Server

A server is a high-powered computer program or device that is designed to store, process, and manage other hardware devices and software programs (often referred to as clients) over a network. A few commonly used server types include file, print, application, domain name system (DNS), mail, web, database, and proxy servers. Each server type functions differently to provide client devices and their users the services and data they need.

What Small and Midsize Businesses Need to Know About Server

Small and midsize businesses sometimes don't have the budget or time to set up and maintain multiple in-house servers. Instead, small businesses tend to use one server to facilitate a wide range of business processes including conducting ecommerce, backing up data, and hosting company websites. Some startups may even opt to use cloud-based servers to facilitate some of these business processes due to their ease of use and minimal upfront costs.
