Arlington, VA — Capterra, an online service that connects buyers and sellers of business software, launched its first medical infographic this week: The Top 20 Most Popular EMR Solutions. The infographic ranks eClinicalWorks, McKesson and Cerner as the top three most popular solutions. The popularity index took several data points into account, including: number of customers, number of users, revenue, Google searches, Alexa rankings, Compete traffic measurements, social media followers and product reviews.
"With hundreds of solutions available, doctors always want to know which one is most popular," says Capterra CEO, Michael Ortner. "We've always said `ignore the rankings and focus on the best fit for your practice,' but, if popularity is important to buyers, we'll give them the rankings¿ along with additional info that will help them make a better decision." That additional data includes platform and pricing information along with the most commonly requested features.
"Just because your friend who works at the hospital down the street is using a certain EMR solution, doesn't mean it will work for your solo practice," Ortner said. "In fact, it probably won't. The needs of those different organizations are usually very different, which means so is the software they should use."
EMR software helps manage the creation, storage and retrieval of electronic clinical records. EMR is a popular software category, especially since the U.S. Government has mandated that all medical facilities use electronic medical records by the end of 2014. Medical practitioners can find and compare a comprehensive list of solutions in Capterra's EMR Directory.
