**TL;DR:** _In this article, I share my picks for the 10 best salon booking software platforms, evaluated on scheduling, payments, marketing, and staff management, based on 2,015 verified Capterra reviews from September 2024 to September 2026._

I analyzed 2,015 Capterra reviews across the 10 [salon software](https://www.capterra.com/salon-software/) platforms below to evaluate scheduling, payments, marketing, and staff management. Customer support turned out to be the single most-repeated theme across the dataset, cited as the top reason for staying with both Mangomint (48 of 208 reviews) and Pabau (42 of 239). Before ranking any product, I checked the underlying data for accuracy: no exact-duplicate reviews were found across the 10 products, and no franchise or single-business concentration skewed any product's sample. One small overlap did surface: two WellnessLiving reviews, attributed to different businesses, shared identical wording in their pros section. Both were kept, since both accounts appear genuine, but it's worth flagging for transparency.

Choosing salon software usually comes down to one tension: tools built for enterprise spa chains rarely fit a solo stylist, and tools built for independents rarely scale to a five-location group. Several tools on this list (Acuity Scheduling, Mindbody, WellnessLiving, and When I Work) are also used well beyond the salon industry; their review bases span broader scheduling, wellness, and workforce-management markets, which is worth keeping in mind when weighing their salon-specific feedback against tools built exclusively for salons.

The 10 products below are evaluated on scheduling, payments, marketing, and staff management, and on how consistently each one performs the function it's built for.

_Products are listed alphabetically. Inclusion is based on the methodology at the bottom of this article._

Quick take

Acuity Scheduling stands out for bundling forms, deposits, and payment processing into every plan with no upsells. Booksy Biz pairs scheduling with a consumer-facing marketplace app for new-client discovery. GlossGenius is the highest-rated pick for solo stylists and boutique studios running their business from a phone. Mangomint posts the highest overall rating of the 10 and leads on automated marketing flows and support. Mindbody trades some polish for the broadest marketplace reach and cross-location reporting. Pabau is the strongest fit for medical spas and clinic-style salons that need consent forms and patient records. Vagaro is trusted by more than 220,000 beauty and wellness professionals and bundles a 24/7 marketplace with scheduling. WellnessLiving is built for studios running classes and memberships alongside individual appointments. When I Work is a staff-scheduling tool salons use alongside a booking platform, at the lowest price on this list. ZENOTI is built for larger, multi-location salon and spa chains that need enterprise-level reporting.

## **How I chose this list**

To build this list, I selected products based on the following criteria:

- **Review volume:** Have a minimum overall rating of 4.0 and carry at least 20 reviews in the last 24 months.

- **Data integrity:** Have a review set that holds up under a duplicate and templated-content check. No exact-duplicate reviews were found across the 10 products. One near-duplicate pair surfaced for WellnessLiving (two reviews, attributed to different businesses, with identical pros text), and both were retained since both accounts appear to be genuine, distinct customers.

- **Genuine reviewer authorship:** Checked each product's review set for single-business or franchise concentration that could skew its themes. None of the 10 showed meaningful concentration; the largest share from any single company was five of 239 reviews (Pabau).

Products are listed alphabetically, not ranked by score, since the right platform depends more on your team size, service mix, and whether you need marketplace-driven client discovery than on a small difference in overall rating. Full details are in the methodology section at the bottom of this article.

### 1\. Acuity Scheduling: best for all-inclusive appointment booking without upsells

_Appointment reports, Revenue reports, intake forms, and add-on reports in Acuity (Source:_ [_Capterra_](https://www.capterra.com/p/191978/Acuity-Scheduling/)_)_

[Acuity Scheduling'](https://www.capterra.com/p/191978/Acuity-Scheduling/)s reviewer base spans far beyond salons, from consultants to project managers, but the businesses that do use it for booking consistently point to the same thing: everything from forms to payments comes bundled into every plan, with no paid add-ons required to unlock core functionality.

