This doesn't create a professional looking intake note like the other system I used. No ability to write a formal short note about a phone session, or missed sessions when you void the invoice you can't document it. Can't send attachments in an email via this site that I don't want to make available to all clients. The billing feature pages are very confusing and can be very overwhelming. The measures offered are limited and personally I don't want to have to input them and/or recreate them and it doesn't allow me to send specific measures to individual clients. It's like a one size fits all with this product. As a private practice therapist, I spend most of my day meeting with clients and documenting my work in CounSol. I experience CounSol as a reliable co-worker who is really efficient at her job! When my friends set-up their private practice, I recommend CounSol and they often haven't heard of it because they don't advertise as much as some of the others but, with its exceptional customer service and good functionality, it is a gem and well worth it. Pros When I chose CounsSol almost 10 years ago, I reviewed all the competing options very carefully. In the end, I chose CounSol for their impressive customer support. Other platforms expect you to do-it-yourself in terms of creating the forms you want in your EHR. CounSol staff will take a form you already like, in what ever state it is already in, and make it accessible for your clients in your EHR. Also, with other platforms, when you have a problem, you submit it to a help line. At CounSol, you are assigned one customer service representative who is available to you. My person hasn't changed in all the time I have been with the company, and when he went on maternity leave, I was assigned a different support person. He always answers my questions in a timely way! Cons The platform for video sessions does not allow people to log in from two separate locations. I understand the company is working on fixing that. Some of the other platforms are somewhat less expensive but I am not sure it is worth the trade off because what you save in a few dollars less, you will spend in your time trying to customize your platform and fix your problems in ways that CounSol staff will help you with. This has been helpful b/c following up with questions/comments is done with ease; there is no familiarizing someone "new" to the case/issue. The portal is easy to use and directions are concise and direct with screenshots that provide visual aide to those who need it (me!). I have recommended CounSol to others and have shared that it one of the most professional, clear and helpful EHR's I have used (I have been in the field since 2008). I started as an individual practitioner and have grown a group practice, all with CounSol. Pros I find that CounSol is unique in having a dedicated customer service helper who responds incredibly quickly. I like how we can create as many of our own forms as we want, and all of the features for assigning forms and documents. I really like the transparency of cost, and since we don't pay per client, it is very cost effective for a growing practice. Our clients love the client portal, and we find the journal system a helpful feature as well, especially for clients who want to be in touch without having to respond (we respond to messages). We like the portal for our email with clients. The billing system works very well too. I guess we pretty much like everything. Cons I think CounSol has a dated appearance (skin), however the features are so good, and the look is easy to navigate. Reason for choosing CounSol.com I like that CounSol did not charge additional per use credit card fees, did not charge per use Office Ally fees for billing, and also that we could have unlimited number of active and inactive clients without paying extra or having to close client files early. I have used quite a few over the years and really like the ease of this platform. I like being able to contact someone if I have issues and the help section is very helpful. Pros I have a customer service person I can email at anytime that I am having an issue and have a question. When I first started, he was getting daily emails as I was learning the software. Now it is occasional as I know the program after 3 years but still he he answers all questions quickly. I like that I can use Counsol on every platform and it is adaptable for my practice needs. I do like the email portion, that it has an integrated televideo platform (not the best with iffy internet) and integrated billing/insurance claims Cons The clearinghouse is Ally and they have a smaller portion of the insurance market. I can still submit claims but have to pay $35/month if more claims submitted to non-participating vs participating insurances. I do a workaround by creating paper claims in Counsol and use portals such as Availity or directly to Optum. The billing portion took me longer to learn and still have some issues with that but that is input error not programing. I also appreciate that they are always looking for user feedback to improve their service, and they are responsive to our recommendations. In addition, they share new features with us in their newsletter so that we are never lost. Overall, all other features are excellent, from the biopsychosocial both the short and long-form, treatment planner, and the new integrative feature of therascribe, that is a real plus. Lastly, creating a bill or invoice is also pretty easy. I deeply appreciate all of the hard work that goes on in continously improving this service, and the support they provide. I highly recommend Counsol.com. Cons The scheduling of appointments can be a little user-friendly, but then I learned the trick. I think having little videos on different features may help the user. The visual interface can be upgraded more modernized. I would not publicize this, but Therapynotes has a beautiful interface and a very easy-to-use scheduling system, but I prefer the flexibility of features provided by Counsol.com. Such an amazing software, but the telemental health feature needed updating. I stopped using it in favor of Doxyme and Zoom. The interface, visually it was not modern enough, a little boring. https://www.therapynotes.com/ but they have a beautiful interface, very modern, clean, and appealing. I like that they have a to do list 2. The scheduling software is still a problem, too many steps to create a schedule and it is so frustrating. I still don't get it. TherapyNotes allowed me to create an appointment immediately. 3. Therapy notes also kept track of my to-dos for every client. 4. Therapy notes had lots of features that I really appreciated, yet I liked to create my own notes and none of the other software allows us to do this and if they did, which they promised they would, they wanted to charge for the feature. Pros CounSol literally does everything. I have note templates and can customize to create any form or assessment needed. Everything can be signed electronically, and I can electronically send documents for therapy homework with ease. Clients love the streamlined interface and ability to self-schedule, submit payments, print their invoices, etc. Clients can also securely journal between sessions, and video for sessions is dependable. Cons I wish CounSol would develop the ability to interface with multiple clients at one time via video for the purposes of group or family sessions, and I wish there was an app. I think my clients would super appreciate the ease of an app interface. It's a powerful tool that allows nearly everything I need to run my practice. Pros Billing is really easy. I have a contact person who can answer questions. There's a great deal of flexibility for entering forms. Cons Some of the things are not very intuitive. Most of the time I try to figure out how to do something via help I wind up asking my contact what to do. Usually there's a solution, but sometimes the site doesn't allow what I want to do. The video on the site was convenient, but ultimately connection was too unreliable and I had to move to Zoom and that does work better.
