Capterra Glossary
Deprecated
Deprecated refers to a software program or programming language feature that is supported but not recommended for optimal performance. Usually, deprecated software attributes will be available to use until they are phased out by the company the software is owned by. Deprecated features are often faulty or outdated, resulting in them being replaced by more innovative, optimal features in the near future.
What Small and Midsize Businesses Need to Know About Deprecated
As new versions of software offerings are released to the public, older software features that no longer serve customers often become deprecated. Growing businesses typically phase out deprecated software as a result of technological innovation or user preferences, to stay competitive in an ever-changing marketplace.
