You know the look. Glazed eyes, a phone hidden under the edge of the table, the reluctance to answer even the simplest questions. It's difficult enough to engage your corporate learning students when they're sitting right in front of you. That struggle compounds when your learners are far away and you can't monitor their engagement in real time.

It's one of the worst days for any team lead or HR manager. Your star employee—the one who's always on time, gets along with everybody, works hard, and has the best ideas—calls you into a meeting.

I'm about to say the most obvious sentence of all time, but stay with me: Games are fun. People love games. We use them to learn as children, to pass the time and to help us bond with our peers as adults, and as a way to make boring activities more interesting.

I love Wikipedia. It's an easy, convenient, and (usually) fairly reliable way to get basic information on any given topic. But Wikipedia can't do it all.

Have you ever opened up a learning management system to take a quiz and been unable to understand the questions? Whether it's vaguely worded questions, overdone slang, or 10 options for each multiple choice question, there's a fine line between making your quiz difficult enough to ensure students studied and making it too tricky for any to ace it.

You need to train your employees, so you're knee-deep in your search for new software. But you find yourself with more questions than answers. Learning management systems seem to be where it's at. After all, that's what comes up when you frantically Google how to teach something to a whole host of people at once.

“Better than Wikipedia" is a pretty serious claim. Where's the first place you go when you need quick information on a new topic? Wikipedia. Whether it's looking up some obscure historical figure, finding a plot summary for every episode of your favorite TV show, or exploring a new technology you want to adopt, Wikipedia is the go-to for quick information. That includes questions about learning management software.
