The software team are very responsive with issues and resolutions come fast. Overall I am very pleased. Pros 1\. Ease of operation. 2.A variety of reports 3.Employee address and phone number tracking as well as salary 4. Easily backed up on a schedule. Cons I would like it to have an Iphone application that I could easily access to quickly view my staff and their in/out status. I would like it to have the functionality that I could set it up to receive alerts when someone punches in late or take a longer lunch than allotted. I really like the fact that the support is in the same time zone as our office and not on the other side on the planet. Pros It is pretty easy to use. Only had a few questions to setup the program for our office. The lady I spoke to was incredibly helpful and nice. Our old time clock took up to thirty minutes to run a payroll report. I've not run a full report with this one, as we are still just setting it up for use by employees, but the report feature runs so much more smoothly. Cons I would like the ability to set the number of breaks as well as the length of them. Also, payroll reports took way too long to run. With the tech support on the other side of the world, it was difficult to communicate with them when in a time crunch, such as when payroll was the next day and errors were occurring. Employees can see info on vacation and missed punches Pros I own my copy and do not have to pay monthly or per user fees. Cons 1\. does not interface with Quickbooks ONLINE 2. Scheduling is limited. Need to have more flexibility. We have overlapping shifts, we need to apply a schedule to each employee. 3. Need a holiday calculator based on the number of hours worked. As a customer for so long I don't remember, I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a time keeping program for a small office. Other than a few minor issues, I enjoy the simplicity & ease of use. I have looked into other programs and none offer what Virtual TimeClock offers at the same price. Pros Virtual TimeClock is simple & easy to use - both for management & employees. Cons 1 - When adding multiple punches, it's time consuming to be forced to re-click each item. Meaning I have to re-click the "Stop" check box and then also select the Activity after each manual entry. 2 - Holiday hours not being broken out separately. Instead of being calculated into the Regular hours, I'd like to see them broken out into their own category. In our instance, holiday hours being paid at time & 1/2 do not count towards their overtime hours. I would like to see hours broken out as: Regular, Overtime, Holiday, Total. It does exactly what I need it to do and the customer support is amazing. Any time I have a question I have received fast and friendly service. Pros This software is easy to use and set up. I use it for payroll as well as for specific jobs. Each job has it's own # and employees can easily switch between different jobs throughout the day. I can print out hours for each job or for each employee or for a specific timeframe. It's very easy to filter for exactly what you want. Cons After a job is complete and moved to "inactive" you cannot print a report for it unless you make it active again, it would be nice if you could choose between active, inactive or all activities. You also cannot clock back into that job just by making it active again, there are several steps to go through to allow employees to clock into it again after it has already been changed to active. It would be nice to allow only certain employees access to certain activities without making a new group for them because you can't view more than one group at at time. If I want to see all users I will get past employees as well. If I make an admin group and a tech group I can't view everyone that is clocked in, I would have to switch between groups to see everyone that's clocked in. This software we run on several tablets so each employee can have a clock in their location. Owner Retail Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Easy timeclock software on Mac" July 9, 2019 4.0 Keeping track of employee's hours, managing attendance, sending messages when needed, allows staff to monitor their hours to keep OT under control, manager access to oversee payroll budget when making the schedule. Pros The system has a kiosk interface on the mac that can easily convert to an administrative screen for supervisors to run reports. The latest updates to the system allows missed punches to be added by the employee with a note stating the correction or suggestive start/stop time that was missed. Can send notes to the employees. Install is super easy. Cons They stopped developing a cloud based/mobile based version. If updating software goes too long after many updates to Mac IOS, then the system doesn't want to backup when set (doesn't work well with backing up to a remote device) or the daemon to run the timeclock service from server to client drops more frequently. It was easy to setup all of the employees in the program and it's been simple to use. Pros The product was simple to setup and implement. Everyone adapted quickly to the new program. Easy to use and great way to keep employment records. Pros Besides it being accessible from almost anywhere (we have network addition), I like the customized reports, the details such as keeping track of Paid Time Off, and the details such as that it flags people who forget to