Customer support has also been responsive and helpful whenever I’ve needed assistance. While I’d like to see a more comprehensive audit log for tracking changes to expenses, the platform has been reliable and has made expense management much more efficient. Pros I’ve had a good experience with Expensify. It’s very easy to use, with a simple and intuitive interface that makes submitting and managing expenses quick and hassle-free. The receipt upload feature is excellent. Just snap a photo, and it captures the details accurately, saving a lot of time. I also like the mileage calculation feature, which uses maps to calculate travel distances accurately, making it easy to claim mileage expenses without any manual calculations. Customer support has also been responsive and helpful whenever I’ve needed assistance. Dedicated support makes it easy to communicate and have that customer-client relationship. Cons One area where Expensify could improve is its audit trail. It doesn’t provide a comprehensive audit log of user changes to an expense, making it difficult to track who modified what and when. I also love the visual design of the platform. It's clean, modern, and uses a great color palette, which actually makes a tedious chore like expense reporting much more pleasant. That said, it is ideal for small to medium upfront costs (meals, books, tickets), but less suited for very large expenses like flights, where out-of-pocket payment isn't ideal. Pros The automated receipt scanning is incredibly efficient; it reads data accurately and saves a lot of time. I also love how easy it is to upload payment information on the go and keep all expense categories organized in real-time, which significantly reduces administrative work. Cons It lacks an option to save "favorite" or frequent categories and merchants. And I have monthly call with accountant, Expensify is the essential tool to manage expense data and show it to my accountant in a timely manner and with accuracy Pros The ease of use, I had frequent trip to Korea, China, and Taiwan few years back. Currency conversion from local currency to Japanese Yen is automatic in Expensify, It saved tons of time for small company owner. Cons Localization ~ Japanese In Japan, company tax id is in every receipts and need to enter that to record. unfortunately, Expensify does not have capability to detect it and save that to record. It has completely eliminated the old, messy spreadsheet system we used to rely on. It provides great visibility for management to track team spending, reduces the friction of employee reimbursements, and ensures compliance without forcing anyone to chase down physical paper receipts. It's a reliable, highly automated tool that does exactly what it promises Pros The SmartScan feature is an absolute game-changer. Being able to just snap a photo of a receipt and have the app automatically extract the merchant, date, and amount with high accuracy saves an incredible amount of manual data entry. The automated workflows and seamless integration with our accounting software make the entire approval and reimbursement process fast and completely painless Cons The user interface, while highly functional, can occasionally feel a little cluttered when managing complex, multi-layered expense policies. Makes you split expenses into 2 or more reports depending on the trip. It is a hassle to split and not take into considerations ALL the expenses in 1 report. Usually airfare come first, and expenses related to the trip come in other reports. Not common sense. Pros It facilitates the management of expenses from a Finance department point of view. Somehow helps track expenses. Cons It is not very friendly and coherent from a user point of view. It is not helpful when travelling month end and overlapping with the next month. the business trip has not ended and it already asks to fill a report when expenses for the trip are still happening.
