Overall, I'm satisfied. Expensify greatly reduced the time required to process and review staff expenses, both those charged on their own credit cards and corporate credit cards.

Pros

Easy to set-up and use. Requires minimal user (employee) training. Integrates well with our accounting platform, Xero. Love the corporate card integration function, which allows administrators to track pending translocation and overall management of the credit card account. Cost is fair.

Cons

Can improve on reporting/analytical capabilities of transactions processed via Expensify. Customer service is almost non-existent, have to rely primarily on community forums to troubleshoot.

It was a great experience! Meanwhile I moved to a startup, that doesn't use Expensify and every time I need to fill in the excel form with my expenses I miss Expensify. I really recommend it!

Pros

Expensify is really easy to use and VERY convenient. My favorite feature is that as soon as you get the expense receipt you can take a picture of it and the app reads all the necessary information (value, issuing company, date, etc.), then you just need to add some minor details like the category, or the people associated with that expense (if more people than yourself).

Cons

There's nothing I'd point really bad. What I could point as an improvement is the time it takes to "read" the picture of the receipt, but most of the times it's not an issue, you just take the picture and close the app, it'll be completing the job on the background.

In my opinion I have not seen any other expense management software as complete as this one.

Pros

Ability to keep track of mileage /expenses and to automatically generate and submit reports. The solution can be used directly on your cell phone or through its web site. Allows to log receipts by taking pictures of them.

Cons

The option to scan receipts by taking a picture of them is slow and takes too much time to upload and process. The results are not always accurate.

We are saving time on expenses and we are able to spend more time serving customers. it makes perfect sense!

Pros

I love that Expensify enables the picture taking to create the expense and interpret what that picture says. That is software saving me time versus having to manually enter things like many expense reimbursement apps.

Cons

I believe you should be able to edit expenses even if it is not on a report. Editing should be available no matter what the context.

All around pretty mediocre. The interface looks good but the actual functionality is quite lacking.

Pros

No integration with things like email so users have plenty of work to do to get receipts synced up with expenses. Also weird interface that requires some training to use.

Cons

Lack of integration with receipts / concierge idea and actual expense reports. Also SENSITIVE CONTENT sends unsolicited yet highly political email blasts to entire email list and then basically refuses to apologize for inappropriateness when confronted. There are tons of expense report tools - find one that doesn't tell you how to vote.

Likely good for masses of expenses, if you're just a little guy - might not be worth the time.

Pros

It is a great idea. The idea sounds like a time saving solution. It's also a cute app. I could see it being very handy for business trips/answering to a boss/manager and reporting to them. I could also see this being handy for someone who has a ton of expenses.

Cons

It fails to scan receipts - which is the whole reason for the thing. As an individual contractor/artist it didn't save time at all. Keeping track of expenses is much easier and less time consuming if I tackle a pile of receipts all at once in a simple spreadsheet rather than trying to scan the dang things every time I get one and make sure it's done right. It's actually less time/hands on receipts: Once when I get it, once when I log it.

Expense reporting is easy with Expensify. But it is just that - expense reporting.

Pros

An easy way for corporate expense tracking and reporting. UI is very simple and intuitive. You can do it on the go which is convenient. I really appreciate how smooth and easy it is to update, upload, claim your expenses. Especially comapred to some large systems like SAP.

Cons

Some features are still missing, the automatic sync between credit card and Expensify could work better. You still have to do a lot manually.

It took some time to be the admin on it and setting it up. It did crash a lot where users had to re-load the receipt and put in the info when they tried have Expensify automatically do it for them.

Pros

It is useful when you take the time to learn and it helps with dealing with multiple employees and their expenses.

Cons

It took a long time setting this up and attaching it to our company credit card. I don't know if it was Bank of America or Expensify. Expensify customer service was really helpful.

### "Easy receipt/expense management"

This is the best receipt management tool I've ever used.

