my dilemmas. The help videos are also very good and give clear instructions on how to use Donorsnap features. Pros The Dataminer Platinum report maker is essential to our organization. We have made multiple reports that we use weekly to keep track of our donations and pledges. It is easy to add fields and search criteria to the reports so we can get the data we need, as it change frequently. Cons I have been using Automatic Task Manager to send membership renewal reminders. It took me some time to learn how to use it, but now I have the reminders working well. I would like to be able to pull fields from places other than the Contact Table. We are a very small foundation, with small income, and it does more that we could ask for. The product continues to be updated. We signed up when the other system we used went out of business. This is so much better than what we had, and customer support is very good. I would recommend it to others. Pros It is very easy to enter donations, and pull monthly or yearly reports. If you make a mistake, it is very user friendly to edit. I have always gotten responses to my questions if I run into a situation that I don't know how to handle, and the training videos are very helpful in teaching new features (and older features that I had not needed before). Cons I find that pulling mailing lists with certain restrictions can be a bit confusing. I wish there was an easier method for eliminating criteria and including others. I have watched the training, but I still get confused, and not sure I am getting exactly what I need.
