" April 17, 2018 5.0 A clearer mind because I know that I have captured all the parts of a client or project and I can quickly assign tasks and now that my team is on top of everything. Pros We can organize everything from to-dos to documents to random thoughts about a client or project in one place so it is easy to stay on top of everything or to pick up where you left off. Cons one feature that I hope is coming soon is to be able to make a repeating to-do. Right now we change the date but don't have the satisfaction of checking it off every time. It helps with work flow and deadlines. Pros It's easy to learn how to use Basecamp. The search functionality and notifications are great. Cons I get way too many email notifications. I know I can edit that setting, but I never seem to do it properly. Also, some team members get a bit passive about minding their projects and comments added, but we're all getting better with this. So its a real shame the support choked and it frequently becomes unstable. When it works its great - but a real shame it's not more closely managed. Cons Unstable, unsupported and the least reliable part of our stack. Overall it has been a great experience and has enabled our rapidly growing agency to get even more use out of basecamp and stay on the platform longer. Pros This adds kanbans to projects in basecamp, which is amazing, however, this takes it a step further and allows us to turn all of our projects into cards on a kanban board and individuals can organize their tasks on kanban boards. This is a really useful add-on to basecamp and honestly is a feature that basecamp is missing. Cons The con is not really about tracked but about basecamp. It feels like it always should have been a part of the software as it allow us to stay in basecamp for all of our project needs, rather than jumping in between software and has made us more efficient in our day to day projects! Pros We love using basecamp with some of our partners to easily keep track of a project, but Tracked has increased that organization tenfold. We can keep everything from a task list to assets to comments all in one place so that we can all easily stay on top of the project! Thus I'm often refreshing the page or else logging out and in again. Pros Makes a visible board of tasks across the team and a way to move them into different columns such as In Progress or Q&A. Cons Sometimes slow to sync with Basecamp. Cannot resize columns width ways, thus have to scroll horizontally. Have to continually re-sort columns by date, it doesn't seem to remember this setting. I find dragging tasks between categories and setting up new tasks and categories to be very easy. Cons I think it would be really great to set up sprints in Tracked. If we could have a more focused view of what I should be working on in a particular week or two weeks. Also it's a bit frustrating that I can't see the boards on the desktop or mobile Basecamp apps but I'm not sure much can be done about it. February 7, 2019 4.0 As a developer, I love seeing my tasks lined up in the Backlog and sometimes make myself a Today column which gives me a lot more clarity than Basecamp's standard views. The QA/Review column is also a must have in our process when a task is done but awaiting release or approval. Pros Well considered design and implementation. Consistently improving and with very quick customer service and fast turnaround for feature requests and bug fixes. Tracked is impressive particularly because it could be so much more limited but they have ensured it is as full featured as possible. Cons Unfortunate that it can't work in the desktop apps and mobile app but tbh we don't use those anyway. The popup of a task when you click it on the Kanban is a little clunky looking and doesn't yet support the Harvest time tracking extension (although they are working on this). It has also helped with team collaboration to provide a visual tool for organizing and prioritizing. Pros The setup is about as straightforward as it gets. I like how both projects themselves and the tasks within projects can treated as boards-- that is really helpful for macro-level monitoring and prioritization for management across a project portfolio, as well as simple project visibility into the status of a group of tasks. Cons The admin view for Tracked needs a little front-end polish so that the table data display is a little more consistent. The button to "sync projects" can take a while and would benefit from some sort of progress bar to show time to completion. Review Source Nicola W. Improves the Basecamp experience massively. Pros The ability to add custom columns to the board so that it can be used for a multitude of project types is invaluable. However we would love the following features - Milestones - Task dependencies (Blocked by, other task Blocking etc.) - Temporarily hiding entire columns in the kanban view (When you have 15+ columns in a board it gets hard) - Better everhour support. Pros Our team loves both the Kanban boards and the labels. We only use the personal Kanban boards, and project and personal do not really align for us. All our staff use the Kanban boards in one of 2 rough ways: By Project - Each column is a project - Context switching becomes very quick - Helps when running multiple projects at once and knowing what the next task in each project is. By Timeframe - Each column is a timeframe - Examples include (Q1 2019, Q2 2019, This month, This week) The labels are used in a number of ways - Tracking which clients certain todo's affect - Tracking whether some task is blocked (This should really be a separate feature) - Tracking milestones or release targets for issues (Again should be a seperate feature) - Tracking issue severity - Tracking issue priority Cons Not specifically a trackedhq issue. When clicking a todo in the Kanban board it comes up in a custom dialog. This BREAKS the everhour basecamp integration. We were using tracked to quickly jump between tasks and assign time to everhour. Im unsure exactly how the Everhour plugin works but i assume it requires the full task page (Like how Kanban used to be). April 17, 2018 3.0 It helped us organize a bit better. Pros Tracked was the only solution that would allow us to have Kanban boards within the actual Basecamp 3 website itself. That "single source of truth" is important to us -- we've had issues in the past with data getting missed because it's siloed in multiple places. There were other Kanban providers for Basecamp, but none that surfaced the data within the Basecamp interface. Cons It's a bit limited because of how it's implemented. Inserting and rearranging page elements on-the-fly to add the Kanban views to the standard Basecamp pages sometimes causes visual glitches or rendering oddities. Page elements wind up out of place sometimes and refreshing the page doesn't always fix the problem. It was problematic because all users needed to add the extension to have the same view/capabilities and that change management was ultimately too difficult/not worth it. Our organization requires administrative permission for Chrome extensions and it would be ideal to apply this to anyone that is a member of our Basecamp account so individuals are not required to take this upon themselves in a large organization. Pros Adds a missing functionality from Basecamp - the labeling feature is very helpful and it baffles me why Basecamp doesn't develop their product to include this feature. Cons The Kanban boards look nice and are likely helpful for some but this tool lacks the ability to provide high level oversight. Timelines/gannt charts etc.. would be a great addition. It is useful to have a different board for each project/team. Integration with Basecamp was simple to do. Cons The Kanban UI could be a lttle more polished/beautiful. Although I imagine it could be difficult to change while still maintaining design consistency with Basecamp. We used to use Jira Kanban, and I think it was more pleasant to look at. Besides that, there is the fact that the product can get pricy for a great number of collaborators. Pros It's very easy to set up and create to-dos. With being in an IT department, we have requests come in very frequently on top of our long-term projects. Tracked does a great job of making it easy to manage and continue to be as efficient as possible. Cons So far, I have not found really any cons to the software. As i continue to use the software, i will continue to provide feedback for improvement as it comes in. Also, the fact that it cannot work from within the desktop app is a real negative. Pros Tracked is great in that it offers something closer to a 30,000-foot view of your projects and allows you to leverage the strengths of kanban and tags, something that I wish was native to Basecamp. Cons Tracked cannot be configured to use to-do lists as the basis for cards in its kanban view. Also, it often gets stuck generating cards in the kanban view. Cons Very slow, fi you need to use it many times a day you give up and also your team. I think the ideia is great but need something more to keep using. One example is if I organize a KanbanBoard to one designer and if he move the jobs in his board and add the job to another designer, nothing will change in the other designer board and also the board names are always different. Tracked is a useful extension. It really helps us prioritize and keep the rest of the team appraised of our progress. Cons Occasionally Tracked will disappear from Basecamp for no apparent reason. I won't notice until my project manager asks why I'm not using tags on my To-Dos. Then, I'll have ot reinstall it.
