Pros: APS made the transition easy. We appreciate the options to see and adjust employee information as needed.

Cons: The standard reports are not always what I need. And the report builder is clunky and difficult to use for me.

Overall: We gained the ability to see and adjust employee information in real time.

Aesthetically unpleasing and can't wait to change

Comments: We wanted a system that employees could use but it's not intuitive and not visually pleasing. The onboarding process was painful for system setup, so we never subjected our employees to it.

Pros: The only thing I really liked was that they handled tax payments for me. Otherwise, it took absolutely nothing off my plate that I didn't already do with Quickbooks Payroll.

Cons: The system doesn't send reminders to run payroll. APS has emailed me a reminder AFTER the direct deposit cutoff. Not easily integrated with Quickbooks. I use several robust software systems and this is the worst and least intuitive. I've been waiting out the year so I can switch to another company. I'm on my third customer service rep and they each seem unhappier than the last.

I am getting a lot of peace of mind being a APS customer

Pros: The overall support and features in the software makes payroll very easy, the customer support for a issue is very well structured, that is there is one account manager for my account

Cons: Have to search some of the reports that i need to since there a some many. The report sections can be redesigned to make it user friendly

Overall: It makes payroll a breeze as well as accurate, less headaches from the Government regarding taxes being over or under paid, and APS takes care of the necessary regulations for payroll. The account managers is hands on for all the issues i have pertaining to payroll

Pros: Excellent customer service and speedy payroll processing. The reps resolve issues immediately. They are very responsive. Payroll processing is a breeze and seamless.

Cons: Payroll imports could use improvement as well as employee self serve. I've had issues setting up the GL templates and getting them to import properly into clients Accounting system. I've also had issues with employees being able to access their APS account online.

Lots of functionality and service for NOT a lot of money

Pros: While working on implementation, I was amazed at all the options and possible ways I could setup our account. Completely scalable to meet any company needs regardless of size. Reporting options are extremely comprehensive but if they don't have what you need, you can use Report Builder and make your own report. Employees love it because they can obtain their own credentials to gain access to their private payroll information. From there, they can update address, W2, etc, or just see their paystubs. APS also tracks in/out times for non-exempt employees.

Overall: It saved me time doing payroll and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Pros: I like that it's very easy to use. The setup help when we first implemented was fantastic. It has been a time saver.

Cons: The reports are not easily manipulated and often has rounding issues, which can make reconciling harder.

Pros: extremely cost effective super helpful staff if and when any issues arise and such a relief that APS handle all regulatory requirements

Pros: Office employees are able to clock in and out, request time off electronically and receive approval electronically.

Cons: For this software to allow the field employees to clock in using a job name. We are a subcontractor organization and our field employees clock into the jobs they are working on. Also, it would be beneficial if once the time is captured in APS that the hours could be uploading in Workflow Max the hours worked on each job.

Overall: The software has been great capturing the time of most of our employees without myself having to manually input. The ability to customize our vacation and PTO benefits for our employees. Once the payroll has been processed, APS takes care of direct deposits, filing taxes, creating checks to be printed for live checks and deductions. Employees being able to access their information online without having to request myself to make the updates. Having mobile clock in and outs.

Pros: I like that APS is user friendly. The support staff is great and quick to respond to any questions or issues. I especially like Doc Vault where I can quickly get to important reports.

Cons: Creating a custom report isn't extremely easy when the information pulls from more than one module.

Pros: The reporting aspect of the program is wonderful. Lots of canned reports and an easy setup for custom reports. The tax reconciliation is a breeze. Worker's comp tracking is also a feature we like because we did not have that with our last payroll provider.

Cons: Font size for the screen has to be set at a small size to fully show how the screen is supposed to look.

Overall: Better tax reporting, more comprehensive reports and benefit tracking.

Pros: Admin screen is easily customizable and time entry is a breeze. APS handles all tax forms and payments┬┐all I have to do is print the reports.

Cons: Having to go through security features in place for larger companies slows me down a bit, though I realize they are necessary.

Pros: We were able to integrate HR, timekeeping, and payroll in one streamlined process. The customer service in the transition and ongoing has been outstanding!

Cons: We had also hoped to use APS recruiting and onboarding. However, once we were developing those modules for our purposes, we realized our prior software was more robust.

Pros: I really love the personal touch that you get with APS. After the implementation, I was assigned an account manager, who's direct line I have. If I have any questions or issues at all, I pick up the phone and call my account manager directly who will help me...there's no call center or auto attendants to fight through to speak to anyone.

