## Methodology

## Capterra's 2026 Software Buying Trends Report

### Download our 2026 Software Buying Trends Report to see how successful software adopters avoid disappointment and how your business can, too.

* * *

To be considered for this report, products had to meet both our LMS software market definition and our review count minimum.

- **LMS software market definition:** In order to be considered an LMS software system, products must have course management and learner tracking functionality. Any LMS systems that cater solely to academic institutions were removed from consideration.

- **Review count minimum:** Products had to have 20 or more unique reviews over the past two years, from 1/23/18 to 1/23/20.

From there, the five products with the highest average overall user rating were selected for inclusion.
