They refused to defend the deductions they applied to my personal tax during an IRS audit. So, I sent the summary and proof of expenses to the IRS myself. The IRS replied with an adjustment that disallowed all my deductions except miles while the Uber APP were "Finding Trips" (Tracked and provided annually by Uber) I sent the IRS adjustment to McGovern. Again, no help. They said I should pay the $3000.00 the IRS wanted. Then the final straw--When I asked them to wave their fees for the next tax return, they replied with the following. "We used the information you gave us." "Let us know if you will use our firm for the next tax return." (In other words. We dont need or care about your business.) I gave them all my expenses. I trusted them to choose the valid deductions. I provided the IRS with all proof of deductions. The IRS only allowed my mileage deductions while the app was on (Uber), After contacting another CPA, I learned that many of the deductions were indeed valid. Also, my new CPA provided written proof of intent to act on by behalf with power of attorney during any audits. They clearly stated they would fully defend any deductions they applied to my tax return. February 22, 2021
