"It's Great"
Overall: Overall, our experience has been just shy of perfect.
Pros: Spillman Records Management along with Spillman CAD is the perfect system for police dispatch and records management. Spillman Records Management allowed us to completely revamp our Records Department and are much more efficient. Since migrating over 12 years ago, we are now almost paperless and performance has more then doubled. Hands down the best CAD and Records Management in the industry.
Cons: My only issue would be reporting as you cannot print a range of incident reports. Each report must be printed individually.

"CAD system "
Overall: I’ve only used two CAD systems and this one is far better. If someone asks me to find something with very little information, I’m still able to locate it with the search features with this programs.
Pros: This product really is user friendly. And makes searching previous calls so easy.
Cons: It would be good if we could use it with our other systems. To where when we add a call it adds it to the other systems we have to use at work.

"Does the job but isn't perfect"
Overall: The Police Department I work for has been using spillman for many years and overall it has been a good experience but not without headaches. Upgrades can be difficult and challenges do arise such as incompatibility with adobe reader for their latest version when trying to use the form feature. They do get around to fixing things but it usually takes a while for bug fixes and patches to happen.
Pros: It is usually reliable and stable, end users are happy with it for the most part. It is widely used in our area so most employees are familiar with it when they start.
Cons: It is difficult to manage as it still requires a unix server and an expert on staff just for that. I understand you can now use Linux but it will be a very difficult transition. When there is a problem their tech support usually likes to shift the blame to us for whatever excuse they can come up with.

"Communications Officer"
Pros: Spillman is so user friendly, so many ways to search for contacts, easy to enter and dispatch calls, its customizable. Hands down the best CAD system I have worked with.
Cons: The messaging portion can stand to be updated. It would be helpful to be able to send an offender image to squad cars

"If you want to be on the top of your game in records management... Get it!"
Pros: I love how you can have your own personal homepage and can customize it for your specific needs.
Cons: I wish the search feature was a little bit easier to use. I know with my old records management software you could type in a specific words and get a list of reports.

"Great RMS Software Program"
Overall: Spillman is a great RMS software program that handles all of the needed items of our midsized municipal police departments. It's both efficient and effective at handling the needs of the department and the records unit.
Pros: Ease of use
Cons: None at the moment

"Spillman is Terrible"
Overall: Spillman is Terrible... End of Story. It over complicates very simple tasks. It is very expensive compared to other options. Entering citations in Spillman does not even make sense. You cannot just simply enter a citation in the main program, it requires you to open a secondary program that is not user friendly. Spillman needs to focus on streamlining their product if they want to be successful. The software was obviously not built for a user friendly environment. Be prepared to start a new career when your department chooses Spillman. Being a cop has never been so tedious prior to Spillman.

"20 years of experience in using Spillman"
Overall: Spillman is a great RMS system that offers ease of searching, flexibility and stability for your database. The system works great and is easy to use once you are trained. I have been using Spillman since 1996 and it is an amazing and very valuable RMS that can be used to solve cases and get information regarding the activity level of your department. Customer service is very responsive and tries to get you a solution or answer very quickly. There needs to be someone assigned to administer and maintain the system, but if it is done correctly Spillman can do great things for your police department.
