August 15, 2025 5.0 Luckily, we could see what the bidders won and allowed them to pay by cash, venmo or check to avoid fees. Pros This was the easiest and most efficient silent auction ever - it allowed folks - no matter where they were or what the were doing - stay in the game of bidding. even folks who didn't attend the event were invited to bid - this increased bidding exponentially meaning more money was raised. Cons I hate that there was a service fee (quite high) for credit card payments. Luckily, we found a work around by letting those present pay in person. Review Source KO Keturah O. Payment processing is a bit slow, but I'd rate it 7/10 based on the return on investment and site management. Pros I love the many options for travel experiences and gaining a percentage of prizes listed. Also, it offered more than travel, but artwork and miscellaneous as well. I also liked how you can add a logo for those who sponsored the added item. Cons What I really disliked was that you couldn't add multiple trips of the same experience. People had to bid against themselves in order to win multiple trips. meaning they would have to bid higher just to win multiple instead of the option to list it multiple times. I also didn't like if we wanted to close out and then open back up for the things that didn't sell, we would have to start a brand new auction versus opening it back up. They need to make it easier to set up the account. Pros Easy to place bids. Easy to add or subtract items. Cons Very difficult to set up the account. I was originally told that the account was set up and I had starting the LIVE AUCTION only to find that my authorization and account set up had not been approved and was not set up. Had to get my daughter (I am terrible with computers) to straighten everything out. Cons As a small 501c3 we thought the expenses from using the site were a little drastic, especially with the percentage taken out for any of the TravelPledge items we sold. It was extremely easy for me to create all the items, manage the shipping, and deal with the purchases and payments after the event. If we were to ever get more serious or have more regular auctions, I would hope for some more bells and whistles, but that's not what I needed this time, and winningbidder.com was the perfect solution. Pros The platform is very straightforward and extremely easy to use. Also, the fee structure is unbeatable! Cons There are very limited customization/branding options. I also wish you could set different end times for the items, which would help drive sales up. I'd use them again in a heartbeat when I next have the need for an auction, and I also would READILY recommend them to colleagues in the industry. They should be more widely known as I'm sure many non-profits would prefer to utilize a system that didn't cost them a percentage. Pros Absolutely the thing I was looking for most was low-cost way of doing our online auction, that would hopefully not be too difficult to use. is free to use other than the credit card processing fees, and even those are optionally paid by your winning bidders when they pay...which 100% of our winners did, so it ended up being completely free for us as an organization. With that, I expected to encounter issues like it being difficult to use or having to navigate through 100 ads in order to get there... or that my auction bidders would, too. Instead, I found it easy to use and get set up for my items, and easy to set the features. I also really appreciated the ability to supplement the auction with items from winning bidder where we generated 40% or 80% of the sales price. While not everything we posted sold at that minimum price, the things that did still helped our bottom line. Cons The "item value" line -- it isn't shown to the bidders, and yet it's mandatory to complete. I did a lot of research about the reasonable value of items that don't have a prescribed value (such as an autographed hockey puck), and then it was frustrating to feel like I did that for nothing... wish there was a way to opt out of using that line, but it's minor in the grand scheme of things. Also, DURING the auction, you cannot view the current bid on the back end of the site without hitting a separate bid report or going to the front end to look. It would be a nice addition to have a place you can go for an overview of your auction's current status. Recommendation for future change, but overall just a minor inconvenience. It is a price to performance champ! It has everything you need and nothing you don't. Sure, there could be more bells and whistles, however, in the end, I would opt for the simplicity, intuitiveness, and cost of the WinningBidder platform. Pros The platform was straightforward and easy to use. The item setup was intuitive as was the reporting. For our use, it had all the basic features that we required for our 20+ item online auction. Their partnership with TravelPledge was a bonus and added a level of excitement and helped round out our offerings. Cons The formatting of items and website look, and feel was limited and bare bones. There is no ability to add video or hyperlinks to sponsor websites. It would be nice to have a bit more options and/or ways to see trending or hot items, to draw more attention/bidding. First, this product being free for Non-Profits was huge, I was trying to raise money to send coaches and athletes to camp and this product made that possible. The software was so easy to use and had so many aids to help. They partner with some pretty impressive companies that donate for auctions so that you can use them as you try to raise money. Most of these I would have had no chance at procuring but TravelPledge made it easy to use these and helped in reaching my goals. Also there were some questions I had and their team answered so quickly and helped me make sure the experience was awesome. Cons I wish there was a way to customize it a little more, maybe just change the background color and make it more appealing visually. Pros TravelPledge is extremely user friendly and simplifies the auction process. Rather than going out and begging businesses for donations, this program provides options with transparency of the actual retail value and with how much is automatically donated to the non-profits themselves. Cons We had no cons in our initial experiences. It is maybe just a matter of some of our donors growing comfortable with online options. Some of the other products did not have the transparency of TravelPledge in showing the outright retail value or how much is donated to the non-profit itself when purchasing the package. We plan to work with TravelPledge again on similar events. Pros TravelPledge's platform was quite user-friendly for our online silent auction. Uploading images and creating item descriptions was a simple and intuitive process, and TravelPledge's customer service team was readily available to help when needed. Cons The only issue we encountered was the time-consuming process of having to re-number items according to dollar amount value in the dashboard when new items were donated.