Cons: My only complaint about APS would be with the report builder. It is a bit cumbersome and I find it doesn't always give me the information I need.

Overall: I really like that using APS is as simple as it can be. Running payroll every other week is quick and seamless. I also love that they take care of filing and paying payroll taxes on my behalf. That service in itself pays for itself.

Pros: They write the checks along with figuring the taxes. The W-2s are always ready by the middle of January to be picked up

Comments: Of all the systems we evaluated, APS had a format that matched what we needed at a great value.

Pros: Easier input of information which cuts down on the time I spend on payroll. Also, employees can get their stubs online.

Cons: Changes from our original setup sometimes take a little while, but we get a quick response from our customer rep.

The use of APS has streamlined the payroll and human resource paperwork process for the company.

Pros: I like the online features so staff can submit payroll anywhere and anytime. Also having all the information in one place so staff can review information without needing to involve others.

Cons: They have not been able to add Alaska as a time zone for the time clock. It seems to me to be a pretty simple fix.

Comments: Have already referred to another HR professional.

Pros: For the most part very easy to use. Good value for the cost and support provided is well above average.

Cons: Some functions do not work as smoothly as hoped (ATS in particular and some of the Reporting). Have to remember additional steps versus some "auto functions".

The best thing is the customer service. The system is easy to learn and works for what we need.

Pros: I like the customer service and how quickly I can get assistance or answers when needed. Once the system is learned, it can be operated with ease.

Cons: I think there are other systems that are more advance, although as I said before this works fine for what we use it for.

Pros: Everything we need is in one package. I think the reporting capabilities are excellent (especially the report builder). All of the standard functions (employee additions, maintenance, documentation...) are reasonably straightforward to use.

Cons: Some of the advanced features can take a little time to learn. Love the report builder, but took a bit to get the hang of it.

Overall: The single biggest benefit was efficiency in our time-keeping and payroll administration processes. Better reporting has enabled us to make better decisions.

Pros: Customer support is on point, the software is easy to use and to navigate, and the cost savings made sense for us.

Cons: The implementation process could have went smoother but partially this is due to our CPA office data that was provided.

Pros: The software is user friendly. Retrieving documents such as W2s & tax documents can be retrieved easily. It is a big deal for us to be able to access historical data.

Cons: We are not able to delete or make change to a payroll batch which can be somewhat an inconvenience.

Pros: Options for managing Medical Benefits and credentials. The customer service dept is friendly and tries to help wherever they can

Pros: ease of use - Payroll entered and processed correctly in under 5 minutes. Reports are easy to generate. Customer support is very responsive - even sending personal reminders.

Cons: It's a great platform as is; however, website can be refreshed a bit. More intuitive workflow patterns can also help.

Pros: We can migrate our scheduling software hours and pay for payroll. The customer service is good except they close 3 hours before we do.

Cons: It needs a Tab for each employee for their paystub history. The Benefit Enrollment or Opt Out process needs to be simplified. There needs to be a Check Calculator for Net to Gross not just Gross to Net.

Overall: We can migrate our scheduling software hours and pay for payroll. The customer service is good except they close 3 hours before we do.

Pros: APS has unlimited resources and reports and the customer service if great. It has safety nets during the payroll process that makes mistakes virtually impossible.

Cons: Occasionally the system slows down on the processing speed. The speed is generally back up and going within a couple of hours.

We have been with the company for almost 7 years. Above all the customer support you receive is fantastic. During our tenure with the company we have had a few different reps due to promotions, but each one has done a phenomenal job. They always return phone calls and emails in a very timely manner, they troubleshoot issues immediately and have even helped process payroll for us when our payroll manager was out with the flu.

Cons: The only issue we run into is transferring employees from one location to another. Currently, if an employee transfers to a new location there are multiple steps needed to transfer that employee's profile. The employee must be terminated in one location, and then all information must be re-entered in the new location. It would be ideal if we could transfer an employee without having to terminate and duplicate the profile in the new location.

Pros: APS is very user friendly. Also easy to upload my timesheets from Excel to APS, which eliminates errors. Great customer service. Updated frequently adding more options for users. Exporting reports to excel is very simple.

Cons: Almost all of the reports I generate for payroll I do not have any problems with. However; the only real con I have is when creating reports, I cannot chose how I want the columns listed.

Cons: The only thing I really don't like about the APS software is that I can't submit my timesheet directly from the website - I have to use eSelfServe.

Pros: My client was able to use APS to manage both independent contractors as well as employees on direct deposit.