clock-out. You know those people. Cons The messaging is a good idea, except they need to figure out a way to make it interact with the administrators more. For instance, I am the boss. I don't clock in all of the time. So if some employee messages me, I won't see it for days. It would be great if they implemented SMTP(email) or SMS where you would get messages outside the system as well. I was looking for a software that was easy for my team to use, and easy for them to be able to see their information. It is very easy to set up and get started, and use. Cons The software does not integrate with our accounting software, but I knew it wouldn't, there is nothing out there that will provide integration along with a job costing feature. November 7, 2018 4.0 There are so many wonderful reports that can be created to analyze one's work force and activities assigned to each employee! There are more benefits than I realized prior to purchasing the software. Pleasantly surprised! Pros It has a detailed "time Card" printout for each week and allows the employee to sign and verify that there aren't any mistakes prior to processing payroll! Cons I run a small company that doesn't need a very complex TimeClock software, so Virtual TimeClock is the perfect fit. No complaints here! The software offers more options than we need. The only thing I wish is that I could program the software to calculate a 1/2 hour of unpaid lunch from 12pm to 12:30pm. I have found a way around this by asking the software to automatically delete 1/2 hour unpaid break after 5 hours of work. This works just fine as an alternative. It keeps track of holidays, overtime, paid days off and is easy to read timesheet once printed. Pros This software is inexpensive and does the job fairly easy. Cons We have never been able to get the software to link work with QuickBooks. At first I spent time with customer support trying to resolve the issue and could not fix the issue. I have had our accounts manager try to resolve the issue and she could not fix the issue. We can get it to add some employees time correctly, but then some employees never would transfer hours correctly. We use the software for employees to clock in and out only. Then the accounts manager enters the hours manually into QuickBooks. We gave up. Reason for choosing Virtual TimeClock We chose Virtual Time Clock because I did the trial for us to try out. So far its been very easy to use with the exception of a few things not being available. Pros Ease of use clocking in and out for the employees which have no experience in dealing with computers so not having profiles and passwords was a huge plus. Cons Timely customization of new feature suggestions. Would be nice if I could pay for features to be put into the software. One user pays for a feature they need and other users get it free in update. Also, take suggestions for the software enhancements and let your users vote on what ones will be written into the software. After all it is the users that work with the software on a daily basis. We love that we can enter our employee's rate of PTO and it calculates the amounts automatically. It's great for keeping track of how much PTO is used and lets us know how much we still have available to use. Pros Virtual Timeclock is simple to use and to set up. Usually, I have to leave a message, IT then calls back, asks for a credit card, waits for processing, then they help you. Pros Time is reported in "regular time" so there are no conversions necessary (for example: If time for the week equals 40.43 that means 40 hours and 43 minutes ... NOT 40 hrs. & almost 1/2 of an hour). Cons Administratively, there is definitely a learning curve. Corrections to be made are a bit tricky, but understandable once you grasp the processing of the information. Can not access while working remotely without having access to a computer it is installed on. It's been great" July 23, 2018 4.0 Pros The constant updating for the program means that it becomes more streamlined as the updates come out and the features become more and more helpful for everyday uses and the administrators. Who have more control over the software. We find the network side to quite efficient and reliable. Overall it's fantastic software for its purpose. Cons We use the software on a daily basis in terms of because for the product we find that sometimes it's not always responsive and it doesn't always pick up our DNS server for the implementation of the software on a new workstation but I just pick in the IP address. I'm pretty much nick picking there's not much I can put down as a con for the product. Pros User friendly and the different levels of security for users, managers, and administrators. Cons As an administrator, with the recent program upgrade, in the approval process, I now can't change the dates at the top of the page, as I could before. Sometimes, another administrator will close out the period, and I still need to export some data for records. I then have to reopen prior period in configuration, then go back to approval window, export, then close period again. It is easy to add employees and integrates with our payroll system. On the administrative end it is easy to make corrections, process reports and integration files for payroll, etc. Cons In earlier versions of the software you could send memos to departments. Now you have to select individuals or everyone and not send a memo to departments.
