Pros The ability to properly monitor the performance of my entire network and an incredible helpful tool. Cons More quota's can be offered by Dotcom-Monitor. Review Source Greg A. Founder Internet Used the software for: I used a free trial ### "Useful tool for uptime alerts" May 12, 2026 4.0 Pros When your website monitor fails, it records both the HTML response and the traceroute, which can be very helpful in debugging. Also, customer support was helpful. Cons It is fairly expensive. Also, the UI is a little cumbersome. For instance, by default, the monitor doesn't alert anyone, so you have to specifically go into the monitor to select who you want to alert. If you don't change the default, you won't get alerted if the monitor is down. I'd rather it select the default group or at least give you an error when you try to save it. I was able to do a comparison of the different types of dotcom-monitor Web/URL monitors and was successful in determining that dotcom-monitor provides a more true result (less false errors) than our current tool for web sites which use Cloudflare. Pros Ability to create a real browser based URL monitor which is able to get beyond the Cloudflare bot detection forbidden errors. Our current URL monitoring tool is failing with false errors (forbidden/403) to web sites which use the Cloudflare service. I tried the same URL with Dotcom-Monitor and by using Single Web Page Monitoring monitor type and the Device Type of "Using Real Browsers (Chrome, Firefox, IE)" (not the default HTTP Uptime & Availability Device Type which also failed with forbidden errors like to our internal tool) with success. I also like that I can choose which location(s) the check is sourced from. Nice! Cons I do not have anything that I like least about dotcom-monitor. Cons For now my only blocker is price, and this is only because I only use a small subset of their tools (uptime monitoring) Alternatives considered [Uptime.com](https://www.capterra.com/p/149314/Uptime/) Reason for choosing Dotcom-Monitor I can't justify paying for this service as I currently don't have enough client websites which would benefit from the additional tools, and uptime monitoring is pretty much the only function I use from this software. However, if I ever needed to schedule tests for specific website functions like forms or maybe more complex features, their new tools seem to have been created just for this. Less than 5 minutes from finding the site and I had a web services monitor up and running. Cons The Web Services monitoring sadly did not go as far as I had hoped it would. I didn't go in to that confidently because I hadn't seen a specific feature I was looking for mentioned on the site, but the detailed UI left me hoping for the possibility. The service is great for doing what I would sanity checks, but I had hoped for more in depth analysis of the assets being monitored to go beyond availability and veer into QC.
