Overall the decision to go with CF has been very positive. It has definitely made handling the large volume of customers much easier. The automated parts, like guest confirmations, has been time saving for sure. We do find the product set up with dates and times to be rather confusing and almost always involves support emails to get us sorted out. It would be great if this could be more intuitive. Also the option to handle retail items would be a huge asset. The only real negative is that I can't hide my financial reports from the front line staff. If I restrict this access it also restricts the reports they need to cash out at days end. I would consider switching off of CF if I was made an offer by a similar company who offers this feature. (I simply haven't looked yet, but plan to do a system review in the fall). Overall the support and features are worth the very reasonable price for what we find to be a stable system.

Pros

The ease of the real time online booking for our customers and the automated guest management functions

Cons

\-lacks basics like being able to hide financial reports from front line staff. -can't return partial funds to a credit card, must return full amount charged -managing AR/AP payments is confusing and a huge hassle -no way to visually separate products by time on the dashboard calendar (i.e.: afternoon tour from morning tour, etc, based on start time)

I just wanted to convey a HUGE THANK YOU! We did a data export from Checkfront for one of our routine procedures and noticed that the "End Time" data has been added to the "End Date" field for all Booking Index exports, as we requested in the Help system, and even on the screen displays. THANK YOU SO MUCH for doing this... it will be a huge boon for us in managing the resource usage for hourly bookings. Checkfront is absolutely central to our studio management here (https://www.urbanglass.org/studio). Now its very more valuable.

Pros

It's infinitely adaptable, and when faced with limitations, you bring them up with the support staff, and they will see to having the program modified.

Cons

Only that its real-life software, so perfection is still a ways off.

Overall, we're very happy with Checkfront. We recently looked for other solutions to see what was available on the market but we ended up sticking with Checkfront.

Pros

What we like most about Checkfront is that it is a multi-use tool. We find that there aren't a lot of solutions out there if you offer rooms AND tours.

Cons

It seems like they don't update it very often. The overall layout and design has been the same since 2015.

The customer service is great! Platform affordable! And possibilities almost endless!

Pros

As a new business I was looking for a platform that would show availability to customers and hold all my inventory. As far as price, they beat the competitors. I tried several platforms with their trial periods and checkfront won hands down. They set up an initial phone call to answer any questions you have and walk you through features. And even still after using for almost 2 year I find myself asking “what if I could do this?” Checkfront as a real-time instant message I visit frequently and typically they make that “what if” a reality.

Cons

For my business of rentals their platform is limited as far as design and image uploads. But overall minor detail in scope of what they are capable of.

The customer service is amazing. We love this product! So worth the investment. A GREAT value.

Pros

I love how much time this software has freed up for us. I have time in the evenings to be with my family again because it takes care of bookings for our vacation homes and for our excursions. There is very little follow up on my end but guests still get all their questions answered and feel very taken care of. It also has integrated beautifully into our website. In addition, we just keep discovering more amazing things it will do for us automatically. It's really made running our business so much more streamlined.

Cons

It's honestly pretty difficult to set up. It took me a long time to set it up on the back end so it would do what we needed it to do. But the customer service in walking me through this process was exceptional and the software can do so much. It just takes time figuring out how to set it up correctly.

Pros

Not as advanced as other booking softwares, Checkfront gets the job done if all you need to do is take customer details and control allocations. Customer service is top notch too.

Cons

Anything you need to do further, like API links to OTAs, are off-limits. The price is low, which is great, but there's a bit of "get what you pay for" going on here with the features list.

I chose Checkfront for my Virtual Reality Arcade business mostly because it is Canadian based and is one of a few companies that will bill me in CAN. I also chose it because they do not add a fee for each booking like many of the others do. That was important to me as I did not want my customers paying a 'booking fee'. The customer service has been EXCEPTIONAL!! all of my issues have been resolved and in a timely manner. They are super helpful.

Pros

I really appreciated that I am being billed in Canadian dollars rather than US dollars. I like how the plans are scalable. The functionality allows for many variables as well as e-Gift Certificates and many discount options. Integrates with Square and Quickbooks which is great for a small VR Arcade business.

Cons

The knowledge base is a little sparse so I had to contact them directly for several situations.

Accomodation and charterboat bookings. Nothing more fancy than that.

Pros

The stability, easy to use at a reasonable cost.

Cons

The Web GUI, it hasn't changed in 4 years, a lot of connections to different external suppliers that only apply to certain countries has been done but not a single change on the graphical and user interface on the web. Customers just don't find their way to pictures etc, it is too many clicks. Another really bad thing is that the staff interface does not show closures and other event on a item based level which means you sometimes miss vital information in the customer calendar view.

Responsive, responsive, responsive. If you have concerns they listen and work towards incorporating changes. It might not be today or tomorrow but over the past 6 years with Checkfront they've grown with us and expanded capabilities that helps us do more in less time.

