In fact we have over the past 3 years not experienced a route failure that was due to eiPlatform. In combination with eiDashboard we have enabled our first line support teams to effectively identify any operational issues experienced on the coal face thereby providing our customers with rapid feedback and faster issue resolution. Pros Depth of functionality, ease of use, capability to test and review data sets at each step in the assembly line, speed with which interfaces can be built, tested and deployed. When we e-mail/call in a problem, we go straight to someone who can fix it without the runaround that you get with other vendors. Overall, now that we have the Pilotfish eiPlatform in our environment, I honestly (honestly!) can't imagine not having it. We've been able to do so many neat integrations that we never thought possible before. Pros The capability of the Pilotfish eiPlatform is staggering. This product, along with the accompanying eiConsole, allows us to rapidly develop, test, and deploy integrations between disparate systems in our hospital. If there is a need to move and transform data from one point to another \*reliably\*, this is the tool. The amount of built in integration transports and listeners borders on the ludicrous. In addition to our main goal of HL7 integration between our EHR and third-party software, we've also been able to connect things we never imagined, like our HRIS to our service ticketing system, payroll and employee data to our reporting platform, and so much more. The eiConsole software used to design the workflows (routes in Pilotfish parlance) allows for quick, graphical, drag and drop manipulation of data in a linear, easy-to-follow fashion. Don't be fooled, however; For the power user, there are options to go "straight to the code" and directly manipulate the transforms with real-time, robust error checking. The eiPlatform has enabled us to break down data silos and improve efficiency across the organization. Cons Honestly, there are no cons. The software is necessarily large in scope due to its versatile nature. The training will cover the "need to know" aspects of developing workflows on the platform, but there is a lot to learn, so be prepared to reference the excellent documentation when you first start out! The eiPlatform gave us that solution with a low cost-of-entry in terms of training and ramp-up for our integration technicians as well as our software development team. Pros We've used PilotFish's eiConsole since 2012 to quickly develop end-to-end interfaces for our mobile medication management products. The winning combination of their easily-digestible training, simple yet powerful console user interface, and even a repository of existing interface templates (PIE) made PilotFish an easy decision when we needed to integrate an interface broker solution. Cons It's a minor point but the console UI can be a bit tricky to navigate, especially busy UI screens like the data mapper, on a laptop or smaller screen. Pros PilotFish is the most intuitive and robust software solution I have ever worked with. Which says a lot. I have 30 years experience working with products from Oracle, IBM and Microsoft. None of them have been as stable as PilotFish. We have had a PilotFish eiPlatform (the runtime) running for 5 years and it just keeps on chugging along. What I really appreciate is that it is so flexible and versatile. As middleware, PilotFish is a truly a universal adaptor. I can work with any data format and communications protocol. If it did not include a prebuilt listener, transport or processor that I’ve needed, the product’s Open API, allows you to extend the product. While its graphical assembly line approach for configuring interfaces makes it appear that the product is only suited for simple integration, it is a workhorse. I have found that PilotFish can handle the most complex process orchestrations and integration scenarios. One of our uses was to use it to call stored procedures allowing us to leverage existing code. The PilotFish support team is fantastic. The support process is very streamlined and responsive. The team consists of really bright software engineers who are great to work with. Their Docker deployment is a huge plus. Set up time is just minutes. I really like their new on-demand licensing model. I can spin up a bunch of servers for testing and since we only pay for actual runtime, we can keep your monthly cost low. The software is very versatile allowing for any file type or connection to data. Unlike some ETL tools you can build complete platforms to manage your data acquisition and delivery methods. Cons I would like to have some light checkin built in for managing updates from multiple users. Their dashboard could use more end user configuration capabilities. It then transforms this data into formats (XML, Flat) which the surveillance systems can consume. This system also creates data (HL7) for delivery to the CDC for various projects. Pros Very powerful compared to competitors like Rhapsody. Extensible custom processors provide a mechanism to build your own add-ons (listeners, processors, etc. etc.) Cons Requires a knowledge of XSLT which was a new paradigm for me. June 5, 2019 5.0 Right now we are running CCDAs, HL7s, and Claims data with little to no problems at all. With the platform we are leaving to move fully over to PilotFish it has been a pleasure to work with and have had night/day experience from where we were. Pros Love the ease of use and the speed of which you can get your job done on this platform. It has taken every file type we have thrown at it and processed the files with ease. The training materials that they offer online alone are very well thought out and put together to make their clients successful. The in-person training was very insightful and set us up to be successful right out of the gates with using the software. We have been able to turn around clients on our end 10 times faster than in the past. It has been very flexible to accommodate the subtle changes imposed by the HL7 providers, and very reliable and performant to process the incoming traffic demands. Pros Intuitive graphical user interface and the capability of a containerized engine version. Highly customizable to interact with a variety of components (databases, web services, custom services) in the data transformation chain.