Cons: I felt that it was more than he needed for his small company but it did not create any problems for his payroll needs. Sometimes it was hard to locate the reports I needed for review.

Pros: We really like the fact that you can upload a file of employee punches. APS worked with us to make sure that all of our file worked with their system.

Pros: I love the ability to track daily hours, time off requests, etc., so that I don't have to wait until paper timesheets are turned in at the end of the payroll period.

Cons: Some of our employees have had issues with clocking in/out on eselfserve. There is also an issue with them being able to clock in/out with their mobile phones, even though they have been granted access to do so.

Pros: APS is easy to use. It's intuitive, so I had no problems setting up new employees or running payroll. I like that I can quickly schedule payroll each month and don't have to worry about it. The customer service is fantastic! Any time I have a question, my rep gets back to me right away. She has even sent me reminders if I don't have payroll set up at my usual time.

Pros: It is mostly easy for employees to see how to enter and submit their hours. We do a payroll 2 times a month. Customer support has been good.

Cons: When trying to do something a little different or pull reports that are not regular, its hard to find where to go to accomplish that. Often when I get the path, I think " O I never would have tried that spot". so......reports could be more user friendly and more specific to what you actually do in that place.

Comments: APS was recommended to me from another company, I was a little skeptical to try it, but I am very glad we did. We have had great customer service from day one! The program was easy to learn.

Pros: The ability to adapt to our specific time needs. Also the ability to have multiple users according to specific pay groups. Reporting is also very user friendly.

Cons: The only con we have is remembering to refresh the screen often. Printing some reports are also a little difficult with Windows 10, but it seems they are always working on trying to improve the printing.

Pros: Clean and user-friendly interface that manages all the intricacies necessary for our company. Reporting tool manages to create great looking PDF reports and provides an extremely wide range of topics and pre-loaded report templates.

Pros: What I like most about this product is how everything I need is available at any time I need it as well as being very easy to navigate on the site once logged in. It is very user-friendly and helpful with all needs that I may have as well as requests needed for employees. It is as easy as logging onto the site and clicking two to three times to get exactly what I need. I have had to run reports for myself for office functions as well as a request from an employee and it is always very easy and helpful. I believe we get our money worth by using this product on a weekly basis. It seems to fit all our needs as a company and my needs as an administrator. I have had to call on our account manager a few times and when doing so, every time she has been extremely helpful and efficient in helping me find and get what I need to be done. The quality that this software offers us as a company is hands down the best I have ever had. I have worked with APS for several years now. At one time I processed payroll with APS for about 1500 people bi-weekly and I now do it weekly for about 10. So whether you have 1500 or 10 people to conduct a payroll for weekly or biweekly, APS has made it very efficient and easy to navigate their product and easy to search and find exactly the reports needed. I look forward to watching them grow while we grow and using them now and in our future. There would be no other company that I feel could compare to or offer what APS has been able to do for us. The BEST quality!! From the site to the account manager, they have not only met but exceeded our expectations.

Pros: The customer service at APS is unmatched! We have been extremely happy with the product as well as the service we have received since day one. From APS' sales team to implementation, to the tax department, to our account managers--we have been pleased with the ease of being customers!

Pros: Easy to use software. The support I receive from our account rep is great. They are always quick to respond and have an answer.

Cons: I wish that there were some more intuitive features, like a customization person page so I can see the information that matters to me quickly. Other things that would be great would be an easy to use "paycheck calculator", as I have staff coming up to me asking me all the time "If I make X change, how does that affect Y"

Cons: I wish the canned reports could be edited to add or delete information so that you didn't have to create a report from scratch to get the exact information that you need.

Pros: It is very easy to use. I like the ability to add and change details regarding employees without having to jump through hoops. The reporting feature also helps out a lot.

Cons: The website tends to run very sluggish. It also logs you out after a short period of time. This feature was not present when we purchased the product one year ago.

Pros: It keeps track of all of our payroll and HR functions. Our customer support person is always there to help.

Cons: I would like to be able to open more than one tab at a time. I may need an employee's personal info and also need to run a report on their income for a portion of the year.

Overall: This program works very well with our unusual payroll. It keeps with with all our payroll and HR needs.

Pros: It is very user-friendly. It is easy to manage. It is the best software that I have worked with in my HR and Payroll positions.

Cons: The time needed to implement the software; however, you would get this with any software changes. It is definitely worth it, especially for the customization.

Overall: It is user-friendly and the staff loves it. Everything is located in one place and easy to find.

