Thumbnail

A thumbnail is a reduced version of an image or screenshot of a video that often contains a link to a larger version of the represented image. Thumbnails provide a preview of an image or video file, which is helpful when searching through various multimedia files at once. Instead of having to remember a file name or open each individual file to view its contents, users can simply scroll through the thumbnails and find the one that matches the image they wish to view.

What Small and Midsize Businesses Need to Know About Thumbnail

While all computer and device users interact with thumbnails in some form, they are particularly applicable for businesses in the media or photography industries.

Small and midsize photography and production companies typically use thumbnails to locate specific images or video files when downloading them from their cameras. Thumbnails allow photographers to easily select the photo or video they wish to edit without having to open up each individual file to view its contents. Thumbnails speed up the photo or video selection process, saving photography and production companies valuable time that can be used to edit and produce content.
