The ease of the everyday use of this program is great. Very user-friendly and quick to enter information. It also is great about not letting you move on to the next screen until you have all of the important information. The problem I have is that because we are such a small practice the amount we have tied up in claims needing work on Athena's end is making it very hard to flourish without those payments.

Overall Athena is a great product. Their Customer care associates are very helpful and easy to work with. The clinical product is easy to use although the latest conversion did not help speed up the process. Billing product is superb and it is great to be able to drop a bill the moment a patient's visit is over.

### "Could Be Better..."

Pros

Fairly straightforward. Easy to learn in a short time frame. Relatively clean and easy to navigate.

Cons

The reports feature is an absolute nightmare. Being a Clinical Research Coordinator, I am constantly trying to run reports for all of our different studies and my success rate for running a functional report is pretty minimal. I also do not like how it doesn't hold accountability very well. I feel that Athena should demand start and stop dates for medications as well as treatments/problems. Also! Be careful- it's far too easy to delete things!

I AM NEW TO ATHENA AND LOVE IT. WE ARE CURRENTLY IN THE PROCESS OF TURNING THE ATHENA PATIENT PORTAL ON FOR ALL OF OUR PRACTICES. COMING FROM A DIFFERENT PATIENT PORTAL I AM EXCITED TO SEE THIS ONE. IT SEEMS LIKE A GREAT PRODUCT, USER FRIENDLY, AND VERY EFFECIENT. I HAVE BEEN DOING MY STREAMLINE TRAINING AND AM EXCITED TO LEARN THIS IN MORE DETAIL TO HELP TRAIN MY TEAMMATES.

This medical software has made all of our jobs much easier- takes loads of work off of you. From confirming appointments to verifying insurances and billing.

Pros

Insurance verification while scheduling appointments-Saves the time of scheduling patients without active insurance or referrals. This system facilitates everything for you so that we are aware of these errors prior to scheduling an appointment.

### "Looking out for THEIR bottom line"

I would NEVER recommend Athena products. Other providers cautioned me against choosing such a large company to partner for EMR/Billing because larger companies are not as concerned with each customer as smaller companies. We found this to be 100% true. Athena was only concerned with THEIR BOTTOM LINE AND THEIR LOST COSTS. The sales rep even had the audacity to tell me that the cost of my two training sessions exceeded the money deposit which means they value each training session at cost. As a small business, I cannot overstate how disappointed I am in the service and experience I had with Athena.

Pros

Offer more features than competitors. Athena is a larger EMR company with a large network of providers in many specialty areas.

Cons

Had an "expiring" deal to pressure us into signing up. Material facts of our arrangement changed and Athena would not refund our deposit so our company lost money for the two training sessions we received. Full EMR/Billing software suite VERY expensive (over 9%) compared to industry.

Pros

I have used this software as the patient, and I think it’s great! The easiest part is the billing. Medical bills can be difficult to keep track of often, however this software makes it easy for a patient to see all their billing info in one place.

Cons

I’m always a fan of apps, and I wish there was an app!

I love Athena Health, just started using it in 2014 and compared to other software systems I have used within the last 18 years, Athena Health is better.

Pros

Easy to understand. Ease of use.

Cons

Under the Remittance section of uploading the remittance if we recieve it along with the mastercard/visa, that section of where you place the check/other - Credit card has been taken off. Please place that section back on/

Pros

Really love everything about the EMR and trust the vendor. Physican friendly, efficient, adaptable, quality focused, very simple and intuitive in use, the online Community is wonderful in support, the leadership is forward thinking and smart, meaningful use a breeze, ICD 10 well managed, pay for performance focused, excellent company support and fun to use.

Cons

I really don't have any negatives. Recent change in work flow due to product upgrade with Streamline has been bump in the road but after a few weeks of use I'm actually more efficient now than I was on the Classical version-wouldn't want to go back.

Pros

Adding orders to the diagnosis is simple and quick. The general aesthetic is nice to look at and it is simple to learn and navigate.

Cons

It would be easier to have the option to toggle between patients instead of returning to the main screen. It would also be more efficient to search and input ICD 10 codes in Athena rather than using Google to search for the codes.

Pros

CSC call center. Openness to listen/receive provider feedback to improve both their's and the provider's workflow. Learning Library.

Cons

Athena's follow-up team never follow provider instructions and always throw claims back to providers to work on when they are being paid to follow up on claims, thus leading to unnecessary back-and-forth of claim instructions. In my opinion, Athena team does not do enough in-depth research for claims, making me wonder what we are we really paying them to do. Constant unnecessary upgrades. Limitation on the customization of the program for providers.

Pros

Athena is a very robust and even overwhelming system, but once it's refined for your practice, it is fairly easy to manage and understand. It can do most things within the system and the transparency is key to management. My account manager is responsive to our questions and needs, and our monthly meetings are invaluable support for our small practice.

Cons

There can be many clicks required to accomplish certain tasks. Recently, however, something was redesigned poorly and Athena quickly picked up on the dissatisfaction of users, and took it back to it's older, simple functionality.

If I could give negative stars for customer support (after go-live) I would but that is not an option. Overall Athena has not lived up to its hype. Document management for a large practice with multiple locations and two specialties is horrendous. Surgery scheduling module is painful as well. We knew that going into this product but we held out hope that our schedulers would catch on, unfortunately, it just does not work for our practice at this point. The new scheduling module might be better so we are holding out hope. If considering this product make sure you fully understand the buckets and document management. And I mean spend more time learning these pieces of the system than you could have ever possibly imagined. Overall, It is a struggle.

Pros

Reports. Co-sourcing of billing office. Pre-go live project planning. Support at go-live.

Cons

Document management. Task Assignment Overrides. Customer Service. Ability to solve problems in a timely manner. Lack of in-depth training necessary for such a complex system.
