Capterra Glossary
Threat ignorance is a cybersecurity concept that cybersecurity professionals often use to determine how susceptible a company is to a system cyberattack. High levels of threat ignorance on a company’s behalf often result in data breaches, credential theft, denial-of-service attacks, phishing schemes, and other forms of cyberattacks. Businesses can better address their threat ignorance by simply learning what cyberthreats their business computer systems may encounter and putting the necessary cybersecurity protections in place.
Small to midsize businesses often do not have the resources to recover from malicious cyberattacks, such as ransomware attacks or data breaches. To lower their threat ignorance, small to midsize businesses should educate their employees on how to use multifactor authentication, practice data encryption, and update their software applications to limit system vulnerabilities and protect their systems from cyberattacks.
