Pros

The system is much faster than others we have used. Templates load quickly which saves a ton of time.

Cons

The first "round" of collections is automated by Athena. Often, the notes they have on the accounts to not relate to the chart. for example, they will state- referral needed, but the referral is in the chart already. Could be because its still new but it is still a major issue for us presently.

Pros

They use to have a format excellent one page you were able to see all about the patient, now is by layers and open different tabs worse decision they made. Was an easy excellent and most important very fast to see patients now really bad time consuming and is the design is incorrect for pediatrics

I do not like it at all for physicians the most important thing is to open in one page and be able to see all now is horrible every thing has to be click in order to be seen

The Athena team helped us customize our EMR to the needs of the practice. We created templates that were similar to our sick and well sheets that made go live much easier. It did take some getting used to, but, after 2 days we were at full schedules. The system is very user friendly. Like any new program it takes practice and getting used to. Unlike other stories, our revenue actually went up due to reduction in employees. After 8 months our staff was down by 25%. That is a significant decrease from 40 people. All our faxes are routed to Boston and placed directly into the patients chart saving my staff the headache. Referrals and chart export are all electronic driven. Our only regret is not doing years ago. My physicians now can look up patients at home, on their phone, at work and on their ipads. They have access anywhere they have internet. Athena's customer service department is always willing to help me change a template or create a new one. The knowledge and support is the best in the industry. We began running much cleaner and efficiently on Athena clinicals. I really have no idea why a practice would go with anyone else. Hands down they are the best!

Since switching to Athena our receptionists have had a much easier time in keeping accounts up to date . Making new appointments also take less time per phone call and checking out. Patient flow is smoother.

Great EHR software and an amazing patient portal both which make my job easier!!! Just need to fix a few minor bugs then would be a 5 star product!!

Pros

I like that it's very easy to use and it does it's own updates! The patient portal is a big help!

Cons

Customer service takes forever! Waiting on the phone is that last thing anyone wants to do. Program is slow sometimes and I have to call Athena to get it fixed! Also you cannot connect to another doc office if they are not a part of the Athena network!

Pros

AthenaHealth is always there for you. Any question you have, they have someone that can answer it. The system is easy to use and has almost everything you could ask for. Excellent for a small practice. They also listen to their users. They have made many changes, for ease of use, and adding in direct messaging to other users in your office.

Cons

I have found nothing to complain about. Every problem I have had has been addressed in a helpful and timely manner.

Pros

Athena is easy to use. The reporting capabilities are great! I no longer have to maintain excel spreadsheets from month to month :) CSC is helpful and I really like the option to submit questions/issues online versus having to be on the phone.

Cons

There should be more customizing available for clinicals and communicator! It's frustrating to have things show up in the patient chart that has NOTHING to do with our visit as a specialty practice. We should also be able to customize the online forms in patient portal so the same questions are asked on the online form as there are on the paper print-out form.

We have been on Athena for four and a half years now and I like it overall I think the practice management side is better than the EMR function It is an expensive system overall but I think they do a good job on billing and tech support is good. The quality management piece and some of the past medical history sections are really awkward to use. The management of paper in the office is good and we have been able to reduce a lot of the paper that floated around the office There is just a lot to learn with the system to do everything you want and it can be overwhelming when first starting with it The fact that it is a cloud-based system is great We have only gone down a few minutes a year because of an Athena issue The phone app works great and has made it not a big deal to cover call for myself all the time I truly can have a prescription sent in while talking on the phone to someone or document an ED recommendation

I implemented this product in a practice, then started training providers on this product. I am stationary now and using another product that doesn't come close to Athena. Unfortunately, I am unable to switch over to Athena! I have used several different EMR/Practice management products and Athena is the best!

Pros

Athena can do most anything in their EMR/Practice Management product!

Cons

Percentage rate of collections can be a little high. Billing department can be a little hard to get a hold of, but over a great product.

Pros

What I like the best about this product is it's user-friendliness. It's set up in a very logical and cohesive way. That being the case, the overall experience in navigating it is painless.

Cons

What I like the least is the amount to updates that are done. Just when we I am getting to a feature or where to find it, there may be an update that moves things around. But most of the updates, once I get use to them, make ATHENA even more efficient.

clinical side is okay to use. The doctors state it is easy to chart with. Meaningful use is manageable.

Cons

The billing is horrible. You are third party to your money. Half the time our biller is double checking athena

Pros

Nothing. They stopped listening to physicians several years ago and this is the result. The tagline of "let doctors be doctors" is the biggest lie yet.

Cons

Streamlined is the biggest misnomer i have seen in a long time. It takes longer to do just about everything now and many, many, many of the great modifications that they integrated over the years are gone and per Athena support they are not coming back. No explanation, no rationale.

Pros

The system is easy to navigate and there is always customer support if there is any issues. They are very polite and can usually walk me through my issues with no problems. If they don't know the answer they make sure they find someone who does know. This is a very user friendly system.

Cons

The only thing that comes to mind is at times there is long hold times for customer support. Other than that I can't think of anything that I like least.

What I like the most about athenaOne is the vast amount of information that can be shared. There isn't much that it can't be used for when it comes to patient care.

Cons

I felt like it took a good bit of learning to become comfortable with all the features and to become efficient.

We have a had a pretty good experience. The CSC is invaluable. Athena has a lot of functionality which is great for EMR and practice management and billing however, some spots could be easier to access information from the provider standpoint.

Pros

The EMR is intuitive and no nonsensical. It is easy to use. It is extremely transparent when it comes to billing. We have used the athena communicator for the patient portal and it has been a God sent. It saves us time and the patients love it. Since the implementation of the system our office is effient , organized and runs like a well oiled machine.

Cons

Nothing much. I think some of the cardiology templates could use improvement

Pros

It integrates with our billing service. It's very easy to attain meaningful use. Athena sorts incoming faxes, though often incorrectly or mislabeled. They have a helpful patient portal. It's easy for staff to learn.

Cons

The EHR is terrible. There's no flexibility. There aren't any specialty-specific features/functions or clinical analytics. Lab and test ordering are slow and cumbersome, as there is no name mapping to lab-specific code numbers (a physician must select different tests depending on which lab a patient goes to). Athena generates multiple duplicate copies of results in order to match results to orders; this results in an intolerable waste of a physician's time. It's very hard to review prior lab results. Tech support is arrogant; their answer has often been, "Well, that's how we decided to make it." Training is poor; once the product is implemented, the training ends.

Pros

After a month of training and learning a whole new approach to patient management I am pleased to say that I would recommend Athena to any practice that would like to improve efficiency and increase revenue. We would never go back to the old way of medical management after 6 months on Athena EHR.

Cons

As the clinic administrator and medical biller, I am have a key role in overall patient flow. The only negative I can give is that there is no way to view a patients e&m code history as I am coding the final billing slip. If there was a way that Athena can integrate a claim tab that in one click I could instantly view the patients claim history as I am finishing the current billing slip I think that would improve the overall system.