**Why users like it:**

- Self-service booking that lets clients book directly, cutting out back-and-forth emails and phone tag, came up in 10 of 142 reviews.

- Automated email and text reminders and confirmations were the most-repeated theme, showing up in 25 of 142 reviews.

#### Trial/Free Version

- Free Trial
- Free Version

#### Device Compatibilty

**Key features:**

- **Calendar-first scheduling:** clients book directly against real-time availability, with buffer times and per-staff appointment types.

- **All-inclusive plan structure:** forms, deposit requests, and payment processing are bundled into every plan rather than sold as paid add-ons.

- **Automated reminders:** email and text confirmations reduce no-shows without manual follow-up.

- **40+ native integrations:** including QuickBooks and major calendar and payment tools, per its [Capterra product page](https://www.capterra.com/p/191978/Acuity-Scheduling/).

**Limitations to know:**

- Some features, like advanced reporting or deeper customization, sit behind higher-priced plans, coming up in seven of 142 reviews.

_Limitations data for Acuity Scheduling in this dataset was concentrated on a single theme and no second limitation reached a reportable pattern._

**What a verified Capterra reviewer says:**

“My favorite feature is that I can set specific appointment times on my availability calendar such as 10a, 1pm, 3:30p. I love that it's all inclusive. All the features are included in the plan. I can add forms, deposit requests and payment processing at no additional fee. It was also easy to sync my calendar. I never experienced any bugs or operating issues.”

Jennifer Dodds, Owner, The Nail Rume, April 2026

**Where it stands:** Self-service booking and automated reminders are what reviewers highlight most, and the all-inclusive plan structure means solo stylists and small studios get forms, deposits, and payments without upsells. Budget for a tier upgrade if you need deeper reporting, but for the all-inclusive booking, forms, and payments most solo stylists and small studios need day to day, the base plan already delivers.

**Bottom line**: Acuity Scheduling is useful if you are trying to run calendar-first appointment booking with forms, deposits, and payments bundled into one plan. Reviewers rank its ease of use and responsive support highly, noting that every core feature comes standard without upsells. This tool works especially well with solo stylists and small studios, although it's important to be mindful that it doesn't handle built-in POS or retail inventory natively.

### 2\. Booksy Biz: best for marketplace-driven client discovery

_From solo operations to multi-service salons into a single, easy-to-use platform in Booksy Biz (Source:_ [_Capterra_](https://www.capterra.com/p/142741/Booksy/)_)_

[Booksy Biz](https://www.capterra.com/p/142741/Booksy/) pairs standard salon scheduling with a large, consumer-facing marketplace app, and its reviewer base is dominated by solo stylists and small salons using that marketplace to win new clients rather than just manage existing ones.

#### Trial/Free Version

- Free Trial
- Free Version

#### Device Compatibilty

**Why users like it:**

- Keeping the booking calendar organized for both the business and its clients came up in 12 of 120 reviews.

- Tap-to-pay and automated reminders that save time day to day were mentioned in eight of 120 reviews.

**Key features:**

- **Marketplace listing:** a client-facing listing that surfaces your business to Booksy's app users searching nearby.

- **24/7 self-service online booking:** clients book anytime without calling or emailing.

- **Automated SMS/email reminders:** plus two-way client messaging.

- **Tap-to-pay processing:** integrated in-person payment processing and payout reporting.

**Limitations to know:**

- The Boost promotion program, which takes a cut of new-client bookings, was the most-repeated complaint, coming up in 18 of 120 reviews.

_Limitations data for Booksy Biz in this dataset was concentrated on a single theme and no second limitation reached a reportable pattern._

**What a verified Capterra reviewer says:**

“I love that Booksy Biz makes scheduling extremely easy and fast for both clients and business owners. The interface is intuitive, clients receive reminders, and the booking process saves me a lot of time every day. It keeps my schedule organized and helps reduce no-shows. Overall, it simplifies my daily operations significantly.”

