school calendar
When I was in high school, each student was given a school calendar at the beginning of the year which laid out every sporting event, school play, teacher in-service day, and major festivity for that year. Some calendars made it home, while others were introduced to the trash bin.

I remember the first time I played a video game. I was five years old, playing with my next door neighbor until he invited me inside to play Super Mario Brothers on his Super Nintendo. Until then I had never heard of “Nintendo,” let alone of a “game console.” As soon as I picked up the grey and purple controller, I began a lifelong journey into my virtual life, dominated by multiple consoles and multitudes of games.

Sometimes free and simple are exactly what we need. When I began my foray into graphic design and image manipulation, I wasn’t loaded and I didn’t need an overly complicated software option. I began with GIMP, a free and open-source image manipulation program that may not have been as pretty as Adobe Photoshop or InDesign, but it got the job done.
