Capterra Glossary
Phase
In physics and mathematics, a phase is a term used to describe the position of a point in time on a waveform cycle. When comparing two or more waveforms, the motion of the waves is considered “in phase” when corresponding points reach their maximum or minimum displacement threshold at the same time.
What Small and Midsize Businesses Need to Know About Phase
Small and midsize businesses that operate in the oceanography and seismology fields of study often employ physicists and mathematicians that have a good understanding of frequencies, oscillating cycles, waveforms, and amplitude. These professionals typically use their knowledge of waveform phases to conduct research on seismic activity and ocean currents.