Emely Cieza, Cosmetologist, Eme, November 2025

**Where it stands:** The marketplace listing and organized booking calendar are genuine draws for solo stylists and small salons trying to win new clients in dense urban markets. The Boost program is worth weighing against your margins, since it's the most-repeated complaint in this dataset, but for salons that lack marketplace visibility today, that trade-off buys real new-client reach.

**Bottom line**: Booksy Biz is useful if you are trying to run online booking alongside a consumer-facing marketplace for new-client discovery. Reviewers rank how organized the booking calendar keeps their day highly, noting that clients rebook with ease through the app. This tool works especially well with solo stylists and small salons in dense urban markets, although it's important to be mindful of the roughly $30/month cost plus payout transaction fees, and that clients must download an app to book.

### 3\. GlossGenius: best for mobile-first solo and boutique studios

GlossGenius automates online booking, scheduling, payment processing and POS, marketing, client and staff management, and payroll, all in one intelligent system with a suite of AI teammates (Source: [Capterra](https://www.capterra.com/p/174830/GlossGenius/))

[GlossGenius](https://www.capterra.com/p/174830/GlossGenius/) is the highest-rated tool on this list for solo stylists and boutique studios, and its reviewer base skews heavily toward independent beauty professionals running their business entirely from a phone.

#### Trial/Free Version

- Free Trial
- Free Version

#### Device Compatibilty

**Why users like it:**

- Fast, easy client-facing online booking came up in 10 of 291 reviews.

- Built-in payment processing, including same-day deposits, was mentioned in seven of 291 reviews.

**Key features:**

- **Mobile-first booking:** fast, mobile-native booking and calendar management built for independent stylists.

- **Built-in payment processing:** with same-day deposits.

- **Package and membership sales tools:** help stylists build recurring revenue.

- **Access Controls/Permissions:** a capability reviewers highlight for salons bringing on booth renters or additional staff.

**Limitations to know:**

- Gift card functionality that lacks clear in-app guidance was the most-repeated limitation, coming up in 20 of 291 reviews.

_Limitations data for GlossGenius in this dataset was concentrated on a single theme and no second limitation reached a reportable pattern._

**What a verified Capterra reviewer says:**

“What I love most about GlossGenius is how it makes me feel like a true CEO. From seamless booking to payment processing and client communication, everything is streamlined in one place. It allows me to focus on delivering premium service while the backend runs smoothly. It's not just a booking app, it's my business partner.”

Briana Norflet, Hair Stylist, Nyce N Chic, February 2026

**Where it stands:** Ease of use and built-in payment processing are what reviewers consistently point to, and the mobile-first design fits how independent stylists actually run their business. Gift card functionality is worth testing directly if that's part of your client experience, but for the mobile-first booking and payment experience most solo stylists need, GlossGenius remains the top-rated pick on this list.

**Bottom line**: GlossGenius is useful if you are trying to run fast, mobile-first booking with built-in payment processing and same-day deposits. Reviewers rank its ease of use and value highly, noting how well it handles packages and keeps their business organized. This tool works especially well with solo stylists and small boutique studios, although it's important to be mindful that its feature set is built around solo and boutique use, so larger multi-location operations may outgrow it.

### 4\. Mangomint: best for all-around scheduling, payments, and support

Next generation features like client self check-in and checkout (Source: [Capterra](https://www.capterra.com/p/187593/Mangomint/))

[Mangomint](https://www.capterra.com/p/187593/Mangomint/) posts the highest overall rating of any tool in this list, and its reviewer base spans salons and spas of every size, with support quality standing out as the single most-repeated theme.

#### Trial/Free Version

- Free Trial
- Free Version

#### Device Compatibilty

**Why users like it:**

- Customer support quality was the most-repeated theme by a wide margin, showing up in 48 of 208 reviews.

- A user-friendly interface for both staff and clients came up in 37 of 208 reviews.

**Key features:**

- **Automated marketing flows:** appointment reminders, review requests, birthday messages, and rebooking campaigns.

