February 15, 2019 5.0 Time saver, brilliantly simple interface, and it can really get you reimbursed within 1 day or approval, which is awesome. Pros I love how many integrations there are. If you use lyft or uber, it can automatically take care of expensing rides - it also can connect with payroll software to auto-handle the reimbursement process. Cons I think they need to add more integrations for payroll - there are only a couple supported, right now. Otherwise, the prices could be a bit more reasonable, especially for small businesses that don't handle that many reimbursements in a month. Review Source BR Brittany R. After taking a pic of receipt for credit card charge for the business card then it just handles it and tries to code it where it did last time! I just love that! My clients also love it so I am a big fan. It helps us do the pre accounting we need. Cons There are some strange parts of the setup to connect to Intacct that I think could use some work... Especially since they are a CPA.com partner now. Getting that integration right would be amazing. Also- having all card connections would be key. Then I never have to debate putting a client on the software. My colleague who is in charge of reviewing the reports and approving them has also commented that it has saved them a bunch of time as well. Pros Expensify was easy to use without any learning curve, right from the first use. It organizes expenses and reports well, and integrates directly with other payment platforms to process reimbursements. Cons Currently, some of the integrations are a little bit lacking. The Uber integration is awesome, but if you add a tip, it logs a separate expense rather than combining the 2. I also like that it has several different ways to track one's mileage: by odometer reading, by GPS while driving, or manually at the end of a trip. Cons I don't know if this is a con, but I have no idea what the customer service is like behind this program simply because I've never needed to contact that in the 3 years that I've been using it. It's a powerhouse, integrates with your QB etc Cons THERE IS NO PHONE SUPPORT. Yes I read there rational for this and its true that it allowes them to have better support overall. But if you are a new customer or you are making a change and you don't understand something that is essential to your roll out...TOO BAD! You can chat with them and they get back to you within the day but that is no way to have a conversation. We have been stuck trying to get it working for multiple people having multiple cards each with its own policy. We have chatted and over 3 months we have made steady progress....This could all have been avoided with a 1 hr help session...that we would have been happy to pay for. Most people that told me that they use expinsify don't end up staying as at some point its frustrating to wait days or weeks to figure it out over chat Reason for choosing Expensify It seemed to be the best price....But if you factor in the time spent trying to get it to work. Expensify helps us stay organized when reimbursing employees for travel-related expenses. Pros I use Expensify to collect and submit all of my work-related expenses when traveling for my job. I like that you can scan receipts directly into the mobile app, which will then pull all of the relevant information for you. I also like that the app gives you updates when your submission has moved onto the next phase of reimbursement. Cons Sometimes the navigation is a bit difficult to follow on the mobile app. When I submit a receipt for a particular trip, it often gets logged as a separate expense, and I will then have to manually change it. Pros Expensify worked for our company and was good for gathering receipts and capturing photos. It did the job and worked for a sales team of 6 people. Much easier than processing the receipts manually, so saved a lot of HR man power. Cons Ultimately we went with Xero and haven't use Expensify since, as Xero is our accounting package. It provides a lot of integrations with other accounting tools like QuickBooks and NetSuite that helps in facilitating direct reimbursements. From the time you get your receipts, it automates the expense reporting process. Manual entry is eliminated, reducing majority of errors by employment of OCR technology. They provide attractive and affordable monthly plans. While you sync your corporate card, all your transactions get synced automatically. You don’t have to wait till you reach your office to scan your receipts, you can just take a photo of the receipt and upload it. You can categorize and put filters to your expenses. It eliminates paper receipts by using these scanned receipts. Reduction in the time consumed for reviewal, approval and reimbursement process. Cons Few configuration settings only available for admins. The customer service takes a lot of time to respond. Provides limited reporting capabilities. The absence of a reminder feature. Not me, not after we switched to Expensify. They've made it so easy that I wish I had more expense repots to file. Did you ever think you'd hear that? They've made it so easy to add expenses that I no longer dread the end of the month. I love this app! Pros Love their AI. I can forward emailed receipts or snap a photo with my phone and their AI figures it out and populates the expense report. You can create rules, too, so that similar expenses are treated consistently. They've made it so easy to add expenses that I no longer dread the end of the month. Plus its easy to modify expense reports. You can also designate a credit card whose receipts will automatically go to Expensify and their AI will make remarkably good guess on how to classify charges. Cons Honestly, I can't think of a thing I'd change. I wish the rest of the world worked as well as Expensify. Although we have received good feedback about the functionality, we have heard negative comments about cost. Pros The user interface of Expensify is simple and convenient. I like the functionality of the app to capture receipts. Cons In the beginning Expensify's cost was reasonable. Over time the costs have increased. I have decided to go with another company that offers the same services, with more capabilities, for 1/3 the price. Pros I had first reviewed this app a year ago and lit was benched until 2019. At the time, I liked its features and its ease of use. At that time they had great ratings. Cons I had a trial version that I was test driving and one of my employees was able to create a profile on our company profile without authorization. I contacted customer service and they told me to delete them but did not give me any explanation for this happening. I have revisited the reviews of this company and heir ranking and scoring has diminished. Pros The product is good. It's flexible, easy for users to adopt, and it's available on multiple platforms. Cons We have had two issues over time that have required tech support from Expensify. Both times the issues were ultimately not resolved. The company has tried to automate tech support in a way that eliminates the ability to talk to an actual person. Ultimately, we decided to migrate away from Expensify to a platform that provides better support. Much better than other expense systems I've used. Pros The app really makes it easy to track my receipts on business trips and enter them in as I go. I also really like the feature my company enabled where if you select cheaper hotel options you can get amazon gift cards. It's a nice incentive to encourage cost savings for the company and really nice for employees if you aren't too particular about your lodgings. Cons I've run into issues with the site timing out occasionally and it was not my internet connection. On one particular occasion it took about 30 minutes to book a trip when I already knew which flight and hotel I wanted. Just a lot of waiting for pages to progress. Pros The way expensify is built lets me input my expenses in a seamless way, with a lot of customization on the background to ensure I don't miss any mandatory company information. Then it lets me create reports to easily track my type of expenses. I can also check the status of the expenses, and the company can interact with me for specific details on a expense. The mobile app is a life saver.As HR and payroll support to the payroll finance tam, I also have admin access that allows me verify any expenses being processed at each payroll in a seamless way.this product is great. Pros For any software that requires tedious entry and categorization of items, the key is performance. Expensify meets the bill, both with the website and mobile application. Creating reports, adding expenses, navigation is all very fast. Expensify autosaves all report activity which is a lifesaver if you accidentally close the site or mobile app. Smartscan allows you to take a photo of the receipt and Expensify will scan the photo and auto-populate categories. This saves SO much time compared to having to scan receipts and upload them. Cons It would be nice to have more integrations with other travel systems, i.e. travel booking systems, ride share applications, hotel chains. The smartscan feature is hit or miss, sometimes it picks up all the information and other times nothing gets auto-filled. You also can't combine receipts in the same smartscan, i.e. two taxi receipts don't get totaled together. Smartscan also isn't great at understanding foreign currencies, this sometimes makes for amusing reports. Review Source Ze W.
