Expensify simplifies expense management with an intuitive interface, cool receipt scanning feature, and smooth integration with accounting software.

Pros

The SmartScan mobile app automatically reads the receipt details when a picture is taken for a receipt, so there is no need to manually track your expenses

Cons

Smartscan is super convenient but it can be buggy sometimes so you need to review your expenses just in case there is a mistake. It doesn't happen all the time but it does happen.

Pros

Expensify was extremely user friendly and I loved being able to snap a picture of a receipt and automatically upload in live time after a purchase was made.

Cons

The only inconvenience was when I would upload a receipt intended for an existing report, but a new report would be generated. Not sure if I was doing something wrong or if the system sometimes glitches.

Pros

Very simple to use, tells you if you need to submit a report or not, and is very explicit with what you need to do

Cons

The smartscanning is too slow to use, but auto starts when uploading a receipt so is a bit annoying to then change to manual

Great software for expenses, I would recommend it to everyone who is looking for new app

Pros

It gives you the ability to easily submit your expenses using mobile app where you can take photo of the receipt and just submit it in few minutes.

Cons

I didnt found any issues with this software so far so there is no much to say in here for me. Great app

Cons

Difficult to get to work across the team. We started using this app for all team expenses, but when team members would send the expenses to the individual that processed them, it was very inconsistent as to whether she received the expenses or not. Ended up wasting lots of time trying to figure out why it worked for some team members but didn't work for others. No longer use the software.

Pros

The app is easy to use and saves time on repetitive data entry tasks, since receipts can be scanned in and details are entered automatically. The free trial version covers limited volume needs for smaller businesses and means we were able to test it out before switching from our previous expense software.

Cons

It takes a little while to get used to the interface, especially on the web version.

Pros

I like that you are able to create different policies so that you can categorize expenses. For example, we allow employees to reimburse their mobile device up to a certain amount, and the employee can only invoice for that amount each month. This helps us to track spending on those categories a little easier.

Cons

In general, expensify is not a very user friendly expense platform. I haven't used many other platforms, but this one requires a lot of admin oversight and support. Users have a difficult time creating reports and also navigating between different policies. There could also be an easier way to add employees to the system during the onboarding process, it's currently quite manual.

Expensify gets rid of paper expense reports and the need to request updates on submitted reports, which saves a lot of time and manual work!

Pros

It was really easy to get started with Expensify. You can scan receipts and invoices, with which Expensify pulls the required information for expense reports. When that can't be done, you can manually enter the information from your purchase. The money goes right to your bank account, which is set up right in the app.

Cons

I don't have any complaints about Expensify. Sometimes I have a hard time determining the appropriate department and category for my purchase, but this isn't a reflection on the app itself.

Their customer service is some of the best I've ever seen. Any time we've had a problem (which wasn't often), they have always been very responsive and have resolved the issue quickly.

Cons

I do wish there were a few more features that could possibly integrate into our accounting software a little bit better.

Frustrating, but partially due to the way the account was set up and not the software itself. Make sure your company does a thorough job with implementation and has a great internal admin for the software.

Pros

The receipt scanning from your phone is fantastic. And the fact that you can forward receipts to them. Seriously makes the process so easy.

Cons

To be honest, the only thing that's tricky is that it's so secure that if your admin doesn't set something up properly, they're the only person who can fix it. For example, my account was set up with only one person for approvals but a second person needed to be added. So I had to make sure I manually submitted each reimbursement with that person CCed or else the software would automatically send the expense report to only the default recipient. And you can't copy over the receipts in your expense reports. So when I had to resubmit expense reports, I had to manually download each receipt and then reupload them and resubmit. Customer support is nice but their default response is to connect with your company's account admin.

Being a great steward of the expenses this really does help us as a team to keep items unified.

Pros

It really is nice to have all my expenses in one place and organized in a way that I can submit my reports easily.

Cons

Most of the purchasing is done out at coffee shops or restaurants. The smartscan takes much longer than I would prefer. It should be mush easier in my opinion. I usually have to go back in on my computer and enter the information which means I'm doing the work twice.

