February 1, 2023 5.0 I feel like DonorSnap is a real partner in helping to administer our organization. We are a small organization, but resourceful and committed, and DonorSnap's personal, smart, few-frills approach is a good fit. Pros I still find it kind of thrilling how the program can generate all kinds of reports. It is easy to customize how information is collected and organized - and individual users can adapt their own screens to their needs. The training webinars (live and recorded), help pages, and individual customer support are very helpful. There have been improvements since I have been using the program that really simplify work , like Mass Entry and Duplicate Entry (to record, for instance, monthly donors). Cons While the mass email campaign has been very useful, it can be awkward to design a message, especially one with images. It is also feels laborious to go through all the steps to send email acknowledgements in cases where I only have one or two at a time. It might be more efficient to change to using e-merchant for donations, as DonorSnap recommends,but in researching it, I found that it would be much more expensive for the amount we take in. Pros Since I started using Donor Snap over three years ago, I have been impressed with their customer service. Hands down, it's been great! From their live webinars, to my email questions, library of resources and training videos, the Donor Snap support team has always been there to help in a timely and accurate manner. We have been using the software for about 2 years now. It has all the functions we need, easy to use and cost about 1/3 of the price of our previous software. Pros What I absolutely love the most about DonorSnap is its ease to use. From entering donations to writing thank you letters and running reports, DonorSnap is simple to understand, simple to use and even simple to train new employees. Cons The one part I do not love about this software is the default for reporting to be by calendar year. November 12, 2021 4.0 My overall experience with DonorSnap has been great! I've been using it close to year now. It was very easy to learn the basics and I was starting to learn how to use it the first day I started my position and felt very comfortable with it by the end of the week. It is extremely important to my job and something I use every single day. Pros I love how easy it is to enter donations and keep track of donors. I also love that I'm able to do my thank you letters from this database as well! Cons I wish there was a way to print out reports specific to one person. For example, if I wanted to print out a report for one person and how many in-kind donations they made in the last year, there is no way to do that. September 2, 2022 5.0 Donorsnap has been a great product overall. We didn't have a budget for a donor management system but we had far outgrown our excel spreadsheet.... Donorsnap has given us the ability to professionally track our donors and volunteers, and take a more strategic approach to our fundraising. Pros I can't say enough about the support for this product. There are videos on every single area of the donorsnap software if you have a question that walks you through the product. If you still have a question, you can email support and they will respond as quickly as possible with a solution for your specific need. July 3, 2018 5.0 Pros We are a small non-profit that used to have a big donor software system. It was cumbersome--training new people always took some time. Reporting was confusing--we were never was sure that we were getting what we asked for. Support was adequate. The worst part is that the company seemed more concerned with selling add ons and upgrades than making sure we had what we needed. Moving to DonorSnap was such a relief! It is a lot more intuitive and easier to use. It has all the functionality we need and some to grow into. The support is very responsive but most of the time I can find what I need in the webinars and online videos that are available. I love the on-line responsive forms that keep donors on our website and the reporting that doesn't require me to write code. We are starting to take advantage of the prospecting aspects--tracking our donor contacts and using ticklers to make sure we follow-up in a timely manner. The mobile app is great for our Board members to have accessibility when they go out on donor visits. They can enter notes on their visit right on their phones! The Staff is wonderful--they want you to be successful. They have all come from the non-profit world so they understand your needs. The fact that it has all the functionality it does at such an affordable price is amazing. I have been recommending DonorSnap to the other Ed Foundations in our area. Cons Ironically, the one thing that took me some time to adjust to was its flexibility. I was so used to having to work within the constraints of a system. I went from, "It doesn't work that way" to "Sure, you can do that!" I really appreciate all of the things I can do to customize DonorSnap to fit my needs. . . define user profiles individually, add and customize fields, rearrange my dashboard to view what I want to view. . . it has all been great. President Sports Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Lots