Kill Switch

A kill switch is an emergency safety mechanism that allows individuals and teams to shut down a piece of machinery when it cannot be shutdown in a typical manner. Industrial facilities often feature kill switches on dangerous machinery, so they can be quickly shut off if an accident occurs.

Many company-issued mobile devices feature a remote kill switch that render the device useless or inaccessible when they are reported missing or stolen. This prevents sensitive company and customer information on such devices from being accessed by unauthorized users.

What Small and Midsize Businesses Need to Know About Kill Switch

Small to midsize manufacturers typically use various types of machinery in their factories that are considered dangerous to operate. These machines often come with a kill switch that can be used to immediately halt any processes currently being carried out by a machine. This ensures that if an emergency occurs where someone is at risk of being harmed by the machinery, someone can immediately halt operations to ensure no further damage occurs.

In terms of remote device security, no matter your industry, it's a good idea to explore a remote kill switch for company devices to help protect any sensitive information in the event of loss or theft.