- **Multi-staff scheduling:** smooth scheduling and appointment management across multiple staff and rooms.

- **Integrated payment processing:** built to replace a standalone POS system.

- **Access Controls/Permissions:** a capability reviewers highlight for salons managing multiple staff tiers.

**Limitations to know:**

- Some features and add-ons cost extra beyond the base plan, coming up in seven of 208 reviews.

_Limitations data for Mangomint in this dataset was concentrated on a single theme and no second limitation reached a reportable pattern._

**What a verified Capterra reviewer says:**

“The absolute best thing about this company is their customer service! They are so responsive, so fast and they always help me find a resolution to any question or issue! They also genuinely use feedback and make updates to their systems based on user feedback! I will continue to use Mangomint forever or as long as they'll be around! 100% recommend using Mangomint for your salon or spa booking software!”

Hayley Weaver, Massage Therapist & Spa Owner, Canyon Shire Spa + Wellness, August 2026

**Where it stands:** Mangomint posts the highest overall rating on this list, and customer support is by far its most-repeated strength: reviewers credit the team specifically when switching from other platforms. A few extras sit outside the base plan, but with the highest overall rating on this list and support reviewers consistently credit by name, it's a strong pick for salons and spas of any size.

**Bottom line**: Mangomint is useful if you are trying to run scheduling, payments, and staff management from a single, highly polished platform. Reviewers rank its automated marketing flows and support quality highly, noting significant time savings on reminders, follow-ups, and review requests. This tool works especially well with salons and spas of any size, although it's important to be mindful of its per-location pricing.

### 5\. Mindbody: best for marketplace reach across wellness businesses

From booking and scheduling to client and staff management, automated marketing and in-depth reporting to integrated payments and lead management, in SmartDesk (Source: [Capterra](https://www.capterra.com/p/40229/MINDBODY/))

[Mindbody's](https://www.capterra.com/p/40229/MINDBODY/) reviewer base is the broadest of any tool on this list, spanning fitness studios, gyms, and wellness businesses well beyond salons, and its marketplace app for client discovery is the clearest differentiator reviewers point to.

#### Trial/Free Version

- Free Trial
- Free Version

#### Device Compatibilty

**Why users like it:**

- Customer and tech support came up in 15 of 204 reviews.

- Centralizing class and appointment booking across studios was mentioned in 13 of 204 reviews.

**Key features:**

- **Class and appointment scheduling:** built to serve both salons and broader wellness businesses under one system.

- **Marketplace app:** a large consumer-facing marketplace for client discovery.

- **Membership and retail tools:** membership, package, and retail point-of-sale tools.

- **Cross-location reporting:** business reporting across multiple locations.

**Limitations to know:**

- Extra transaction fees and paid add-ons came up in nine of 204 reviews.

_Limitations data for Mindbody in this dataset was concentrated on a single theme and no second limitation reached a reportable pattern._

**What a verified Capterra reviewer says:**

“I've had a really great experience using the Mindbody app. It's super easy to navigate, and booking or rescheduling appointments only takes a few seconds. I also love that clients can book online themselves, it makes things so much easier for everyone. Overall, it just makes my day run smoother.”

Aubrey Golden, Receptionist, The Lash Lounge, November 2025

**Where it stands:** Mindbody's marketplace reach and cross-location reporting are real advantages for multi-location wellness businesses that need them. Confirm transaction fees and paid add-ons up front, but for multi-location wellness businesses that need marketplace reach and cross-location reporting in one system, Mindbody's breadth is hard to match.

**Bottom line**: Mindbody is useful if you are trying to run class and appointment scheduling alongside a large consumer-facing marketplace for client discovery. Reviewers rank its marketplace reach and cross-location reporting highly, noting it centralizes wellness-wide business management. This tool works especially well with multi-location wellness businesses, although it's important to be mindful that real-world costs often run higher than the quote-based pricing suggests once commissions and add-ons are included.