of functionality for a reasonable price" February 1, 2023 4.0 We did not have a donor management system prior to DonorSnap and our information was scattered across multiple systems, mainly in a PayPal transaction log. We had no idea who donated, no way to track multiple donations from the same person, no easy way to contact past and potential donors, no reliable method for sending acknowledgements, etc. DonorSnap was easy to set up and now I can find out anything I want to know about our donations. We are in regular communication with our donors and use different forms to easily track donations from different campaigns and for different purposes. We are well on our way to increasing our annual donations, and we are doing it better with less manual effort. Pros Lots of functionality and flexibility, we use DonorSnap throughout our organization. Also appreciated low price, a way to get the features we needed without spending more money than makes sense for a relatively small organization. The Responsive Online Form was a must-have for us, an easy way to accept donations online and track them. Cons The UI is a little dated. It does take a little training to get up to speed and tech-adverse folks tend to struggle. Managing images for mass email campaigns could be easier - recent additions a help but still slow to work with. " November 16, 2021 5.0 Every time I think "wow, I wish my database could do THAT", lo & behold, DonorSnap is capable. The customer service is just so good and worth every penny. It is an incredible value for what we receive. And it is so easy to learn and utilize. Overall, I'd give it a 10/10! Pros DonorSnap out-of-the-box is very user-friendly but also customizable. It is intuitive and in an industry with a lot of turnover, it is so important that new hires and executives can easily use our database with ease. The best part about DonorSnap is the AMAZING customer service. Whenever I have a question, even something small, they respond so quickly, oftentimes with short videos to walk me through what I am trying to do. The individualized service for every client is what sets DonorSnap apart from the rest. Cons The receipting can be a little clunky- especially year-end. This is a donor management tool; if you are looking for a donor communication tool be aware there are no design templates for mass email campaigns. Still, it's great and will make your accounting on the back end a breeze. Pros DonorSnap is a fantastic tool to keep track of donors gifts and integrate with your accounting firm. Donations are coded with accounting codes and accurate records/reporting is a breeze. Reports can be challenging to build, however, support is really fantastic. I have never felt stranded in running in a report... help desk is always open during regular business hours and that is super important to a small nonprofit. Cons Yes! Mass email campaigns is wonky. It would be great if there were some templates that were designed for use. I know you can also subscribe to constant contacts for their design templates but that is another cost. Everything is in one easy to use database, which saves many hours of work every week. No regrets about purchasing the exceptional product! Pros The ability to process a donation in a couple of minutes was a huge help. Importing donor/member information from our online merchant with ease (everything doesn't have to be manually entered). Generating various reports. Tracking membership, donations, mass email & the ability to see the mass email results. Cons Nothing so far. Executive Director Used the software for: ### "New to DonorSnap and feeling great!" September 30, 2011 4.0 PLC gives DonorSnap an A+ - We love it! It is the perfect solution for a smaller land trust. Being online means my data is accessible when I am out on the road or working from home or a volunteer's office. I can update donor records quickly, from anywhere, and the program is so intuitive my staff and volunteers have picked it up very quickly with little anxiety. The support available via the page help and video help is extensive, in fact we haven't had to call DonorSnap yet, although during the conversion it was clear that the staff is friendly, accessible and efficient - so I wouldn't hesitate. After a very disappointing and frustrating experience with our previous software I am both relieved and pleased with all that DonorSnap brings to the table. Bravo! Pros Smoothest conversion ever! I couldn't believe how seamless it was. And because I can define fields easily on the fly we didn't have to do a great deal of pre-work, as soon as we see a need I can simply create the field needed. DonorSnap is SO easy to use, very intuitive. With minimal training we are recording gifts, pulling mailing lists, tracking interactions and contacts, and syncing with Constant Contact. As a small regional land trust I love that my donor database is online. My board and committee members can enter data into member records themselves rather than sending me emails that I then enter. Their access is limited to what is appropriate for their role, but they can now look up contact information or document conversations - an efficiency that is so valuable when you have limited staff. I have found the reports