Pros

First, Expensify's smart scanning feature is super duper easy and saves me a ton of time. Actually keeping physical receipts during travel is very annoying, and I've lost them before, which is a pain. But Expensify pulls all the data from a photo of the receipt, and allows you to edit it if necessary (the scanning is not 100% perfect, but it only has issues in very few instances). Once the data is pulled from receipts, it can plug into Quickbooks or whatever other accounting service you use. There are many other parts to Expensify, like a time tracker and reporting functionality, but I use them less frequently than the smart scanner. For many types of organizations, I imagine that will be the most useful features, as it allows employees to be reimbursed efficiently, without too much hassle.

Cons

Like I said, the Smart Scan feature is not accurate 100% of the time, but it's pretty close. The upside is that you can edit data if necessary, so it's really only a problem in rare instances. Other than that, I really don't have any criticism for Expensify

I would not advise my clients to use this application. Perhaps someday they will figure out how to handle customers and have some sort of live support. But until then...stay clear.

Pros

Easy as an employee to use for submitting expenses

Cons

How do I stress that their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced? Ever,..from any company!! If you need help, prepare to wait for days (and maybe more days) before you will get an email answer. Items/problems that a phone call would likely solve in 20 minutes will take you a week to complete because of the back and forth and wait time in between. The representatives will not read your emails carefully and will ask questions you already gave answers and then your wait time is yet extended again for anything helpful. You will never speak to a person!!! I even scheduled an online appointment two days in advance and they cancelled 3 minutes before the designated start time because they emailed me and asked me a question and decided they wanted me to do this in another department. It was a question that they should have known about my account since it is their application.

When my company migrated over from different software, I was spending hours a month on submitting and coding receipts. Expensify has cut that time in half with its many features that enable automatic/bulk actions. I love it!

Pros

Expensify's Smart Scan feature (email a receipt in and they auto-scan it to fill out expense coding for you!), ability to drag & drop files, and creating rules. My favorite has to be the "rule" creation. We have a lot of recurring software subscription expenses and now I don't have to re-code every month for dozens of recurring charges.

Cons

I wish you could email receipts to different Credit Cards/Accounts from the same email address. I manage expense coding/submission for multiple accounts and could only link my email to one of them (to forward receipts for scanning). Duplicate expense creation can be a bit confusing- i.e. if you charge something to a CC, then forward the receipt to Expensify, if the receipt is received BEFORE the CC charge hits, there will be a duplicate expense submitted. The only way to tell was the tiny card vs. cash icon on the left of each expense.

Pros

You can take a picture of the receipt and create your expense on the go. This comes really handy as you don't have to take your receipts with you or worry about losing them. The intelligent recognition scans the receipt and fills the merchant, date and amount of the receipt for you. Once you have all your expenses created for a period, you then group them on a report that you submit for approval. As easy as that your expenses get approved and automatically reimbursed to your linked account through your employer. You have a mobile application that is ideal as you can just take a picture of the receipt from the app itself. You can check the status of your report from the application at any time.

Cons

At first, it may be not that straightforward to understand how the process works. It can be confusing if you need to first generate a report or an expense when you start working with the application.

Pros

The app feature. I can go anywhere and get a receipt from anywhere, and quickly snap a picture of it in the app, type in some details, save, and then crumple up the receipt.

Cons

The one thing I like least is that I can't submit miles on the app the way you can on the desktop version. Certainly you can submit distance related expenses on the app, but not with the nice map feature on the desktop version.

Quick and easy to use. Exceptional.

Pros

Our company uses this for tracking team expenses and providing easy access for employees to do their reimbursement process for their work expenses. I love how the system is easy to use. Moreover, it is an extremely fast system in which I have not experienced any delays in any of my transactions.

Cons

I feel that the user interface could be slightly improved. However, when comparing to other systems, this is already a good and user-friendly application.

Pros

I like that my expenses show up automatically for myself and my employees. If I go to the main page with tasks to complete, It basically walks you through the process to make sure you have everything filled out the way it should be.