### 6\. Pabau: best for medical spas and clinic-style salons

Simplify daily tasks - such as scheduling appointments, sending reminders, and managing patient records. (Source: [Capterra](https://www.capterra.com/p/140062/Pabau-CRM/))

[Pabau](https://www.capterra.com/p/140062/Pabau-CRM/) is the top pick on this list for medical spas and clinic-style salons, and its reviewer base is concentrated among aesthetics and wellness clinics that need consent forms and patient records alongside standard booking.

#### Trial/Free Version

#### Device Compatibilty

**Why users like it:**

- A responsive support team was the most-repeated theme, showing up in 42 of 239 reviews.

- Consolidating patient records, consent forms, and client records into one place came up in 17 of 239 reviews.

**Key features:**

- **Consent forms and patient records:** clinical and patient records alongside standard salon booking, built for aesthetics and medi-spa practices.

- **Automated reminders and campaigns:** automated email and SMS reminders plus marketing campaigns.

- **Loyalty tracking:** and a customizable form/template builder.

- **Integrated billing:** billing and point-of-sale integrated with patient records.

**Limitations to know:**

- A learning curve during setup, particularly for advanced or compliance-related workflows, came up in 19 of 239 reviews.

_Limitations data for Pabau in this dataset was concentrated on a single theme and no second limitation reached a reportable pattern._

**What a verified Capterra reviewer says:**

“What I like best about Pabau is how seamlessly it streamlines clinical charting, patient scheduling, and practice workflows into a single intuitive platform. Managing appointments and documentation for aesthetics and wellness treatments requires a reliable, organized system, and Pabau makes client management, intake, and day-to-day operations effortless.”

Ally Tippetts, Physician Associate, Revive Aesthetic Medicine & Wellness, August 2026

**Where it stands:** A responsive support team and the ability to consolidate patient records, consent forms, and booking in one place are what reviewers value most, making Pabau the strongest fit on this list for medical spas and clinic-style salons. Budget time for the learning curve during setup, but for medical spas and clinic-style salons that need consent forms and patient records alongside booking, Pabau remains the strongest fit on this list.

**Bottom line**: Pabau is useful if you are trying to run consent forms and patient records alongside standard salon booking. Reviewers rank its support team and comprehensive feature set highly, noting it's consistently responsive and knowledgeable. This tool works especially well with medical spas, aesthetics clinics, and clinic-style salons, although it's important to be mindful that pricing is a genuine investment rather than a budget option.

### 7\. Vagaro: best for growing salons wanting marketplace booking

Manage appointments from your computer or phone and manage clients from anywhere (Source: [Capterra](https://www.capterra.com/p/153752/Vagaro/))

[Vagaro](https://www.capterra.com/p/153752/Vagaro/) is the most-reviewed tool in this dataset and one of the most feature-complete platforms analyzed, trusted, per Vagaro, by more than 220,000 beauty and wellness professionals across its own marketplace app.

#### Trial/Free Version

#### Device Compatibilty

**Why users like it:**

- **10 native integrations:** including QuickBooks Online and Zoom, per its [Capterra product page](https://www.capterra.com/p/153752/Vagaro/).

**Limitations to know:**

- Card reader and payment-processing fee complaints came up in 17 of 306 reviews.

_Limitations data for Vagaro in this dataset was concentrated on a single theme and no second limitation reached a reportable pattern._

**What a verified Capterra reviewer says:**

“What I liked most about Vagaro was its all-in-one platform. It made scheduling appointments, managing clients, processing payments, and sending automated reminders easy from one place. The interface was intuitive, and the online booking feature helped reduce administrative work while making it convenient for clients to book appointments anytime.”

Kate Lewkowski, Sales, GHGC, August 2026

**Where it stands:** Customer support and automated reminders that cut no-shows are Vagaro's most-repeated strengths, and its own marketplace app adds a genuine new-client discovery channel. Test your own hardware and fee structure before committing, given how often card-reader and payment-processing fees come up, but with the largest review base on this list and its own marketplace app, Vagaro offers real scale for growing salons.