to be easy to use, and have even created a few new ones - far easier than in ebase. Cons We migrated to DonorSnap over the summer from Ebase, and ran into trouble with the name override feature. DonorSnap is creating labels with two names "John Doe and Jane Doe" rather than John and Jane Doe. Perhaps there is an easy fix? I haven't asked yet. Beyond that, we are still learning to use Dataminer, but I find the page help feature a great guide. There were only one or two hiccups with the conversion, not in the migration, but because ebase and DonorSnap have different ways of tracking data (payment type, for example). Dennis suggested an easy work around, and within a year the problem will have dissolved on its own. Don't have any real cons yet...I'll keep looking! Review Source PM Pat M. Pros Like any other software, it takes a few uses to really know your way around. However, once you do, it's extremely easy to add custom fields, create online donation and event forms that can be inserted into a webpage, and to run customized reports. There are also integrations with Quickbooks and a texting software, making this a very dynamic product. In addition, customer service via email is extremely responsive and helpful. At first I thought that email customer service would be an issue, but it hasn't been. Extremely impressed with response times. Cons Tracking things like volunteer hours seem challenging. We may not be using it correctly, but there's not an easy way to log volunteer hours to someone in your database. We also thought we would really utilize the Persona fields, but there is limited ability to include these in reports with other data streams. Review Source WS Wil S. Cons For an all-volunteer organization with most volunteers not being computer/software literate, it has been challenging at times. However, this has largely been overcome by DonorSnap's responsive technical assistance team. However, weighing what is most important to the board (access and use by multiple people) Donor Snap fits the bill. The more one learns to work-around the bumps encountered, the easier it gets. Pros Cost was a factor in choosing DS. Donor Snap gets easier once a user gets familiar with what the software can/can't do. Part of the choice was that it was web-based and can be used by multiple users who use different operating systems. The help videos are, um, helpful. Cons I hate that the lists of fields are not in any logical order. Fields are very difficult to find and searching for the field I want wastes time. I also don't appreciate that the program relies heavily on the use of Excel and Word exports. After looking at what other database programs charge, there is no doubt that we are getting a great service for money spent. Pros The ability to create a wide variety of different reports, the ability to track donations to more than one account, and the ability to integrate the database with online giving that sends an email whenever a donation is received. Cons Knowing how to create the exact report you need can be complicated at times. If you don't know a certain report exists, it can be time consuming and confusing to create one yourself. It made our process for tracking and acknowledging these aspects of our work much more organized and efficient. Pros This is an excellent program. It's great for a non-profit to track contacts and all donations and volunteer hours and form a list from which many types of reports can be pulled. Excellent for mailings and generating acknowledgement letters that would have otherwise had to be hand-written. Great for campaigns. Wonderful help index on every page with detailed instructions and help-videos. Excellent customer support with frequent training webinars. Cons It would be nice to be able to generate an email list right from the program without having to go through a third party like Constant Contact. It's really a system that is well suited for our NPO. Pros Since I enter many things en masse, the Mass Entry feature is high on my list for efficient and speedy data-entry of Volunteer hours, In-kind donations, and general donations. The Mass Entry form was seamless to build and other users find it helpful when entering interactions and donations. Cons The area that gives me some challenge is the form builder. Before utilizing DonorSnap we had many places things were kept. We had numerous methods for tracking the same data and it was difficult to get thank you letters to donors and fundraising addresses updated and tracked. We needed what DonorSnap has to offer. We are still learning of new ways to utilize the tools it has and with its collaborative relationships for a credit card processor (goEmerchant), with Constant Contact, and Intuit, then the ability to create forms to integrate with your website. We are now re-developing our website and working to fully utilize the abilities of DS in our non-profit. Pros I love that I have the ability to customize the screens and that I can build forms to meet our needs. Cons The needs of a non-profit with donations and memberships are complex and had been managed poorly before this software was in use. The learning curve is long and complex and it is because the functions are complex as is needed with the type of needs we have.