Pros: Everything is in once place. Payroll, reviews, goals, employee events, employee documentation. It's all in one place and available for the employee, manager, and HR to review when needed.

Cons: Auditing vacation or personal time is not easy. The audit requires multiple reports and those reports do not download using same format for easy combining of info. For instance, one report may show employee name as Doe, Jane (####). The next report may show the employee name as Doe Jane. When using formulas in Excel, your common denominator is your name. But if the name does not report in the same format on both reports, you cannot combine. The reports I am speaking of are already setup reports. I did also setup my own reports, but they reported the same way. This is one example of several that the formatting doesn't report the same.

Overall: Having all employee information available quickly both to employee and manager.

Pros: Easy and intuitive. Most everything is easily accessible and doesn't take long to figure out and if you do need help they offer such great support you'd think it was an internal department of your company.

Cons: It can be cumbersome to use if you are not at the same machine each time. You are required to verify and register each device (even browser) used.

Overall: Easy payroll management, electronic pay-stubs, HR resources, hiring and on-boarding site, payroll tax filing.

Comments: APS OnLine does a good job delivering enterprise-style HR software functionality to an SMB customer. However there's some complexity involved there and the price can move up quickly depending on the features you need.

Pros: Sophisticated configurability. Built-in payroll is a core offering. User-friendly touches throughout.

Cons: Separate portals for system administrators and employees. Lacks a news feed. More expensive than many other SMB-oriented competitors.

Pros: All of the figures are accurately depicted so I know exactly where my money goes. I am able to clearly see my statements as well as taxes.

Cons: I do not have any cons on the web version of the site. As for the phone application it can be difficult to link at first.

Pros: Customer support is great. Fairly easy to use. I like that we can store documents like our Associate Manual on the system for employees to review.

Cons: It should not be so difficult to pull a Gross Wage report on employees. I would think that is a report that almost everyone needs from time to time. HR and benefits need to have more features available.

Overall: Reduce cost from ADP. Also a dedicated account representative that is familiar with our business.

Pros: I love the ability to manage benefits for employees. Goodbye to the paper lists and trying to track people down! Employees can select options via the "eselfserve" portal and I have all of my enrollment and opt-out information maintained in one spot.

Cons: By our own choice, we provide payroll options to our employees that make it difficult sometimes to manage when there are multiple options for one employee. It gets tricky and we sometimes have to add codes, but APS really strives to help us with these payroll complexities.

Pros: It has everything you need for payroll, time tracking, accruals and reports. Our hourly employees find it easy to log in and out. It allows for accruals of many different types of time (sick, vaca, personal leave, comp time, etc.) I can run payroll reports of my own design.

Overall: Tax filing, time tracking for employees, reporting. I spend little time dealing with payroll.

Pros: Ease of use. Reports for everything. Any problem I have is quickly resolved by customer support, even when the problem is often my own doing .

Cons: Wish I could figure out rate of pay change report, but I bet it's there I just haven't found it.

Pros: APS is a growing business and their customer service and adaptability works well with our growing agency

Cons: APS has no plans to help clients with project management tracking of payroll-related costs, an increasing need for us.

Overall: Affordable alternative to the major payroll processing companies, that didn't charge us every time we had a request.

Comments: Overall, it takes the grunt work out of processing payroll.

Pros: Very simple to navigate. Nice to have a place for employees to log in and view their information. Complex tax filings are handled for us.

Cons: Does not fully customize to create the level of detail we need on payroll journal entries. There are still some manual processes that must take place which we'd prefer to be automated.

Comments: I like the ease of the training as it is done in steps, which really helps you take it all in. I think the layout of the website could be a little more friendly as sometime you have to look around to find where data is located.

Pros: The ability to merge HR / Payroll / Insurance all into one system. They have a great training system.

Cons: There is no mobile app though you can log into their web site via mobile. The app would make it more friendly to use. At this time they can not import data from files to documents so that it is automatically populated, also the employee can only electronically sign the form but cannot add any information to the form.

Comments: We've been using APS for 2 years. It's easy to add employees, change their deductions and monitor their hours and PTO. Employees like the ease of a web-based timekeeping system. Customer service is always polite and very responsive.

Pros: Easy to use, changes update automatically. Web-based so employees at multiple sites can always access it to enter time or view paystubs. Customer service has been great.

Cons: Employees would like a little more access to update bank account information and deductions.

Recommendations to other buyers: Great value for a small company, it's easy to use and having an integrated payroll and time-keeping keeping system saves time and energy.