**Bottom line**: Vagaro is useful if you are trying to run a 24/7 marketplace-driven booking alongside built-in payment and POS processing. Reviewers rank its automated reminders and no-show reduction highly, noting clients love booking anytime from their phone. This tool works especially well with growing salons and multi-location businesses, although it's important to be mindful of reviewer-reported outage and reliability concerns if you operate multiple sites.

### 8\. WellnessLiving: best for class- and membership-based studios

_Limitations data for WellnessLiving in this dataset was concentrated on a single theme and no second limitation reached a reportable pattern._

**What a verified Capterra reviewer says:**

“Easy to navigate and user-friendly. Simple booking and membership management. Helpful reports that show membership revenue and total visits. Smooth onboarding and setup process. Everything is organized in one place. Reliable and works consistently.”

Jennifer Garcia, Front Desk, CCMRD, January 2026

**Where it stands:** Reviewers consistently credit fast, responsive customer support, and the combination of class scheduling with membership billing and integrations suits studios running group services alongside individual appointments. Plan for a ramp-up period during onboarding, but for studios running classes and memberships alongside individual appointments, WellnessLiving's combined scheduling and billing is a genuine fit.

**Bottom line**: WellnessLiving is useful if you are trying to run combined class and appointment scheduling with membership billing and a loyalty program. Reviewers rank its integrations and mobile booking app highly, noting it helps run their business seamlessly. This tool works especially well with multi-service studios running memberships and group classes, although it's important to be mindful of its cancellation terms and payment-processing fees before signing an annual contract.

### 9\. When I Work: best for staff scheduling and shift management

Schedule, track time and attendance, and communicate with hourly employees with When I Work (Source: [Capterra](https://www.capterra.com/p/121248/When-I-Work/))

[When I Work](https://www.capterra.com/p/121248/When-I-Work/) is one of the best-value tools in this analysis and by far the least expensive on this list. It's built primarily as a workforce-scheduling tool that salons use alongside, not instead of, a client-booking platform.

**Why users like it:**

- A user-friendly interface for scheduling staff came up in 14 of 207 reviews.

**Key features:**

- **Staff scheduling and shift management:** with mobile clock-in/out.

- **Activity Dashboard:** a capability reviewers highlight for tracking staff attendance and task status in real time.

- **Team messaging:** and shift-swap requests.

- **20+ integrations:** including payroll and POS tools, per its [Capterra product page](https://www.capterra.com/p/121248/When-I-Work/).

**Limitations to know:**

- Notifications and alerts can be inconsistent, coming up in 14 of 207 reviews.

_Limitations data for When I Work in this dataset was concentrated on a single theme and no second limitation reached a reportable pattern._

**What a verified Capterra reviewer says:**

“When I work is feature rich and affordable. I like how easy it is to use. Employees can view schedules, request time off, track time, and swap shifts all in one space! The Calendar is easy to view and schedule shifts from. I like that I can create specific shifts in the app and then just add them to employees. It saves a lot of time when creating schedules.”

Geoffrey Petersen, VP, Karen's World Art, August 2026

**Where it stands:** This is a staff-scheduling and shift-management tool, not a client-booking platform, and reviewers value it precisely for that focus: letting employees view, swap, and request time off on their own. Test notification reliability with your own team before rolling it out broadly, but at the lowest price on this list, When I Work remains a strong, focused choice for staff scheduling alongside your booking platform.

**Bottom line**: When I Work is useful if you are trying to run staff scheduling and shift management with mobile clock-in/out. Reviewers rank its ease of use highly, noting it's affordable and simple for managing schedules and swaps. This tool works especially well with salons that need staff-scheduling and labor-management alongside a separate client-booking platform, although it's important to be mindful that it isn't built to handle client bookings on its own.