Pros

Responsive product development team, easy to use, clean sexy interface, helps our business thrive.

Cons

Wish we could customize layouts more easily of the client facing invoices and forms.

We needed to integrate a simple booking widget on our custom-developed website -- Our website is fully developed, already integrated with advanced searches and complex structure, so we needed something that could be used as booking engine only and added to each individual tour page. Checkfront offers the use of a <iframe> widget that allows that. It's possible to customize the widget via css hower if you want full integration, you might want to consider the developer mode. There are some limitations in terms of settings and things you can tailor but overall it's a good product I wouldn't know about completely building a site with Checkfront, but to use it as booking engine in a fully developed site seems to be working alright for us.

Pros

The software is fairly easy to navigate and launch/integrate on your site.

Cons

As with any out-of-the-box software, there are some limitations and restrictions.

Excellent! I demoed 11 other booking softwares before i found Checkfront. This was the only one that could manage our complicated business structure and bookings. Some of the other softwares are massively over charging for there services. We feel we get value for money and a good product with Checkfront.

Pros

Clean, simple, easy to use. We were able to design the platform to our own complicated needs. Its intuitive and well designed. When we came across challenges, the support team are quick at responding, especially within work hours.

Cons

The cosmetic design is a little bland. Some of our less technologically inclined guests struggle to navigate the booking process. Some of the buttons on the invoice and through the booking process are not super obvious.

Customer service does not take calls (for Soho level account); however, they are very responsive via email and professional. We suggest things that would make the products better but there's no set deadline for improvements. We will change because we still do so much manually that could be done by a more complete program.

Pros

Inexpensive; good for basic day-tours; great payment integration including refunds. We liked the automated email reminders.

Cons

Impossible at the time of this review to allow participants to self-edit "participants information" after submitting it. Multi-day tours with hotels and rooming options are not handled well. They are missing the opportunity to serve tour operators focusing on day-activity providers. It saves some time, but not as much as it could.

Pros

I like how versatile it is, especially with a team who works from various locations across the globe. Organizing items and discounts are easy and efficient.

Cons

Overall this is a nice booking solution. I can recommend it. There must be a lot of work behind the scenes.

Pros

Provides 70% functionality what our business needs, which is way more then other solutions do. Automated payment gateways. Easily configurable. Quick response time from support. The functionality is getting better month by month.

Cons

Hacks needed to configure complex relationship, but you can use an item as a token to create the logics. Silly bugs. Sometimes easy win bugs are not corrected. Not that cheap. Only one currency can be used at a time.

Overall Checkfront has been a lifesaver to our business. Before we implemented our online booking, we were spending up to 20 hours a week chasing down phone calls, answering calls and physically running deposits through our POS. Now we are able to focus more on the customer experience.

Pros

I really liked how user friendly the software is. Even when I first started using it, it was intuitive to figure things out. If I didn't know how to do something, customer service was amazing in getting back to me with a solution, often the same day. They were very good at explaining how to do things in layman's terms.

Cons

The only negative is that we have two products we sell, birthday parties and summer camps. We have different rules for each that we list on the bottom of the invoice. There is no way to be able to "pick" which rules list we want to use, so we have to post both sets of rules to both items.

Useful, easy to deploy, value for money and well supported.

Pros

Of the SaaS components of our ecommerce setup, Checkfront has been the easiest to initiate, implement and manage. Likewise, support has been quick, effective and personable.

Cons

There is little to dislike about the software. The challenges is that this is a solution to many different variants of the event/item 'booking' challenge and as a result, it requires thought and hands on use to ensure effective configuration. Reporting is also a potential challenge as a result of the many business perspectives that can/need to be covered.

Pros

Checkfront pricing plan is set, not commission based. Strong levels of support, can ask directly to support team. It works. Minimal down time and easy to access customer information, bookings.

Cons

Cannot display prices in customer native currency. The backend process of entering event based pricing is slow, no function to upload CSV file. Customer side booking page could be smoother in regard to flow, display of addition of options.

Pros

Checkfront exceed my expectations! Everything was very simple to set up, and any doubt during the setup process most of the times is well clear in the knowledge base articles. For an off the self-software program it is the top in the market, believe it because I tested 3 before taking this decision to go ahead with Checkfront.

Cons

The only thing for me that needs to be improved is the support times available due to the time differences between Portugal and the United States. But the times of response are top, maximum 12 hours.

Checkfront is such a friendly business. We are in Victoria where they are located so are able to have a great personal relationship with them all.

Pros

Tis software is by far the most versatile we have used and never lets us down. Anything we think we need to do Checkfront handles it. Their online help and service is quick and simple always resolving our issue we may have right away.

Cons

To be honest, we don't have any con's. Having a mobile version lets me keep up with everything while on the go away from my desk.
