The regular emails to advise of postal increases and notice of needed updates, which are quite easy to implement, make this a terrific solution. Pros Postage Saver is very easy to work with and is a wonderful alternative to the more expensive solutions. Postage Saver reports are accurate, and the cost is much less. The software definitely prints nonpresort Bound Printed Matter, and does that automatically if you have fewer than 300 pieces per shipment. But the software still does perform presort, in order to get you better delivery, as recommended to us by USPS. That also prevents you from needing to sort by delivery zone. I emailed to ask questions and got an email within minutes. They had all my questions taken care of that day. And even asked me about a few things I didn't know I needed to do and helped me take care of that too. Cons Honestly for our small non profit I don't have any complaints. The software just works. You can save the statement setups and recall them on the screen where you enter the statement info. The best way to save previous printouts is to save them as pdfs. You can do that when you first create them, or you can go back and do that for the most recent mailing from the File menu in Postage Saver. As to comparing postage costs, we have some rate calculators on our web site that let you estimate costs for different types of mail. I studied the output reports and learned how to build a Microsoft Word mail merge later. After I figured out how to make tri-address pages with Microsoft, I was able to add the Group, Tray, and Sequence numbers to each window label insert for our printing contractor. That way, we could custom load content by address and keep mail in USPS pre-sort! Pure genius \[sensitive content hidden\] - Thank you! Pros The online helps are the best bar none. I studied many web sites too. I like the on-line reviews, that described how other nonprofits used the tool the way I intend to meet USPS requirements. The automated reports, features, menu-driven guides, make it seem-less and easy to use. The cost will save us more than before with manual methods before January 28, 2024. Cons It took me awhile to figure out that Postage $aver Pro wanted to overwrite my original CSV file, and that's okay. I saw the prompt, but it didn't cause me to think much being new to application. My work around was to save a copy of the original CSV file and use the copy for Postage $aver Pro if I needed to compare the lists later. If I started with 1305 records, Postage $aver Pro exported 1305 records. So, there isn't really anything to dislike because it is adding value to the data file. Reason for choosing Postage $aver BCC was an enterprise solution that covered all aspects of mailing. It required about 1M pieces of mail to justify the cost and we only had about 500K. For our nonprofit marketing mail, we only had 18-22K pieces. So, we were looking for a smaller and affordable package that we could scale up with other projects in our nonprofit organization. There is no doubt that the system is complicated but the Postage Software software simplifies it for me beyond belief. I would like to be able to view a copy of the postage statement before printing everything for those instances where I have not met the minimum weight. Even new features don't get explained much. What is Presorting in your zip code? Nobody that was asked knew. Make sure to see if this program does go obsolete or not. Pros The best feature of Postage $aver is the core function: calculating postage prices. Cons There worst part is not even their fault. This program is hardcopy only. The new changes proposed by USPS make it so that the mail needs to be online through the USPS website. So, this might be obsolete in the future. Pros We like the fact that Postage Saver links with our MuniLink billing software, and sorts everything. It's great that it calculates the postage. Tech support has been very good when we have needed it. Cons There is one thing which could use tweaking, and I'm not sure if this is the billing software or Postage Saver. But, when the postal codes which tell you what bin to use and which bills go with them are printed out - the hand sorts are at the beginning. This would be fine, but the numbering is off - ie. Handsorts can be numbered 1-19, but this throws off the subsequent numbering. The user has to add 19 to every number in the list - not fun. Some of them have had to prepare bulk mailings manually in the past, and were confounded by changing USPS requirements. My ability to produce money-saving results with minimal effort seems like magic to them. Pros I've used Postage $aver for nearly 20 years, and it has greatly simplified an often-confusing and tiresome task time and time again. More recent versions, that produce high-quality versions of USPS forms, impress the staff at one of the Bulk Mail Acceptance facilities I use. Even as the volume and frequency of mailings I oversee decreases, I will continue to renew and support this software as long as I'm able. Cons Nothing, really, but I hope that a 64-bit version for MacOS will be available by the time its required.