### 10\. ZENOTI: best for multi-location salon and spa chains

Marketing campaigns dashboards to track metrics in ZENOTI (Source: [Capterra](https://www.capterra.com/p/131057/ZENOTI/))

[ZENOTI](https://www.capterra.com/p/131057/ZENOTI/) is built for larger, multi-location salon and spa chains that need enterprise-level reporting, and its reviewer base is concentrated among businesses managing appointments and patients across several sites.

#### Device Compatibilty

**Why users like it:**

- Onboarding and implementation support was the most-repeated theme, showing up in 38 of 147 reviews.

- Complete appointment and patient management came up in 24 of 147 reviews.

**Key features:**

- **Multi-location dashboard:** scheduling, inventory, and reporting from a single dashboard.

- **Built-in POS:** and payment processing.

- **Marketing automation:** and membership management at scale.

- **Mobile apps:** for both staff and clients.

**Limitations to know:**

- A steep learning curve came up in 12 of 147 reviews.

_Limitations data for ZENOTI in this dataset was concentrated on a single theme and no second limitation reached a reportable pattern._

**What a verified Capterra reviewer says:**

“The customer support and onboarding process were excellent. The Zenoti team was responsive, knowledgeable, and helpful throughout our transition, which made implementing the platform across multiple locations much easier.”

Sam Aziz, Practice Manager, Chin Up! Aesthetics, July 2026

**Where it stands:** Onboarding and implementation support are what reviewers highlight most, which matters given the platform's depth: appointment, patient, and multi-location management all live in one dashboard. Budget for a real ramp-up period, since the learning curve is the most-repeated limitation among reviewers here, but for multi-location chains that need enterprise-level reporting in one dashboard, ZENOTI delivers depth few competitors match.

**Bottom line**: ZENOTI is useful if you are trying to run multi-location scheduling, inventory, and reporting from a single dashboard. Reviewers rank its customer service and reporting depth highly, noting it supports multi-location management well. This tool works especially well with larger, multi-location salon and spa chains, although it's important to be mindful of its steep onboarding curve and pricing that doesn't suit single-location businesses.

## What to look for in salon software

Picking the right platform here has less to do with brand name recognition and more to do with a handful of operational details that only surface once you dig into the review data yourself, starting with scope.

**Are you a solo stylist, booth renter, or running a full team?**

GlossGenius and Acuity Scheduling both skew toward solo and small-team use, while ZENOTI and Mindbody are built for larger, multi-location operations relying on salon management software that gives corporate visibility across every site.

**Do you need marketplace-driven new-client discovery, or do you already have a client base?**

Vagaro and Booksy Biz both bundle a consumer-facing marketplace app for new-client discovery. If you're not trying to attract walk-in demand, a tool like Acuity Scheduling or Mangomint may fit better without the marketplace overhead.

**Does your business need medical-spa or clinic-style features?**

If you run consent forms, patient records, or treatment documentation alongside booking, Pabau is built specifically for that use case, while most pure scheduling tools require a separate system for compliance documentation.

**How many locations do you operate?**

Single-location salons tend to favor simplicity and price, while ZENOTI and Mindbody are built for cross-location reporting and franchise-style management once you need visibility across multiple sites.

## Frequently asked questions about salon software

What is the best software to manage all salon operations?

Based on our review analysis, Mangomint is the strongest all-around pick for managing salon operations end to end: scheduling, payments, marketing, and staff permissions, with the highest rating of any tool in this list (4.97 across 208 verified reviews). Larger, multi-location operations may be better served by ZENOTI or Mindbody, which trade some of Mangomint's polish for deeper cross-location reporting.

What software do stylists use?

Across the reviews behind this list, the most-reviewed tools among individual stylists and small studios are GlossGenius, Vagaro, and Mangomint. All three are built with mobile-first, single-stylist workflows in mind, and reviewers overwhelmingly describe them as easy to set up without outside help.

What's better than Fresha?

