Arlington, VA — Capterra, an online service that connects buyers and sellers of business software, launched its first infographic this week: The Top 20 Most Popular Marketing Automation Software Solutions. The infographic is a slight departure from the company's previous stance that buyers should simply ignore rankings, focus completely on the best fit for their company, and not worry about who's "most popular" overall.
"I still stand behind that original thought," says Capterra CEO, Michael Ortner. "But we can't ignore human nature. Many buyers like to start the process by knowing who the leaders are. So we'll tell them who the leading vendors are in an unbiased way before leading them down the path to a fully informed decision."
The infographic ranks Eloqua, Infusionsoft and HubSpot as the overall most popular solutions. The popularity index is based on several data points, including: number of customers, number of users, revenue, Google searches, Twitter followers and Alexa rankings, and Compete traffic measurements. This is the first time Capterra has ever released popularity rankings for any of its 360 software categories.
"If this information turns out to be useful to buyers, we'll absolutely do popularity rankings for other types of software," Ortner said. "But I can't stress enough how important it is to look at your company's specific needs. What works for your friend's business could turn out to be disastrous for yours."
