4\. Type the following information—as appropriate—in the Signature Setup box pop-up window:

-   Name of the suggested signer
    
-   Title and position of the suggested signer
    
-   Email address of the suggested signer

You may also add instructions to the signer and check boxes that will: 1) Allow the signer to add comments and 2) Show the sign date in the signature line.

5\. To finish adding the signature line, click OK.

## How to add a handwritten signature in Word

If you want to insert a signature in Word instead of a signature line, you may wish to use your handwritten signature. Note that you may need a scanner, a high-resolution camera, or a document scanner mobile application. Here are the steps on how to sign a Word document using your handwritten signature:

1\. Legibly write your signature on a piece of blank paper.

2\. Scan the signed page using a scanner, take a photo of it, or use a document scanner application. Save or send it to your device in one of these standard file formats: .jpg, .png, or .bmp. Take note of where you saved this specific file.

3\. Open your Word document. To open the image file, click “Insert” at the top menu and select “Pictures” in the “Illustrations” section.

4\. Assess whether you need to crop your signature's excess background.
