Spamdexing

Spamdexing, also called search spam or search engine spam, is a black-hat method of search engine optimization that involves hiding keywords or phrases in a web page to increase that page's ranking on search engine results pages. Spamdexing is a method of manipulating search engines, with the aim of causing them to rank a page highly even when it isn't the most relevant result for the search query.

What Small and Midsize Businesses Need to Know About Spamdexing

Search engines such as Google are constantly developing new algorithms that aim to decrease the rank of sites that use spamdexing techniques and reward ones that provide unique, useful, and engaging content. Over time, spamdexing techniques that are currently in use are expected to become obsolete as search engines find ways to detect and penalize them. Because of this, businesses of all sizes should avoid spamdexing.