Cons

The new marketing campaign is weird but doesn't affect the product. What I probably like least is that I don't have any sort of alerts or reminders set up to tell me when to check the expenses or when I have stuff needing my attention. In all fairness, this may be an option I can set up, but I have not found it.

Makes getting my expensise reprts done so much quicker and easier

Pros

Easy to uplaod reciepts. Love the ability to make a purchase, take a picture of the reciept, uplaod the picture and being able to get rid of recipet and not have a ton of recipets filling up my wallet when I travel is AWESOME!

Cons

The milage app is good but could be imroved if it saved default address that I frequently use so I don't alys have to type in the same address for my milages.

Recently as an intern I needed to track my useless expenses so I could but myself some stuffs or travel around and keeping the tabs became too heavy that is when EXPENSIFY came in as the best thing one could land on for its tracking of expenditure everything became so easy to manage from easy inputs of expenses to detailed mails about expense reports. Loving it!!!

Cons

Expensify could provide better documentation of its features because at the beginning it was really hard for me to uncover the features.

The software makes expense reporting super easy! After the initial set-up and learning curve, it saves time from both an employee who submits the report and the person that approves the report.

Pros

Expensify's best feature is that you can easily add an expense to an expense report at the time of creating the expense (snapping a picture with a smartphone app) rather than waiting until the end of the month to create the whole thing. Since we arranged our settings to auto submit, a report gets sent on a timetable that works for us (monthly). This feature allows expenses from piling up. The set-up felt intuitive to me. We were able to adjust it to our own General Ledger codes. Features like emailing receipts to the expense report and smart scanning (the app attempts to read and auto-fill each receipt) makes completing the report much easier. Our office doesn't use direct deposit to bank accounts after the report is properly approved, but it does have that feature.

Cons

We are trying to implement the software office-wide, and those who don't like technology changes find it hard to adjust to using the app. So they scan and email the receipts to themselves to add them to the online software. I feel like they have more steps than a paper expense report. They do not have non-profit pricing. Our department is the only department currently using the software and I doubt if the whole building ever will because the price is geared toward corporations.

Expensify makes it easy for employees to submit timely reimbursements, whether from their phones or the browser. On the other side, Expensify also makes it very easy for the expense administrator to approve reports.

Pros

The UI is so snappy and intuitive to use. Uploading receipts, finding what category to use, finding out if your expense is over budget--the UI tells you all exactly where you expect it.

Cons

This isn't inherent to the product itself, but I found customer support difficult to deal with. When I ran into a bug where the reports I had previously submitted disappeared, I had to wait a few days before they got back to me via email and their first question was basically "are you sure you had submitted them before?"

Pros

What I like most is the ability to have access to this software in multiple locations via the website and smart phone application.

Cons

What I like least is the awkwardness of entering mileage information. There is seemingly no easy way to maintain multiple vehicles without forcing it to adjust. I also wish there was a way to be reminded to put in the ending mileage after a reimbursable trip.

Simplifies expense reporting when it works as expecte

Pros

The software has great features when they work. They have the receipt upload feature that will take a picture and analyze the receipt details including date, price and location and categorize it properly. I occasionally had receipt mis-categorized and or not analyzed at all.

Cons

It was difficult to tell when you had successfully submitted your expenses for review. Once submitted, they would say 'Awaiting review' but it did not say whether it was waiting for you to review, or accounting/your boss, etc.

It was great until they started to send political spam.

Pros

Expensify makes it easy to intake business expenses.

Cons

Last night Expensify sent a political spam email to all our employees! Unprofessional and abusive use of customer data. I would recommend against Expensify for this reason. Using their platform to promote their political views is tone-deaf and a waste of everyone's time.

Currently considering a switch to Certify or Concur.

It is by far the best and easiest expense software tool.

Pros

I've used Expensify for years. Both as an employee and a business owner. The ability to just capture the expense and discard the receipt makes for easy record keeping. I love that it is cross platform.

Cons

The reports don't auto populate from the last expense. Most of my expenses are meals, so if the category stayed the same, that would be nice.
