Data Center Bridging (DCB)

Capterra Glossary

Data Center Bridging (DCB)

Data center bridging (DCB) or data center Ethernet (DCE) refers to the practice of enhancing the Ethernet local area network (LAN) communication protocol in data centers. DCB is formerly called converged enhanced Ethernet (CEE). It has one objective: Transforming Ethernet into a lossless network with Layer 2 multipath forwarding. This means that Ethernet can eliminate website traffic loss due to queue overflow and allocate bandwidth to hyperlinks.

What Small and Midsize Businesses Need to Know About Data Center Bridging (DCB)

Once these organizations establish standards for DCB, SMBs can improve security and increase bandwidth when they use Ethernet in data centers. They can also keep computers running in the event of a system failure.
