No more loose receipts in your pocket! Pros I have used different tools in different companies, but I must say Expensify is the most useful and intuitive. Cons There isn’t something bad. From uploading receipts to getting paid, it is all an amazing experience. When it works, it can be a helpful tool for organizing spending. However, that convenience is completely overshadowed by their terrible billing practices and lack of customer support. Cons I've had recurring, shady issues with Expensify’s billing system, and after my latest experience, I can’t recommend this platform. I never canceled my personal subscription, yet it was automatically canceled due to a failed credit card charge—without any notification that my card had declined. Somehow, my new credit card (which I never manually updated) was mysteriously applied to a Group account I never created or authorized—and I started getting charged $10/month for it. Expensify’s billing system is confusing, opaque, and borderline deceptive. There was no email or notification when my new card was added, no transparency about how this happened, and no easy way to fix it. Given that I travel frequently, I expect clear, upfront billing—instead, I keep running into unauthorized charges and a lack of accountability. If you’re considering Expensify, be extremely cautious about their billing practices. They make it way too easy for unexplained charges to show up, and their lack of transparency is concerning. As a Marketing Manager constantly booking work flights, hotels, meals, and ordering everything from postcards to pull-up banners, Expensify has made tracking and submitting expenses incredibly seamless. One of my favorite features? If I forget my physical Expensify card (which used to happen more than I’d like to admit), I can still get reimbursed quickly and easily. But honestly, forgetting it is no longer an issue now that I can add my Expensify card to Apple Wallet—genius move! It makes covering even the smallest charges, like a $2 parking meter, so effortless that I don’t even have to think about it. Expensify has turned what used to be a tedious chore into something I barely notice—just the way it should be. Thank you, Expensify! For both staff and our finance department, it has helped reduce the amount of paper that is needed to be filled out, turned in and then filed after approval. This has helped us decrease the amount of paperwork boxed up in our storage room as well as help us lessen our ecological footprint lessening the amount of paper and toner used. The UI needs a lot of improvement. The team should focus on the app from the perspective of a new user and right now for a first time user, its a bit confusing. Also, the app reached through the inbox option should be the face of the app when you log in. Also, the SQL sorting that the app uses is not great as it returns false data. Pros It is easier to track expenses and I believe its easy to view and approve the expenses as well. I like the category wise bifurcation. On my laptop, it flows nicely and the legacy version, in my opinion, is more versatile. Payments and reimbursements are better there as you can easily create a report there. Cons I would prefer it was also segregated date wise and a subtotal was displaced for each date. Mobile app needs improvement. It could be similar to SmartReceipts app where it is much easier to upload and submit the receipts. I never struggle to submit expenses, even though I only do a handful times a year, and I have had no prior experience. Cons I did initially struggle to figure how to add expenses to a report, it makes more sense in my head to create a report, then be able to add the existing expenses to the report, but instead you need to "send" the expenses to the report.
