Pros: easy layout tabs, and able to find tess, labs, or soapnotes more easily and able to print directly from the soapware

Cons: not user friendly, hard to understand, freezes/locks up several times a day, could not fax from service, was not web based, had to have a server and it still would not hold the lad we needed for our office

Comments: None

Pros: Easy for staff and clinicians to tailor to their environment. The software and support are inexpensive.

Cons: Reporting tools are lacking. You cannot pull quality reports and the practice management reports are extremely basic without any ability to customize.

Comments: So I have only used SopwWare since at least 2010. It has changed and become more complex, I suspect secondary to all the changing regulations. I have been determined to learn the the new requirements and software changes. Despite all that, I do think that my quality of care, documentation, payments and interactions with patients has resulted in significant care improvement. The likeliness to a chart made finding data intuitive. Customer support is excellent. I would recommend this product. I would like their HISP to be more widely accepted, that's my only beef

Comments: I have used Soapware since 1999. It was a great, inexpensive product that was flexible and easy to use. However, Docs, Inc. is not moving fast enough to keep up with the changing medical landscape. The government mandates have ruined this software package because they concentrated on that instead of making it easy to use. I went to the cloud-based system and it is slow, frequently freezes and loses data. I have the entire software shut down on me at least 3 times a day on average--most of my staff and the other doctors in the practice have even more trouble. There is no working dictation available and it is not designed for an iPad. Although the customer service is excellent, they cannot solve their problems. The practice management software is awful--you cannot run necessary reports--e.g. find office visits that have not been billed and copays do not show up anywhere until the visit is posted, making the end of day balancing very difficult--not everyone gets their charges in the same day. At one time there were several months when the statements going out to patients were wrong. I spent hours sending out refunds to patients that were given incorrect amounts to pay--and this is expensive (checks, envelopes, postage, time)--I tried to get the company to discount for a month given the problems and they offered me training. I needed software that worked, not training. Billing companies do not want to work with it because it is so slow and lacking the features making it easy to use. Again one example--each line of billing has to be clicked and diagnosis added individually (if you use a billing company to post charges). Now Soapware is concentrating on Direct Primary Care when it is their software that needs work. We were also unable to use outside programs for reporting--Prime Registry through the ABFP as an example--because the reporting in Soapware could not give them what they needed. Getting simple reports--like a breakdown of population by race was time-consuming and cumbersome. I contacted support and I had to run lists of each individual race, put that on an xls file and add the numbers to get this simple report (needed to apply for CPC+).
I could say a lot more but we are actively looking for a new vendor. The good news is that they are helping us with trying to figure out data transfer. I wish their product was as good as the support people who work there.

Pros: Ease of operation after you overcame the obstacles of learning the system.

Cons: The system "freezes up" quite often. The many updates that we have had caused loss of information that was convenient for billing.

Recommendations to other buyers: Insist on customer service being available when needed. When we first began the billing the associate we were assigned had an unacceptable attitude many times when asked simple questions. We would rather use trial and error to solve our own problems.

My experience with Soapware has been great for the most part.

Pros: It is very user friendly. It was very simple to learn all the ins and outs and since I have taught several other employees to use the software

Cons: I do not like the error messages that are given by Soapware on a daily basis. It is very frustrating when this happens in the middle of treating patients.

Recommendations to other buyers: Please try to resolve any issues there may be that cause the error messages. If the error messages were not a problem the software would be wonderful.

Pros: I would say it is very user friendly to use and customer service is great really. Technology has really came along way and I think that soapware maybe needs to look at upgrading for their program to keep up with technology.

Cons: Every time is time for an update you can bet there will be problems to follow. Also when you are in demographics and trying to put a patient in the program it will freeze up on you and you have to log out and log back in to finish with the patient that you are on meantime patient is still on the phone.

Pros: Very user friendly and very intuitive to use. It is highly customizable. It appears like a paper chart. It has good technical support. They do listen to input from users and make the changes when they can most times. It is integrated system with billing/practice management and EMR/patient's documentation. Additionally, it is a good value ( one of the least expensive software software)

Cons: Since the upgraded a few years ago, the system has gotten slower to use and often freezes up. The system also does not work consistently with Dragon dictation system. There was an issue with the mouse jumping around which continues today although there have been modest improvements over the years.

Recommendations to other buyers: Like in any local based server Systems, one would needs to know some basics of computing and network - or get one to help you. Test the software ( the company allow this on their servers by using remote desktop - which is good). Also view comments of users on the website. They have a lot of dedicated users who love software but also it will show areas of concerns about the software.

Pros: Very easy for the end user to customize. Company was started an is owned by a physician who understands what we want in an EMR.

Cons: Like all EMR software companies development over the last several years has been dominated by government mandates for meaningful use.

Recommendations to other buyers: SOAPware can be easily customized and fits many different work flow patterns. It offers both in EMR and billing module. I highly recommend SOAPware.

Comments: Soapware was originally very simple and efficient. Over the past several years, it has morphed into a complex and difficult EHR. I am not interested in Meaningful Use and other government requirements. I want to take care of my patients. Soapware has become an impediment.

Comments: Our clinic left SOAPware to try Practice Fusion. BIG MISTAKE. We also tried eClinical, Amazing Charts and Mastermind EHR -- all HORRIBLE programs. Customer service is nonexistent. We will stick with SOAPware! DO NOT ever use another EHR. Go to SOAPware and save yourself a headache.

Despite having used the product for approximately 10 years, any significant problem pediatricians have noted regarding immunizations has been disregarded on a regular basis and addressed only on a rudimentary level. I would not recommend the program to another pediatrician starting anew.

Comments: I have been a SOAPware user since 2003. I've been extremely happy with the software as well as with support from the company. SOAPware offers an integrated EMR/billing solution. It is extremely customizable and this can be done easily by the end user. Data input can be done through dictation, typing, pick lists, or templates. The company listens to its users. SOAPware has worked hard at helping users to adapt to the current regulatory environment including meeting meaningfully use requirements, helping with setting up chronic care management systems, and already has most diagnoses coded for ICD 10. The billing solution works well and allows me to do billing in-house. In summary, I would highly recommend SOAPware to anyone looking at an EMR.