Fresha isn't part of the review dataset behind this list, so we can't compare it head-to-head here. Among the 10 tools we did review, GlossGenius and Booksy Biz are the closest comparison points for stylists evaluating similar low-cost, marketplace-style booking apps; see each product's Capterra page for a direct feature-by-feature comparison.

Which salon app is best?

It depends on what “best” means for your business. For an all-around, highest-rated pick, it's Mangomint. For the lowest price, it's When I Work (staff scheduling) or Acuity Scheduling (client booking). For marketplace-driven new-client discovery, it's Vagaro or Booksy Biz. The comparison table above maps rating, review volume, and starting price for all 10 tools so you can weigh the trade-offs directly.

What is the best booking software for salons?

As dedicated salon booking software, Acuity Scheduling is a most-reviewed booking-focused tool on this list, thanks to an all-inclusive plan that bundles forms, deposits, and payments without upsells. Vagaro and GlossGenius are close alternatives if you also want built-in marketplace discovery or a mobile-first design.

What is the best booking software for hairdressers?

For independent hairdressers and booth renters, GlossGenius and Acuity Scheduling are the two most commonly cited tools in our review sample, both prized for fast setup and no-frills, mobile-friendly booking pages.

What is the best software for salons?

Mangomint again leads on pure rating strength, but “best” should be filtered by your salon's size and service mix. See the “What to look for in salon software” section above for a use-case-based recommendation rather than a single universal answer.

What is the best app to book an appointment at a hair salon?

From the client's side, Vagaro and Booksy Biz both operate large consumer-facing marketplace apps that let clients search for and book salon appointments directly, which is why salons that want new-client discovery, not just scheduling for existing clients, tend to choose one of these two.

What is the best salon management software?

For full salon management, not just booking, but staff, inventory, payroll, and reporting, Mangomint, WellnessLiving, and ZENOTI each cover the broadest feature set on this list. The right choice depends on whether you're a single location (Mangomint), a class- or membership-based studio (WellnessLiving), or a multi-location chain (ZENOTI).

What is the best CRM for salons?

Pabau is the strongest CRM-first pick on this list: it centers the platform around patient and client records and consent history rather than booking alone, which suits medical-spa and clinic-style salons in particular. WellnessLiving's member database is a secondary option for studios that need CRM-style client tracking alongside class and membership management.

- [My Picks for the 10 Best Scheduling Software, Based on My Analysis of 12,634 Capterra Reviews](https://www.capterra.com/resources/best-scheduling-software-reviews-analysis/)

Reviews were assessed from September 2024 to September 2026. All ratings and review counts reflect data as of the time of publication. Pricing was verified against each product's official Capterra listing in September 2026.

To be included in this list, each product had to:

1. Have a minimum overall rating of 4.0 and at least 20 verified reviews in the last 24 months.

2. Be genuinely built for, or actively used by, salon and spa businesses, as evidenced by the product's own feature set and its reviewer population.

3. Have a review set that holds up under a data integrity check: no exact-duplicate content across the sample, and no single business or franchise concentrated enough to skew a product's themes.

To build the shortlist:

- I analyzed 4,045 verified user reviews across 117 salon and spa software products on Capterra, then narrowed the field to the 10 salon-relevant tools with the strongest combination of review volume and overall rating.

- Reviews were checked for exact-duplicate text within each product's sample; none were found. A near-duplicate was found for WellnessLiving (two reviews, attributed to different businesses, sharing identical pros text), and both were kept, since each reflects a distinct, apparently genuine account.

- Each product's review set was checked for concentration from a single business or franchise that could skew its themes. None showed meaningful concentration; the largest was five of 239 reviews for a single company (Pabau).

- The final 10 products account for 2,015 of the 4,045 reviews analyzed, with each product meeting the 20-review reliability threshold.

- Reviewer quotes were selected for specificity and diversity of business type and role; no single product supplies more than one of the quotes used.

- Pricing and standout features were verified against each product's individual Capterra page as of September 2026. Where a vendor does not publish a starting price (Mindbody, and Pabau's higher tiers), this is noted rather than estimated.
