Cons The polls deactivate after a while so each time the class is run I have to go in and activate the polls I am going to use that semester. This account was tied to my former small business, which I haven’t closed but am not currently operating. The charge caused my account to overdraft, which was not only stressful but also financially impactful. I reached out to Poll Everywhere immediately to explain the situation and request a refund, but what I received in return was a rigid, policy-driven response that completely ignored my unique circumstances. Despite me clearly stating that I no longer need or use the service—and the fact that I had used it only once—they refused to offer any flexibility or refund. They cited “fairness and consistency,” but it’s clear this approach serves their bottom line, not their customers. Why This Matters: I am a journalist who produces independent documentary films. Anyone who has ever tried to build a small business or create independent films knows how difficult it is to stay afloat financially. What may seem like a small $129.72 charge to a company like Poll Everywhere is, in reality, a significant amount to those of us who are working hard to create something meaningful. This makes your presentations look super tech-forward and is sure to impress! Cons The user interface in the backend of PollEV is kind of dated and clunky. The computer app is not good and it almost requires you to make all of your slides on the internet. Moreover, it was not immediately clear to me how to convert slides/polls from one type of question to another, and I continually had to start over with a new question type instead of easily toggling the question type on an already created question.