The app need integration with many corporate systems so that it's easier for reimbursement. Personal expenses can be tracked but they obviously do not get reimbursed

Pros

We use Expensify with our personal credit cards to track corporate spend. The interface is pretty clean and makes allocating expenses to specific projects or initiatives easy. Smart scan is mostly great, but it sometimes fails.

Cons

The feed design of pending submitted expenses makes it difficult to see if an expense has already been submitted. I've duplicated expenses before as I forgot I'd already submitted it, and the feed view makes it tough to check.

We are able to keep our accounting books more up to date by using this program.

Pros

I like the ease of use and the ability to add receipts from anywhere. It helps to keep our records up to date and you can upload them from anywhere so less receipts are lost.

Cons

I don't like the difficulty to have multiple accounts at the same time. I wish you could add different company accounts to the same user to simplify the process across the board.

Pros

The best thing about Expensify is the ease with which one can enter expenses instantly. Its user interface is also easy and simple. One of the best feature is SmartScan, which reduces time and efforts in entering data manually. Even the mobile application is also well designed.

Cons

Pricing is one area where Expensify can improve, as I believe small businesses may find it a bit costly. Otherwise, it is a great tool.

The major benefit for me is expenses are submitted immediately and in an organized manner. I am able to upload the receipt and account for everything. Since it is so easy to use I can track expenses as they happen and submit when ready

Pros

Expensify is easy to navigate for users with all levels of experience with software and applications. The product provides simple instructions to enable user to keep track of business expenses in which they can be reimbursed. The software helps me to stay organize and submit my reimbursement in a timely manner.

Cons

There was really nothing about the software that I didn't like. I felt it was pretty self explanatory to use. I believe our HR department had some set up to do in order for things to work so easy for the end user.

### "Can't shut it off!!!"

Resilence from having to deal with their horrible help system.

Pros

None of the pros matter because if you try to shut it off they won't do it. I was planning to shut Expensify off for a period of time and they will not shut it off and/or stop billing me. Before you say to yourself, he's doing this wrong or that wrong, keep in mind that I've tried five different ways including just sending them an email saying "Shut me off please." They continue to charge and continue to tell me to do things that I've already done and don't work.

Easy to use interface. Inexpensive. Desktop and app sync quickly. Lots of potential with.

Cons

Everyday there is a different glitch/patch/problem that arises with both the desktop and app versions. Not a complete and comprehensive program for all expense reporting needs. Will not sync with all credit card types. Customization not extensive. Worst of all is the customer service. Any inquiry (via a chat box) will not be replied to for minimum 4 days up to 2 weeks.

We went with a better company for not much more money. Make your own deal I will not advertise competitors. I switched from this product last month but still get emails.

Pros

Cheap Price was reasonable quality was average with some glitches. You get what you pay for. We now have better.

Missing lots of useful developments in modern day software for tracking billing.

### "Expensify Solves the Receipt Problem"

Expensify has solved the problem of getting receipts from clients that I need to do their bookkeeping properly. A great help to me and my client.

Pros

Expensify has been a big help for my nonprofit client to get me all the receipts I need to do their bookkeeping. Plus my client can trash all those pesky paper receipts because they are now digital and stored on Expensify. All you have to do is either scan or take a picture of the receipts with your phone and through the Expensify app and it shows up right there. Here is another bonus of using Expensify, it can integrate with Quickbooks online and classify transactions for you and put them directly into the register. For me the best part is that it can digitize and store receipts and I can get them from my client without her having to physically give them to me. So much easier!

Cons

A couple of cons with this software is that when it's populating a report from the receipts scanned or photographed it sometimes has errors. Either it can read the receipt or it can decipher what classification it should be under. You might have to go in and fix it sometimes. Another annoyance is if you tell it to transfer classified transactions over to Quickbooks online and you have your bank account connected as well it can produce duplicate transactions. So watch out for that.
